When I came up from out of the meat-locker
The city was gone
The sky was full of lights
The snow provides a silent cover

In moonland
Under the stars
Under the snow

And I followed this car
And I followed that car
Through the sand
Through the snow

I turn on the radio
I listen to the DJ
And it must feel nice
It must feel nice to know

That somebody needs you
And everything moves slow

Under the stars
Under the ash
Through the sand
And the night drifts in
The snow provides a silent cover
And I'm not your favourite lover
I turn on the radio

And it must feel nice
Well, very very nice to know

That somebody needs you
And the chilly wind blows

Under the snow
Under the stars
The whispering DJ
On the radio
The whispering DJ
On the radio
I'm not your favourite lover
I'm not your favourite lover

And it must feel nice
To leave no trace
(No trace at all)

But somebody needs you
And that somebody is me

Under the stars
Under the snow

Your eyes were closed
You were playing with the buttons on your coat
In the back of that car

In moonland
Under the stars

In moonland
I followed that car

It's the 3 note range of this particular song that drones on and on and on....like a faucet dripping all night long; same sound over and over and over.
Nick Cave, he's like Rush for the goth set — those who like him can't fathom how people don't think he's a genius.
Go, Nicholas, go, and thanks for Grinderman

Awesome — I was wondering the same thing. Nice to see it occurred to other people too.

By the way, this song is awesome. I love that guitar going into the chorus.

Must be a pretty short book. I like Nick, but this song does prod on. . . and on. . . . and on.

There seem to be a lot of haters out there for this album in particular, but I couldn't agree more. Nick Cave is able to deliver pretty much every time for me. I like this tune very much, and the title track too.
Yeah, I too am surprised by all the hate. In my opinion, this is easily the strongest Nick Cave album in YEARS...especially this song and "we call upon the author."

least favorite NC&tBS song so far. i normally find them entertaining, but that one just felt plodding and aimless to me. :(
I'm having a problem warming up to this one myself. Still hovering around a 5.
the melody reminds me of the cure's lullaby. which is good for me.

As much as l like the album title, it's all downhill from there.

...interesting not-quite-dissonance in this song...

I think I like it, although I could do without the cheezy handclaps.
oh my gosh, this is the worst song ever played on Radio Paradise! It stopped me in my tracks in the middle of a busy day...to stop and say, "what is that noise?" I believe there is a bell curve in nearly everthing, at least we've heard the bad end of the spectrum to count on much better songs starting with the next one. eek, sucko barfo as a rating, never been used, until now. Sorry Nick
UNMISTAKEABLE!
a bit better than the earlier song played off this new album, but not up to RP standards. Why did this crap get produced? Yikes!
Moonland is probably the most annoying song i have every heard.... so gay. Please never play it again
Nick Cave can do no wrong in my book.

I am not waiting for anything at all from Nick Cave. I long ago gave up. I first heard him on RP and never warmed to him. This record seems even more boring and unimaginative than the last.
If you read the posts during his songs, you seem to be in the minority. Too bad for you.
