Hesitating once more
And as I take on myself and the bitterness I felt
Realize that love flows
Wild white horses, they will take me away
And the tenderness I feel will send the dark underneath
Will I follow?
Through the glory of life, I will scatter on the floor
Disappointed and sore
And in my thoughts I have bled for the riddles I've been fed
Another line moves over
Wild white horses, they will take me away
And the tenderness I feel will send the dark underneath
Will I follow?
Wild white horses, they will take me away
And the tenderness I feel will send the dark underneath
Will I follow?
It's actually given me a headache.
Maybe its a tumor?
This album got a bunch of shit when it came out but I've always really enjoyed it.
I like it!! Some people make music & some people gripe about it, others, just enjoy it!

Where's the replay button ?
I AGREE!!

I concur, huge fan of their earlier work and I traded this CD in back in the day. But as often happens, I didn't give it enough chance at the time. This is decent
When this album was released, I couldn't wait to buy it, based on this song (on RP). I listened to the whole thing, then put it on the shelf and forgot about it.
It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I actually put the time into really listening to it. It's not an 'easy' album; in fact it can be pretty hard to listen to. However, at this point I have to admit that it's excellent in spite of that, and worth putting some work into.
You might be right there, friend. This gets a firm PSD from me, yet I love their earlier stuff. More R.I.P. than Rip.
If you have to ask, you probably can't afford it...

Sorry, this is what the Skip button used to be called - Play Something Different...

Starting from 'Dummy', you dummy! Then 'Portishead', both godlike, this 'Third' cannot charm me
Will definitely have a listen. Thanks Krist.

Are you the artistic director for Portishead now?
Agree, but this is a real good-un, innit?
It's a district of the city of Bristol, in the Southwest of England.
Two tickets to Bristol?
Nah........doesn't work nearly as well as
Two pickets to Titsburgh.
Why would I want to do that?
I was so disappointed with that CD. This song is so brilliant, but half the songs on the album are just, well, I hesitate to say "very very bad" but they just aren't good.
Ziggy, me thinks that you are being kind and generous. :-)

Or enter a mosque and yell: "I am GAY, I am GAY!"

Love it. Thank you.

treated with respect. Piss on your racist narrative

Think you mean:

Actually, I like this. You need to calm down, Stingray.

actually that was calm for old Stingy. The shockers are when Stingy actually likes a tune

Could hear this song Live. That is so great!
every time.
which seems to be a lot on RP...
and it still plays in my head for 3 days, despite only hearing the intro.

But the rest of the CD leaves me rather cold. Stopped listening to it a while back.
I'm good with ambient electronica, down tempo, some trip-hop, etc. Is there another Portishead CD I should maybe sample?
Definitely "Dummy." I couldn't get into this one either, kinda bored with it after awhile. It's been 14 year between the two - wonder if that had an impact on it.

I, too, am not the biggest fan of their 3rd album, but the first 2 (Portishead and Dummy) are fantastic! And they did a live DVD at the Roseland called PNYC in which you can watch Beth chain-smoke as she belts out the wonderful zombie-fied trip-hop...

Do you know Cinematic Orchestra? Or Zero 7? About Portishead...all CDs are incredible!

AbsoLUTELY! Tricky is definitely a missing on RP.

Oh yes.
Weird album as a whole though. Dark for sure and a clear departure from the first two. I have to respect the shift away from angst into something more mature especially since it managed to lose none of the edge at all.
That's a touch miserly... it's a clean 8
Pareil pour moi
Same here...
i was trying to guess what could come after that.
"Mysteries" , (Beth too) would be a good choice.
thanks Bill
Love this song but find the CD rather mediocre.

Haaa... - I share your view!
Nailed it, feel the same way.
Horrible song by a great live-band, I say!
Nailed it, feel the same way.
Reminds me of how Todd Rundgren used to incorporate one of those Casiotone toys into his music.

It would help if we knew where you were arriving... make it that little bit easier

I can 'feel it'.
Funny to read the negative comments though.
Love this song but find the CD rather mediocre.
It was stunning.

Sorry, illegal most places i know.

Thanks for the tip — that's too bad though. I was just realizing I have their first 2 albums but not this one. Thought I might add this to my collection, but guess I'll preview samples of all songs first.....
As are so many acts; me, I'm grateful for their hits and to RP for exposing me to many I'd've otherwise never known.
This song reminds of those three-point shot contests where they let the fans have center stage at Bulls games. Oh wow, she made the shot! This song is more about trying too hard for adoration than it is professional. Sorry.
They would probably be very upset to learn that you don't consider them "professional" enough.
Agreed.

Sounds great on vinyl also...;

Exactly.

Well, for one, I love this "mediocre tune".
But for two, please do. I mean, please rip these songs and upload them to Bill. He has taken several of my uploads to date.
