So am I
Good or bad
The way that things did turn out
I did only make you sad

And we cried and we cried
On the phone
Oh but in my mind
You were never that all alone

Oh you were majesty
Your roads were heavy
And your longing was cut from bone

So am I
Am I good or bad
Could only awake your anger
I could only make you mad
Now was that how you showed me
That you were still so young and bold
Anyway those fights did drive me
And I was dying of thirst and I wasn't growin' old

Oh you were majesty
Your ropes were heavy
And your roads were very cold
Oh, oh, oh majesty

But in my mind
I could still climb inside your bed
And I could be victorious
Still the only man to pass to the glorious arch of your head, o-oh

Oh you were majesty
Your ropes were heavy
And your cheeks were very red

Oh you were majesty
And it's like I said
That spirit, is now dead

Oh, oh, oh Majesty

Nice!
Missing " you are still so young and bored"?

I agree about the rating and relative merits of the live and studio versions.

I think / hope you are right about the lyrics. I always heard “robes”.   “Ropes” and “very red” cheeks would suggest an entirely different relationship between singer and subject.
pure gold, no matter how many times you hear it. Madrugada
Hi all!
wish there was an 11 rating option - oh - ther ya go :   11  !!!
Sivert's voice just melts me.
This song is literally impossible to sing.

I don't know how he does it.

Right up there with all the all the greatest guitar solos of all time.

Yes. "It's just what you won't say..."
Shivers and a 10. So much more than the studio version
- and they are robes, not ropes or roads.
Never gets old to me. Hooked from the first listen.
Robe. The ROBES were heavy. Not roads. Not ropes. Robes, like royal robes.
One of the many phenomenal artists I have been introduced to on Radio Paradise. I have a notebook that I use to write down all the new music that I need to explore more of, and this is one that I actually went out and procured.  Team RP, please play more Madrugada!

And ps, please consider adding a bookmark feature to this page so we can go back and see what caught our ear.

Lastly, I realize that I haven't donated in a while. $20 coming your way right now. #LLRP!
Chills every. damn. time. Majesty indeed.

My only complaint on this song...it's not long enough. Just bumped from a 9 --> 10!
Demoted this to a 9, just so I could bump it up to 10 again!

Frankly, it's not much of a T-bone - the tenderloin is minute, you need to change your butcher.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Institutional Meat Purchase Specifications
state that the tenderloin of a porterhouse must be at least 1.25 inches
(32 mm) wide at its widest, while that of a T-bone must be at least 0.5
inches (13 mm) wide. [1] However, steaks with a large tenderloin are often called a "T-bone" in restaurants despite technically being porterhouse.

Think it through. It's not possible to cook a T-bone properly - there are 2 different types of meat AND there is a bone. Steak for rubes.

Wikipedia says it's spanish (and portuguese) for "dawn"... what a wonderful word - madrugada - to me it has a special touch, mysterious and dark. So looking forward to see them live in concert next year..

This song is one of the reasons I love Radio Paradise. I never would have heard it otherwise. It's a 9 for me.

I'm sorry to say that Robert Burås is no more among us. Regardless you may still pick up a consert with Sivert Høyem that is the vocalist of the band. Høyem has done an excellent job in continuiong the philosophy of the band as it was and is micing together only the best of the best to perform their music. Regardless Burås was indeed a main element of the original pot that brought this music alive.

Madrugada (band) - Wikipedia
So is the consensus still leaning towards T-bone steak?

I had it at 9--just bumped it up to a 10
Every time I hear this it goes up one. Started as a 7 and am currently hovering over the 10.  I'm not sure I've 10'd anything before but its close.  This is 6.35 minutes of goosebumps for me

Cracking guitar solo, shame they are no longer...
Just changed my rating from an 8 to a solid 9. Bravo!!!
How did I miss these guys? Oh that's right I was working 16 hour days during this time and hanging out in sports bars.
Wonderfully resonate vocals! 10/10 always

This has been a 10 since I first heard it almost 15 years ago here on RP...

We still miss you Robert Burås...
I'm PSD-ing not because I don't like it, but I hear it a lot on RP

How have I   missed this?  It stopped me in my tracks.   My son found me suddenly sobbing at the keyboard.   As if listening to Sam Stone.  What is happening ?

And why does this bring to mind Gord Downie?

Great song - first time I've heard it.

Another winner from RP between this place and WFMU my musicale tastes have grown and have given up on commercial rock radio
What a voice!   What guitar!  What a dream of heaven on earth!
a complete RP find - thank you so much, Majestic

You just can't beat Live Music! This song always stops me in my tracks.
Madrugada is touring again. Saw and very much enjoyed them last night. As good as it can possibly get.
Thanks RP.  I doubt I would ever have discovered this band and their astounding lead  singer without you.  Great way to finish my working day and go for a beer.

Was in a bar in Bangkok at 3am drunk playing pool with Bargirls when this started playing. All sorts of weird and wonderful characters were there too. One of those amazing moments and this song always transports me back. I'll never forget. Robert Buras the mercurial guitar player sadly found dead in his apartment guitar in hand.. glad I got to hear this solo from him.

I'm firing up the BBQ when I get home tonight!!  This song is great, and knowing that the band is back together makes me hope they visit the Seattle area soon (and/or I hope I haven't recently missed them like I missed Bill Idol and Steve Stevens recently :-( )

Long Live RP!!
I'm upping this to a 9.
Saw them 2 weeks ago. Small venue. Great great concert
One of those RP songs that worm their way into your head & heart eventually.

{#Laughing} Such a great song.

Edit: January 1st 2019 and still hoping.

Edit #2: Jan. 1st 2021 and I'm going with Stephenater's comment that "It's just that you're insane" is the long elusive lyric. Happy New Year, all!

The voice, the feel, the lyrics, the simple chord progression, the song. live....Majestic!
Reminds me a bit of Gene - the rising vocals and the sense of building...
Love it!
10 from me...a vocal masterpiece and great song!
I keep hearing the chorus as "Mais est-ce que tu le sais ?" {#Think}
It's just a T-bone steak

8 to a 9.  Play it as much as you wish, thanks Bill.
Thanks for introducing me to this Group/Song- Keep playing it!
Makes me cry. I feel so much.
I’ve heard this track here more than anyone should in a lifetime. Recycle please!!!
