You're a human thing
Who do you think that you're foolin'?
You're not foolin', not foolin' me

You're a human thing
You're so busy frontin'
Confusin' courage and acting

Move me
Move me

Could it really be so wrong
To let somebody, somebody see

Move me
Move me

A girl can keep it together
A girl can keep it together

Come on now, you know you we'll take the weather
Come on now, you know we love your weather

You got roots cannot be torn from under
Won't you shake it like you've never done before
You've got roots cannot be torn from under
Won't you shake it like you've never done before

You're a human thing

One of the coolest, most interesting songs with a unique groove on RP...and one of the reasons this is THE FINEST MUSIC STREAM ON EARTH

Hating is what so many love to do these days. There's an art to it.

Hating has become the new religion and social media is the new church.
I  love it so much. I love her shaky voice, I love the harmonica, the slow pace.

It's November 7, 2022 and I'm writing from Winnipeg, Manitoba where I find myself making a pretense of working from home while listening to Radio Paradise, enjoying a second Americano, and perusing the motley comment section of songs I'm not particularly fond of - this one included - to satisfy a neurotic want to have my opinions corroborated by other listeners. I see that I rated this one as “Ho Hum,” and I don’t think I was being very fair whenever I originally rated the song. Could I have been in a bad mood?

Let’s stick with the present day. I woke up groggily (daylight savings time - ugh) but the feeling quickly passed as I was lit up by my children's giddy excitement in realizing that it had snowed overnight. There isn’t much snow, just enough to cover the lawn and afford the trees with the fanciful quality of a snow globe. And yes, it’s nice not having to drive to the office the day of the first snowfall, so I’m sharing in the quiet, well-insulated comforts of home. And remember that Halloween was just last week – there’s still a good haul of candy to pair well with my second Americano. So, although the day began begrudgingly as a completely ordinary Monday, the stage has been set just so, and now the day has the makings of a very memorable one.

Under this spell with a rosy disposition, I’m wondering what kind of day buddyweiser was having when they commented, “absolute crap.” Or when Excelsior posted something negative not once, not twice, not thrice, but SEVEN times (I was going to say EIGHT, but in Excelsior’s defence, one of their comments is blank. Perhaps the intent was to cleverly use the blank space as a metaphor indicative of a hollowness they feel this song possesses, but with comments like “utter shit,” I don’t think Excelsior is clever enough for that).

If I could, I’d invite buddyweiser and Excelsior over for a coffee. Remarking on the brilliant amber colour and of the crema, buddyweiser might have a change of heart and reconsider their appraisal of this song (and perhaps their brew of choice, too).  And Excelsior, well, this might take a bit more work, but the fresh snow, fresh coffee, and fresh chocolate chip cookies (thanks wifey!) might put them in a kind enough mood to show some generosity toward artists who do their best to produce something of value that other people will enjoy. And even if it’s not enjoyed, which is fine, hopefully we could agree that The Be Good Tanyas deserve a little more credit for their work. It's not easy to write and produce a song. Anyway, it’s high time I got back to work - and yes, I upped my rating to a diplomatic "Acceptable."

It sounds like someone's forcing her to sing, and she's using all her will not to.

I loved their first album. I liked their second album enough to buy it. This one, I don't know. I don't hate it like some of you, though. I'm reserving all my hate for Cloud Cult.
I find this to be a pleasant song.

I think I'll mute RP for a few minutes, open my window, and listen to the jackhammers on the street outside. MUCH more soothing and pleasant than her voice.

BGT's are presently blasting, I mean blasting from my 7.1 sound system. Neighbors are having a mite bit noisy pool party. So, I figure if I crank up the volume and really use some of the 1,000 watts RMS that my Tube Amps put out ..well it's enjoyable to say the least and I don't have to listen to a bunch of Nuveau RIche folks in speedos and thongs. I jut put in a new set of Svetlana Company tubes in the final amp and they are sweet! OK, back to Radio Paradise and a Corona with Lime. Yes, life is very sweet.
If you have a 1000 watt tube amp, just point the thing at the obnoxious neighbors and chuckle while they fry.
Had "more than two" glasses of wine tonight and this still sux. Aside from from "The Littlest Bird," Be Good Tanyas must not be my fav group.
Please, please, find the pitch. She's all over the place, and it's not art.
Ten people think this song is "godlike".
We're good with this. Be good made the day.

You know, I hate HOA's, but if someone in my neighborhood ever blasted the Be Good Tanyas loud enough for me to hear, I would do everything possible to get their outdoor music privileges completely revoked!
This singer is truly painful to listen to.

Don't go forgettin', I have all the Po'Girls an' all the Be Good Tanyas an' all of Jolie Holland's albums They're all fantastic, all fill a niché an' all are in it t'gether, for the music, for the love, for the fun! Allison Russel can't sing when she's playin' the clarinet an' Awna can't sing whilst she playin' the harmonica etc, even special guest Jolie Holland is in the mix, afta all she co-founded the sound way back when, so I say to you, come on board, join the fun without the glum Diona Davies plays a mean violin, got a great voice too, plays the wurlizer an' the guitar, they all are multi skilled an' share the wealth of talent without leadership or comparisons, they'll grow on ya ifn ya let ém
