Miles between us, here we are
Side by side in a stranded car
Right now, baby right now
And it's too dark to see
Anyhow so where are we
Right now, baby, right now?
You could say we've both come down
To a place called lonesome town.
When'd you loose a hold on me
Anyhow and where are we
Right now, baby right now?
We stood up and said 'I do'
Vowed to see each other through
Right now, baby right now.
I'm looking down this road tonight
And I don't see a light
Right now, baby right now.
If we're so clever tell me how
We're waiting for the wrecker now.
Let's forget what used to be
Anyhow and where are we
Right now,oh baby right now?
Side by side in a stranded car
Right now, baby right now
And it's too dark to see
Anyhow so where are we
Right now, baby, right now?
You could say we've both come down
To a place called lonesome town.

If anyone has insight into how they made joints that big, let me know. Asking for a friend.
I used to construct multi-limbed joints (they looked like candelabras) but I gave up when I stopped smoking tobacco many years ago. It's not hard - you can join papers together and if you roll them carefully they're airtight, and then construct the roaches using cardboard and sellotape (obviously not the bits that burn!). Lighting them took the help of other people.

Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris performing live during their tour 'All the roadrunning'. From the DVD 'Real Live Roadrunning' recorded at Gibson Amphitheatre 2006.
The vocal combination of these two is mesmerizing. I just might have to pick up this record.

Finally gave in and bought this disc . Good, all the way through.

I saw them perform at the Santa Barbara Bowl on their tour. What a show! Knopfler did a version of Romeo and Juliette that was absolutely mind boggling. And the band! Every one of them stellar. And, we got a free CD with the tickets. What a deal.

Exactly. Thank you. I bought this song from iTunes while listening to it for the first time on RP.
Was Sinatra's Duets really that bad?
I'd never listened to Emmylou much before this--my loss. As for Mark Knopfler: one of my ATF guitarists.
Just caught them recorded for WTTW in Chicago /Soundstage. Good stuff!

Somehow this works really well after Gomez - How We Operate. Kudos, Bill.
Does this slide guitar sound like "Little Red Rooster" by Howlin' Wolf to anyone else?

I'm guessing it's because he did all of the writing, and she just showed up to sing. That, or she's not a lady.

Put me down as the third. Saw them in Boston, "Why worry" was last song before the three encores. Mark, Emmylou and the band were great! Wish they'd come back to town again.

I wonder what politics allowed this to be named in this way? Maybe it's like Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe - which just sounds better than the alphabetical order.

Why did it take these two so long to get together? Their voices and Marks guitar are awesome together!
It didn't take as long as you think, this album was recorded prior to EH's Red Dirt Girl, but was not released because both of them were releasing other albums at the time. Which explains why it sounds older than the current sound of each of them. While this is better than most other music, I personally like where each of them has gone since then more.
normally i can't stand her voice but with his voice the shrillness is somewhat tempered.
