Yes! More gibberish passing as a Celtic musical style.

Have a listen to Hot House Flowers or Bruce Cockburn's musical mannerisms of a Celtic nature to get a sense of a modern use of Celtic genre. (Oooh)

This, on the other hand, is 2nd-century Pagan incantation stuff set to a 4-piece rock background. I wish that I would feel my modern world reflected here in some small way other than that some of the instruments are electric and Loreena once visited Santiago, Chile.

One or two albums of pseudo-Celtic hodge-podge was great but 15 is pushing it. ...

I love Loreena!!  Her influences are wide ranging and fascinating.  In this song, I hear the influence of the medieval "Cantigas de Santa Maria" of Alfonso X - thirteenth century Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage songs (hence the name?).  

Unfortunately, the label "New Age" is applied to this very old musical form.

Loreena is good but this is not 2 good.
The best version of this song is on the recently-released "nights from the Alhambra" cds and dvd . In fact, the dvd/video of this song is SUPERB. I love the little "hop" she gives in the middle of the song, very playful. And the violinist (whom I would call the fiddle player) is HOT (musically). I would give the LIVE version from that release a "10" without question.

So...what's your secret? No, just kidding. I'll admit that Loreena isn't everyone's cup o' tea. Most of us don't come home from work at night and think, "I need to put on some good Renaissance music!" Granted. But, if you explore her music a bit deeper, I think you'll find one of the most original - and certainly talented - artists out there. Certainly a likeable tune, anyway.

The long lost song from the "Monty Python & The Holy Grail" soundtrack? I like Celtic & Loreena too but this is really annoying.
her voice is so distinctive... i absolutely love it
