Nobody knows how long
Rustling leaves unrhyme
Lullaby breeze unsung
Babel of dreams unwinds in memory
As bad as bad becomes
It's not a part of you
And love is only sleeping
Wrapped in neglect
Time it's time to live

Kissing a grey garden
Shadow & shade
Sunlight treads softly

As bad as bad becomes
It's not a part of you
Contempt is ever breeding
Trapped in itself
Time it's time to live

As bad as bad becomes
It's not a part of you
The wicked and the weeping
Ramble or run
Time it's time to live
Time it's time to live for living

Now that it's over
Rest your head

And, YOU can do better?  ...eh?
Favorite part of the song for me is when Mark starts playing the melodica in the second half of the song.  From then all the way through the fade out.  Pure bliss for me.

Poor wretched soul.  May enlightenment be your salvation.

Just love this tune.
Thank you Mark and company for effortlessly transcending all pop expectations and then some.  Exceptional bass from Paul.  Superb production.
RIP Mark. Inspiration.
The organ sound gave me flashbacks to Aldous Harding's mesmerizing Tiny Desk performance. (If you watch, stick around for the final song.)
Bloody brilliant..makes me happy cry every damn time, I swear...
A very 80s sound, but a stupendous album, start to finish
A masterpiece and a 10✌️
Thank you!

I have always been obsessed with this gem of a song, thanks Bill & Rebecca!!!!
Talk Talk has always been one of those bands that I love and yet somehow always forget about listening to. Their music has aged gracefully over time and simply beautiful to listen to with headphones. I have had a copy of Talk Talk: Talk Talk since it came out. The Colour of Spring came out my freshman year of college and I have such great memories of college girlfriends, road trips, and hot summer nights in South Mississippi. There weren't many of us into this kind of music and the friends that I made at that time through the music are still some of the dearest people in the world to me.
Magnificent. That is all.

Recorder solo?
It's incredible that so many considered this one of their (two) "pop" albums.  Pretty sophisticated sound for a generic pop label.  Listen to this album with headphones...unbelievable.
Super nice to hear this after Roy O.
ONLY 7.1 ?!?!  Unbelievable.
A sonic tapestry...
An amazing creator and musician… my fav band
Such a nostalgic tune, all the love for Mark Hollis, you will be remembered for life. <3
Those little dissonances are pure genius.  A solid, eternal, nailed-on 10.
Like the bass riff

THANK YOU Talk Talk for your timeless music!

I've been an RP listener for 10 years or more and I have to say that when I heard Talk Talk played here I knew that we would get along wonderfully.
It was going well...and then came the flutes haha!
Nice stuff though :)

Only rated 7 !!!  Unreal.

Thank you to the brilliantly, musically gifted Mark Hollis for giving us this fabulous music,RIP❤️
This song makes me so happy
Better be glad that one is Talk Talk. Can you imagine any other band getting away with over-production values like that? (Elton John is not one of the 4 answers on the quiz.)
How is this only a 7?
This is not 80's music in the 80's, Far ahead & above most at the time. Still sounds fresh to me.
So so so many good songs that have stood the test of time
This is a 10 👍
 rating 7
Now that's how to round off an album. The initial piano chord is moment of the purest beauty. It's even better when juxtaposed with the previous track.
Just love this talented band and I didn't get into them much back then maybe heard the wrong songs but now I'm flipped over...brilliant vocals and production
Is there no way at all to stop the perfection of any Talk Talk song? I think not.
Paul Webb's bass playing on the chorus is pure genius.
I am not over the passing of Mark Hollis and still get a lump in my throat every time I hear Talk Talk. I was always hoping for more from this band.
Even their artwork is so beautiful and different... Easy 9 which will surely rise to a 10.

RIP Mark thank you for the music <3 Peace
Such a talented musician. Thanks for playing a little more of them lately, Bill.
I have to love you RP forever. make me free...
R.I.P. Mr Hollis, and thanks for all the tunes.  A truly gifted and inspirational fellow.

When you buy your first hifi, this is one of the albums you take along. Great recording quality and lots going on
Wow forgotten how much I love this track - thank you for playing it.
It's amazing to hear this on the "radio".  Thanks Mr & Mrs G., as always.  How the hell did I manage before I found RP?

Splendid album from start to finish.  My favourite band ever.  Amen.

Pick up Spirit of Eden or Laughing Stock (both followed this album), and prepare to be transported...

Agreed.  Terrific, innovative, both are a little more 'experimental' than Colour of Spring.

Adore all three albums.
What is it about Talk Talk and their incessant timelessness? Pretty much any Talk Talk song, even the kinda ho hum ones like this, takes us right back to when they were, well, everything. Mostly straight back to rather much too-dramatic and troubled times, though. As if we are timeless too, and now must live in a Talk Talk kinda infinite loop. *sigh*
Great to hear this again. I bought this on vinyl back in the day, and I was not prepared for it -- in a GOOD way. I know this is an esoteric comparison, but it's like when Radiohead made the jump from OK Computer to Kid A. This one is the most accessible, but their subsequent albums are fantastic.
Pick up Spirit of Eden or Laughing Stock (both followed this album), and prepare to be transported...

Don't know if this CD is out of print, but it is great from beginning to end. A must have.
i like Talk Talk but this isnt one of their best
I have read that these guys were good. I have now heard that indeed they were not.
I like it.... anyone else hear just a dash of Depeche Mode in there?
My favorite Talk Talk tune. The song is haunting, the lyrics are great, and the chord change toward the end of the song is sheer genius.
The repetitive chorus of recorders brings back memories of having any inclination towards music squashed in third grade.
sounds a bit like Peter Murphy, was he involved w/ them?
One of the most amazing bands ever...

Your task for today is to go out and buy the CD/Album. it will blow your mind - absolutely awesome, I promise!
Damn. This is like that other Talk Talk track (that I ended up buying) ("I believe in you"): sounds dreary and boring for the first 20%, then starts to grow on you, then I don't want it to end. (Being a Melancholic at heart.)
At first I was happy to hear what was recognizably Talk Talk (although a song I don't remember ever hearing). But then some of the wierd dissonant sounds started to bug me. I'd rather hear some other tracks. I give it a 6.

First time I've heard this, me likes a lot.
What cd is that absolute must ,if I were to purchase one?
Love this, haven't heard in ages. Thanks!
WHAT! This only has a rating of 5.7 IT WORTH AT LEAST A 10+
Aaarrrrhhh, back to normality. GREAT GREAT album, blow my mind the first time I played it, still sounds fantastic today
I love when Bill plays the non-popular songs from great albums.
love this song/album. nice pick from the past bill.
I could listen to this all day!
I'm an android, songs don't make me cry inside.
Definitely NOT a follower...and it doesn't make me cry inside...but I do like it to a certain degree!
