Don't worry about a thing
'cause every little thing gonna be all right
Singin': "don't worry about a thing
'cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin'
Smiled with the risin' sun
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true
Sayin', "this is my message to you-ou-ou:"

Singin': "don't worry 'bout a thing,

'cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true
Sayin', "this is my message to you-ou-ou:"

Singin': "don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right

Agree - a solid "7" here, so it hits "My Favorites"

Bill has his favorites (as we all do), and Tracy is one of them. As good of a songwriter she is, it's this cover that I also find endearing and enjoyable. It has an energy that much of her own stuff doesn't (by design). It's nice to hear her spread it out a bit.

I think Trevor got you going on this one RP 9. Good one, Trev.
great cover
Tracy got positive and upbeat?

me too!  Nor am I  a 'fan' of Tracy Chapman, but when this came on, I was like wow, who is this?

why play this when the original is so much better?
I'm digging this more than I thought I would.  It has a nice bounce to it.
I had to skip this one, as I do almost every TC song these days. Her music just sounds a bit cheesy in this day and age.

I really find this hard to believe!!
I had to turn away from my work and see who this was.  Nice.  Lots of energy.

I'm hoping there will be more played from this album.

Yes, every little thing is gon'a be alright ..thanks Tracey and RP!
not a fan of the warble
Awful version- and her singing isn't that good in this track either with a few flat notes here and there. I'd much rather listen to the Bob Marley original please!

Some sour notes for sure..and btw I've never understood the Tracy Chapman phenomena..outside of 1 original song, her whole career has been covers and being an 80's icon..oh well..

Apparently you've lived under a rock since "Fast Car". lol Tracy has done a lot of great stuff than just that album and covers since then.

But thx for playing!

Kind of my sentiments.  A little bit goes a long way and Bill has been adding too much of late.
"Caribbean Crap" is an oxymoron.

granted this song sucks but not true at all.

Excellent send-off for my staycation....
Nice job!  I only caught the tail end, but this song always puts a smile on my face.  Tracy seems to do a good job of it. 7 for now until I hear it again.

Indeed.  I regularly "sing" covers of many songs, just because it gives me joy to do so.  (Whether it gives joy to those listening to me is another matter...)  I think Chapman just liked the song and decided to record it, and did a pretty decent job to boot.  Yeah it doesn't really compare to the original, but so what? Certainly not worth a 1, at least from those who like the original.

I uploaded this as my first RP upload today (expecting no hope of it being accepted by Bill), so I thought I'd throw some pennies in for why I did so. Of note, I'm really new to this as I only registered today, so please don't get me all wrong :| Personally, I like the fact that this rendition is sang by a woman. Master Marley's is undoubtedly the best, but there's something definitely added by a woman singing it. Also, it featured on a bonus CD and wasn't necessarily part of a start-to-finish album. To me it's her homage to one of the greats. Lastly... since the lyrics and melody are timeless, it always makes me smile

I don't agree, covering a song doesn't mean change it by making it your own. I have heard too many artist totally butcher songs by making them thier own. To divert to far from the original often takes away the feel of the song, so that she doesn't change the song except the voice, is not neccessarily a bad thing...of coarse a direct copy can be boring so there is a fine here.
I agree... plus, this is a "Bob" song. And it was live, probably more a tribute than a "make it my own" deal.
Sure, Bob's version was waaay better. But I do remember seeing Tracy for free in Gainesville, FL (at UF) for free in an outdoor concert. (Back in the daaaay.) Wish she'd do more. Excellent voice.

Well, this isn't that bad but the music closely resembles the original, so the only difference is Tracy's singing... and I must say that I prefer Bob! Regardless, any reggae brightens my day considerably.
Love the song, not this version.

Yep, covering a song means make it your own. A Providence Islander here in Broome plays this and it rocks (regs?) but not like Bob would probably approve... altho it's the core of the song that counts...

LOL. The vocals are certainly pretty ragged. Maybe she should have changed up the arrangement or the tempo or something. Doesn't quite work with her voice as it is.
Is this the one she sang on the Bob Marley tribute DVD?
she has sssoooooooooo many other songs you should play instead!
Normally, I'm a big fan, but ... she's not hitting all the notes, she's flat in places. Sorry, it's just not working for me.
Wow, tough crowd.

Exactly my thoughts!! This version doesn't add anything to the song... Bob did it perfectly. So why bother? (of course she's allowed to perform this live, but I can see NO reason to put it on record or, ultimately, to play it on RP.)
