When I was young
Lying in the grass
I felt so safe
In a warming bath
Of sunlight, of sunlight

Vast open sky
Could do no harm
Like an embrace
From Mother's arms
In sunlight, in sunlight
In sunlight, in sunlight

With every year
That came to pass
More clouds appeared
Till the sky went black
And there was no sunlight, no sunlight
And there was no sunlight, no sunlight anymore

It disappeared at the same speed
The idealistic things I believed
And the optimist died inside of me

No sunlight, no sunlight
No sunlight, no sunlight

It disappeared at the same speed
The idealistic things I believed
And the optimist died inside of me

No sunlight, no sunlight
No sunlight, no sunlight
No sunlight, no sunlight
No sunlight, no sunlight
No sunlight anymore

Now there's a song I'll gladly turn up the volume! So damn catchy, every time I hear it doesn't leave me for days.

Agreed!  I love DCFC but I think I need a 6-month break before I can actually like any of these songs again.  {#Stop}

Hmm, seven years since this last comment was posted.  I guess that was a sufficient break.

To be perfectly honest the amount of play this album is getting is making me sick of this station (Which happens to be my favorite radio station we can listen to at work.) and that's a real shame.

this song kinda sounds like it should be featured in a mcdonalds tv ad.

In my opinion, it's because each song on this new album is good.

Not bad, but not my favorite dcfc either,  by any stretch.

i like these guys. they never get too dark. they let the light enter in.

The one hit song on this disc is so strong, it kind of overpowers the others, imo. Still, pretty good. Kind of Radiohead lite.
got this cd yesterday. and i'm enjoying it very much. including this song.
I like Deathcab, but this new record is not doing it for me.
I quite like this little number. "The optimist died inside of me," indeed. Check out an acoustic version played inside a London black cab (!) at the Black Cab Sessions. There's also stuff by the New Pornographers, the National, and many others.

Major song-major group!
Boring, trite song-boring, trite group. added: Judybats called. They want their sound back.

Looks like we have a conspiracy theorist here!
