Well the night that I got into town
Was the night of the rain, it froze on the ground
Down the street I heard such a sorrowful tune
Comin' from the place they call the Spanish Moon.

Well I stepped inside and stood by the door
While a dark girl sang and played the guitar
There was hookers and hustlers, they filled up the room
I heard about this place they call the Spanish Moon.

There's whiskey and bad cocaine
Poison get you just the same
And if that... that don't... kill you soon
The women will down at the Spanish Moon.

Well I pawned my watch and I sold my ring
Just to hear that girl sing, yeah yeah
I don't care who, you can wake up ruined
You can lose it all down at the Spanish Moon.

One of the best live albums there is. Among my top 5.
Da Feats 'N'awlins and Neville Bros' vibe could be an  excellent segue into Congo Square...

My favorite IPA is Brooklyn Brewery.  Or, Guinness Stout,  straight, none of that black& tan BS!!  Owing to my Irish heritage!!
10 with cream and nuts on top - so fine ...

What?!?  For as many times as I have listened I did not it was Tower of Power and, of course it is!  Great tune, lyrics, horns, bass line.    Ha, I just heard "Tower of Power horns"
its still one of the best live albums

Its day... I've lost count... of the Covid shutdown. Working from home... and hearing Little Feat on Radio Paradise... a small smile comes across my face.
I have this on vinyl, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, half-speed master on top vinyl, gawd it sounds great! I so wish I could have seen that concert.
RIP Lowell; and thanks for all you left behind!

TOWER OF POWER HORNS!

Baddest tune ever. One of a small hand full of bands I can think of that totally smoke live vs studio

Odd.  Then again people not from New Orleans play jazz all the time.

If I ever have the money to open a bar it will be named The Spanish Moon.

At their prime, this band found the heart of rock and roll.  This track is proof of that.  If the opening bars of this track don't stir your blood something's very wrong.
I defy you.  I defy ANYONE, to stay still and remain sittin' in their chair to this tune.  If you can then you clearly must be dead.

Maybe taken out by that whiskey and bad cocaine?

FEATS! agree, fantastic live album, incredible fidelity for 1978. Love the bass jam at the end.
This live Feat album and every track are a 10.

Greatest live rock album?  Or is it Bob Seger's  live album?  Or  The Band's?
Great Track! Tower of Power sound so great on this one. One of the highest fidelity live recordings ever! Thanks Bill!
When these dudes were ON THEIR GAME, it just doesn't get any better! I like how they dig hard on Dr. John and Boz Scaggs grooves
Was there a sophomore dorm room, thick with bong smoke, Wild Turkey bottles and uncracked textbooks where this wasn't playing?
Sometimes I feel like Bill is just borrowing my playlist...

Now that I think about it, I have been listening since 2001, so probably I am actually borrowing Bill's.  It's crazy that RP has been the soundtrack for my life for over 15 yrs!  I really can't thank you enough.  Excuse me a moment while I jump over to the Support RP page.
{#Music} such a great groove ! got to see em live with Lowell g couple of times in seattle / they never really achieved a lot of commercial success here in the states but in Europe pretty big ! hookers, hustlers, and bad cocaine ! fyi Robert palmer used these guys as his back up band on his first coupl albums and usually covered at least one song from them on each subsequent record rip Lowell and robert
Still well worth the price of admission. A stellar band that sounds like they've been playing together every bit of 40 years. There are few that can compete with the kind of groove the Feat do.

I'm sure I had the opportunity.  This album came out right in the middle of my heavy concert going period (probably a significant cause of my present hearing troubles) But while I never disliked Little Feat when I was a teen, I didn't appreciate them near as much as I do now.

Yeah, what Peter said.  If you would like to have memorable, successful party, go get this album right now.

Totally agree.  I love the Grateful Dead but Lowell George was easily as talented as Jerry G.  Both lost to us now.  That being said, Lowell only had about 10 years creating music to Jerry's 30.  There's no telling where the Feat may have gone with Lowell at the helm that long.

BTW:  Comparing the Grateful Dead to Little Feat makes no sense at all as you so accurately pointed out.
Love the way they end it

I agree, although this is the type of observation made about music I really like. Can't win this type of pseudo debate. I have never seen the appeal of this band. If they had a Jerry Garcia equivalent, with his talent, now that would change things. Of course, by saying that I expose myself (indeed!) to the anti-Dead crowd. Oh well, enjoy what you will...

A GREAT collection of live tunes, from Oh Atlanta to Fat Man in the Bathtub to Feats Don't Fail Me Now. And Richie Hayward (RIP!) - an awesome drummer. Saw Feat live at the Cape Cod Melody Tent - in the round. With Richie kickin it all night long. Unbelievable!

This is about as funky as a white band got back in the 70s. Little Feat put out some great, great music.

I thought at first I was listening to Bill Frizell... but here's to Little Feat filling big music shoes.{#Bananapiano}

Excellent.

This might go well with The Durutti Column's Nina.

John McVie must have been listening to Little Feat before he went into the studio to record Tusk
...
Little Feat bypassed me when I was younger for some reason, but thanks to RP I am making up for it with great tracks like this one.
One of Feat's best tunes.  Love the Tower of Power horns!

This song, along with the whole album, is one of my favorite live albums of all time! Ended up getting the live outtakes from these concerts as well, and they are awesome too! (Red Steamliner, Day at the Dog Races, Cold, Cold Cold,  Rock and Roll Doctor, etc.)
Tower of Power Horns !!!!!!!!!!!
A great song from a great album.  Fond memories of playing the whole album very, very loud.
In Texas they call the summer moons a Comanche moon...that was when they did their raids....
A go to, feel good song for me for the past 20 years. But believe it or not, the live version from Live From Neon Park (1996) is even better, without Lowell George, no less. In that version, they transition to Skin It Back.....heavenly, inspired live performance.

Long Live Little Feat!

I totally missed LF in the 70's - luckily, they have a pretty timeless sound, so I've been listening to some of their tunes like they just came out.  They sure sounded great live.

I know this was recorded half a lifetime ago, but I've seen the Feat on stage twice in the last five years.  They're old and grey-haired (or bald), but they still act like teenagers when they slip into the groove.  I guess some things never change.

Some songs are just awsome.  "Whiskey and bad Cocaine"  Sad  Mr. George had to leave so early.  He was a force!

My first Little Feat listen was this one.  Twined me around their little finger forever.

If there was a 21st-century Rick in Casablanca helping Arab Spring underground heroes (or their wives), his bar would be named the Spanish Moon.
Thought it was a twisted version of Tusk when it ramped up.........like'n it better.

Everybody in my church loves this song...
This is such a COOL song....
I'm such a sucker for songs where the bass is the lead instrument.  Oh yeah, Lowell's singing ain't bad either.
I love(d) this song. I was so excited to hear it- it had been a long time. Then I heard it again. Then I heard it again. RP, don't run my favorite songs into the ground!! pleeeeease!!!
Oh Lowell, how we still miss you!
My band has played in that bar(hookers, hustlers, whiskey, bad cocaine).....gotta fight to get your money!
I think Lowell is the best!
RIP brother
I keep bumping this up a number. It's great!
