I could write the book of you
And illustrate the pages
Ya shouldn't read it
I'm the one that you put down
It was written in a hurry
Slipped through your fingers

I do everything I should
I still gotta learn
How to be good
You got two strong arms I see
Can't ya bring'em around?
Wrap'em around me

Lay my storms down at your feet
Maybe you'll build a shelter
Maybe do my heart work for me
Oh I kick and scream but the job is mine
So I'll stay by the ocean
You got your own hills to climb
Whoa

I do everything I should
I still gotta learn
How to be good
And I've got two strong ya see
I gotta bring'em around
Wrap'em around me

And know that I am full of holes
Still they let me
See on through to the other side
And the Southern Cross has got you
In her sights

Music Playing

Well I do everything I should
But I still gotta learn
How to be good
You got two strong arms ya see
Gotta bring'em around
Gotta wrap'em around me

Gotta wrap'em around me
Gotta wrap'em around me
Yea bring'em around
Yea wrap'em around me

Ooooooooooooooooooo oooooooo oooooooooo oooooo oooooooooo

I do everything I should
I still gotta learn
How to be good
How to be good

LOVE IT!

How do you like them apples?

Nice song.
Wow!

This is nice.  Thought it was KT Tunstall at first.
This woman is a tremendous talent.

She's a very good actress... she might be a better singer/songwriter.
I had to get up to see who this was.
Was thinking  I don't really like Norah Jones, but this is kind of nice and a bit different for her.
What do I find? I"ve heard this before and rated it a seven.
At least I'm consistent. :)
Only song ever heard from Minnie. Never knew she was a singer. Like the song. But, from the comments would not buy the album.

jjtwister
Not too shabby, but I like the other tunes I've heard from her better.
Norah Jones.

My thoughts exactly.

Didn't recognize her voice initially.
When I match the voice to person, my opinion of both her and this song improves.{#Hearteyes}

She has an inordinately large head.
I am so pleasantly surprised by her voice. It's not perfect, but I think I could listen to it all day!

thanks Bill...nice deep centre image on the maggies

Ms. Driver has a lovely voice.  It was nice to listen to such pleasant music.
I prefer the cuts that Bill plays off of her earlier album Everything I've Got In My Pocket. This is verging on a little too "twangy" for me in contrast to her vocals.

Dammit I hate it when I come up with 2 lame jokes and can't decide which one to go with.

  1. You "forgot" Eddie Murphy
  2. Come on, that Tina Yothers album kinda rocked.

Oooo, Ooo, play some Scarlet Johanson next! (NOT)

It's not fantastic, but it's not offensive either.  I guess I'll just say "that's nice" and give it a 6.

Uh...I think you meant "contraband."  But I would find it rather amusing if prisons were having a serious problem with illicit contra bands.

Having been to several contra dances over the last few years, the idea of contra dancing in prison is making me laugh and laugh and laugh.

The first few notes of singing on this song make me think it's going to be Aimee Mann. But that impression quickly disappears.

Leaving that aside, however, I still have no clue what you're getting at. I think she has quite a nice voice and I dig the pop plus twang thing that she has going on in this song. Sure, she's Minnie Driver.  Get over it.

Very surprising. I was not expecting such trite pop. But I should have.

At least your negative attitude is consistent.
Little bit of Norah Jones, little bit of the woman from 10,000 Maniacs... Nice

Agreed.  Although I heard her on XM radio once so I knew she had some ability.  It's tough to be objective about someone when you know them already and for a different skill.  All things considered it's hard to criticize this harshly.  Nice stuff.

Didn't she initially set out to be a singer and kind of fell into acting? She's got a beautiful voice, but I must say, she looks kind of anorexic in the picture below...
I can see why they had to have someone else dub her singing voice in "The Phantom of the Opera".
Talented lady.
This sounds like it could be a cover of a HEM song. Which isn't a bad thing, I like HEM, it just has that feel which I like.
i LOVE this album.
Surprisingly...awesome. I really like her stuff.
Minnie Driver is certainly legit as a musician. This album, though, blurs into a sameness of mid-tempo songs.
Come on now, I thought this was really nice. Not even close to being compared to Don Johnson or the Hoff. DrCyKosis wrote:

I disagree strongly. She was a singer before she made it big in movies. She's not even comparable to the campy actors that dabble in singing list above.

yes yes yes! and The Riches man, love this woman I'd go gay, seriously
Kind of reminds me of Katie Melua. Enjoyable song, start this off with a 7. Looking forward to hearing more from her.

Pretty song. Pretty simple song. Pretty average song. This is the second song I've heard from Minnie on this station and they are nearly indistiguishable. With her contacts, you'd think she'd get a better production team.
It's funny, I've known she could sing, but she's really good at pretending to be horrible at it as well. She was "strangling a cat" in James Bond Goldeneye with a heavy russian accent. Certainly not strangling a cat here, though. Not bad.
Very nice. I'd like to hear more from this album.
Definitely would like to hear this again.
