It's the "cascading-piano-over-mournful-singing-in-a-large-cavern" sound that gets me every time.

Guy sings Flat of the Blade (track 6) on the new Massive Attack album. Nicely done too.
What's breakin' MY heart is when he reaches for those high notes on "my heart". Good song, though.

Bill's on a roll with this set, and it's starting to piss me off. I'm really hungry and want to go to lunch, but I haven't been able to take the headphones off for about eight songs now.
Entire album great. Even my 18 and 25 yr old sons like it-and they make it a practice to not like anything I listen to....

I'm with you! RP has been the only place I've heard Elbow and what prompted me to purchase was the fact that every song played off this album has caused me to stop whatever I was doing to check who it is, because I liked it so much. After the fifth song that had me doing that, I made the purchase and LOVE it. Now my daughter noticed that the promotion for the fall season of House on Fox includes one of their tunes. Oh boy.
Opposite thing for me. I couldn't quit listening to it! I rated this as the top CD of 2008. Excellent lyrics and great tunes from the start to the end.

The swelling electronic noise bothers me a bit more than his voice.

My third straight < 6 rating for Elbow. I dunno... it just doesn't sit right. Like the mexican food that sits under the heat lamp for too long.
I think I would need a spike of heroin to truly enjoy this.
