I turn my back to the wind
To catch my breath
Before I start off again
Driven on
Without a moment to spend
To pass an evening
With a drink and a friend
I let my skin get too thin
I'd like to pause
No matter what I pretend
Like some pilgrim
Who learns to transcend
Learns to live
As if each step was the end
Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
Time stand still
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
Time stand still
Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away
Experience slips away
Time stand still
I turn my face to the sun
I close my eyes
I let my defenses down
All those wounds
That I can't get unwound
I let my past go too fast
No time to pause
If I could slow it all down
Like some captain
Whose ship runs aground
I can wait until the tide comes around
Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
Time stand still
See more of the people
And the places that surround me
Now
Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Make each impression
A little bit stronger
Freeze this motion
A little bit longer
The innocence slips away
The innocence slips away
Time stand still
Time stand still
I'm not looking back
But I want to look around me now
See more of the people
And the places that surround me now
Time stand still
Summer's going fast
Nights growing colder
Children growing up
Old friends growing older
Freeze this moment
A little bit longer
Make each sensation
A little bit stronger
Experience slips away

One of my fav Rush tracks, if not the one, in part because it is a fabulous and very listenable tune all around, but also it was not one of the 3 - 4 that were heard on FM robo boredio 6,474 times.

From 9 to a rare 10 indicating - more or less - musical perfection.
I simply cannot find anything to fault here… Ingenuity, variability, sheer skill… and a song (like the band) that stands the test of time.

Hearing Rush on RP always feels like such a precious jewel.
"Hold Your Fire," hit me hard in my formative years, 1987.

This song managed to convay a yearning when it first came out and I was younger, more so now with the passing years and still a cracking tune.

Nice Aimee Mann backing on this one. Rush in general is just amazing, albeit a bit cold. Tough sh**. My problem is that these are the Rush songs here:

I am LOVING the RP rock mix! Turns out that Bill likes Rush!
If we're looking for a heartfelt melodic Rush song try : 'Second Nature' off 'Hold you Fire' or 'Losing it' from 'Signals' - both proper songs! And a laid back Geddy to boot.

I couldn't agree more, Fooboy. Rush is probably the only band on RP that I find completely unlistenable. I have never understood their appeal and probably never will. So I join you in your apology to the rest of the world on behalf of Canada. We're sorry!
(This one is saved somewhat by the presence of Aimee Mann, and Geddy's relatively subdued wailing.)

They are one of the original heavy metal/hard rock bands.
And yes, they are technically one of the greatest bands ever, but jazz....never heard that one!
Next thing is, you'll compare them to Air Supply!!!
i've always thought of Rush as the jazz musicians of rock. their music is complicated and often appreciated by musicians for it's technical qualities.
to me it's discordant and not pleasing to the ears in any way.

I used to hate Rush in the 80s, but their music sounds better with age. Nice that RP is bringing back a few of Rush's better songs and this one is definitely one of their better ones.
If you listen you hear the sentiment in the song. Hearfelt.
Coming up close to time standing still.

Rush: anytime. Time has and will continue to reflect well on those three and their music.
Love this one - and Aimee Mann as a counter-vocal is just icing on the cake. Yeah..... Good groove.

Never liked Rush. I probably dislike this one the least.
I don't really have anything constructive to add to the comments list, other than to offset the recent negative comments. I've always been Rush fan, and even this stuff, which isn't a great example of their work, is still pretty good.

Tedious 80s pop-rock without any soul. All style no substance. Too much studio stuff (all that reverb...).

Holy cow is this song timely, as I am under so much stress lately.
Aww, this one takes me back. I love these guys (most of the time).
hell to the yeah :)
Aimee Mann really sounds good on this. I actually like this quite a bit as there is less of Geddy Lee's nails of the chalk board vocals and some actual harmony. As always on the instrumental side, the bands saving grace, they are excellent.

I used to love Rush. Exposure to Canadian radio (All Rush, All the time w/ some BTO) has soured those memories.
It's okay in moderation. Not as cool as I thought it was in high school though.

Totally agree with Spumoni. I can understand how Rush creates some true loathing, and they don't have the spot in my life that they used to, but I love this song, the lyrics are the best that Neal Peart ever wrote. Great great tune, that I appreciate even more now, with eighteen years passed in my life since this came out, they have much more significance. Nice play, Bill!

Favorite Rush song and favorite drummer! Time creates an elusive longing for those magical moments in memories mist, in retro they become those once in our lifespan moments - if only we could freeze those moments, to savor, just a little bit longer...
