Cross-legged on the bed she gazed across the town
her shadow climbed the wall until the sun went down
she bought a china pug it lay there on the bed
and in the paper bag she could just see its head
She was vibrating She was vibrating She was vibrating

and in an adoring pose he shriveled up and died
until his bones were stems upon the grass they dried
and made an alphabet of white upon the green
and it was beautiful and some would say obscene
she was vibrating she was vibrating she was vibrating

and in the demon's hat discolored flowers grew
and they had fleshy stems and fleshy petals too
to slither is divine to multifoliate
she just lost her watch she couldn't concentrate
she was vibrating she was vibrating she was vibrating
she was vibrating she was vibrating she was vibrating

Whoah, when he says, "...fleshy stems,,," it catches my ear, and it's not just the big hit of Slurricane I took. Mr. Hitchcock, well -- he's DIFFERENT...
Robyn Hitchcock is brilliant. Incels hate this guy

No.

This is worth a repost after 3 years. That rating is almost criminal. Hitchcock has been delivering the goods for over 4 decades now.  Maybe one of the most under appreciated song writers ever.  He's collaborated with REM and many other artists. Catchy rhythms, Intelligent lyrics. One of my all time faves.

Great stuff!

The album cover is better than the song...

And they did it! Great suggestion!
I'm sorry Robyn, I am not sure I understand... Is she vibrating?
Sometimes simple is good.
Nothing annoys better'n Robyn Hitchcock when you're not in the mood for Robyn Hitchcock.
His new eponymous album is very very good.

He's doing a limited tour with Yo La Tengo now. Woah!
love the guy, but just isn't one of my favorite cuts of his. 6. would rather hear America or 52 Stations.
How are the ratings so low and the comments so positive? I am in the positive faction.
This trippy guy had quite the following of fetching young lasses in Tokyo while I was there '02-'12; lots of wacky exuberant mod hot fun!

No. it´s NOT his best song.
Therefore this gets only a 9.
The 5 point something average is an absolute shame!

It's one of the best songs from Robyn that I've heard...a 7.
Incessant.
She sure loved her Rabbit

A great album.
More from this, please!
Robyn is Paul McCartney meets Bob Dylan meets Syd Barrett.

Add Luis Bunuel and you have Robyn!

For the love of Heaven, someone, tighten up her mounting bolts, or equip the poor girl with a damper!

that would have been better.
Dreadfully monotonous.  Hitchcock has so many better songs than this one. I know he's an eclectic musician/singer, so I'll give him leeway on this song.  But I really don't like it.
Hey, Bill...consider adding "Chinese Bones" (from Globe of Frogs) to the playlist?

For some reason only the most repetitive and irritating of Hitchcock;s songs are on RP.
There are so many better songs by him.
Could someone recommend his better stuff? In the late 80s I remember thinking his records were scary-weird. Then a friend invited me along to a show (The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, great venue) and RH made almost no impression.

She was my gravy !??

Not good.........

Magic Fingers® at the Motel 6 will have the same effect without the tedium of this wretched song.

A long forgotten intriguing favorite.......
I like the intro/  9 thumbs up for general ambience

...is it any wonder that they opened for REM back in the eighties?..
