I like Calexico and Iron & Wine (that I discovered here, so thanks for that!) but this is not their best work. Is it because it's a cover? I don't find what usually gets me with those two bands: excellent instrumental arrangements for Calexico, or sweet harmonies with Iron & Wine. 
It's still "quite likeable" though :)

I was amazed to find this is a Dylan song.  It has so much the character of of Iron & Wine's music.  The xylophone in this is very nice, very hypnotic, (unlike the one coming up in Tull's "Skating Away").    {#Headache}

I pretty much completely agree with you. The production on Empire Burlesque is dated and awful, although Bob's lyrics are top-notch. The songs on the album are ripe for covering and I&W and Calexico have done a good job with this one.
