"not technically brilliant"? What does that mean? Guster is as technically excellent—even brilliant—band as there is around these days. The harmonies (something technical) alone are worth the price of admission. The arrangement (something else technical) simple yet effective. And the choice of instrumentation (yet something else technical), especially the trumpet in the chorus and coda, is exceptional. Then again, maybe I just don't know brilliance from its lack...we agree, tho', that it's one gem of a pop song.

Yes, tasty chords and melody.  I'm not sure if I want to hear songs that are "technically brilliant" anyhow.  I guess it's all relative though.
