You went into the kitchen cupboard
Got yourself another hour
And you gave half of it to me
We sat there looking at the faces
Of these strangers in the pages
'Til we knew 'em mathematically

They were in our minds
Until forever
But we didn't mind
We didn't know better

So we made our own computer
Out of macaroni pieces
And it did our thinking while we lived our lives
It counted up our feelings
And divided them up even
And it called that calculation perfect love

Didn't even know
That love was bigger
Didn't even know
That love was so, so
Hey Hey Hey

Hey this fire it's burnin'
Burnin' us up

Hey this fire it's burnin'
Burnin' us
Up

So we made the hard decision
And we each made an incision
Past our muscles and our bones
Saw our hearts were little stones

Pulled them out they weren't beating
And we weren't even bleeding
As we lay them on the granite counter top

We beat 'em up
Against each other

We beat 'em up
Against each other

We struck 'em hard
Against each other

We struck 'em so hard
So hard
Until they sparked

Hey this fire it's burnin'
Burnin' us up

Hey this fire it's burnin'
Burnin' us Up

Hey this fire it's burnin'
Burnin' us
Up

Hate this kind of music!

Her father is apparently a professional photographer, who is not incarcerated for any reason, but if he had committed suicide, jailing him would be sort of a silly thing to do.

I doubt he has much chance of rehabilitation then...

Love this album. Took a while to grow on me but I'd go so far as to say Ms Spektor is my favourite female vocalist right now... altho I much prefer this album to the latest one.
I'm liking Regina more and more these days. Never really heard much of her until RP. She has some interesting tunes, pop and anti-pop at the same time.

Sounds like Target commercial music.

I don't like her work, but I have to say, not using auto tune is a plus.
It's like listening to the vocal equivalent of a drum machine/loop otherwise.

It's worse to me.  A drum machine or a loop is not attempting to be deceptive - it's a background, part of the rhythm section.  Auto-tune has its place as well, but not for an artist like this, and vocals are generally at the front.
Super song, super album.

Lily Allen
I heard an interview with Regina on NPR several years ago.  It took place in the music room of a college near where she was going to perform later, just her sitting behind a piano and a mic.  She came off as very genuine and interesting, and her accent while speaking was cute if a little thick.

Anyway, I got the impression that she really is what people would expect her to be from listening to her music.

Sounds to me like maybe she's just cute. :) 7

I want to have Reginas babies.
Regina Spektor is a great singer-songwriter and in the same league as Tori Amos and Kate Bush. I think she should be played more on RP. I have the album 'Live in London' with fantastic songs like Apres Moi, Man of a thousand faces and Ode to divorce.

I see that as a good thing. Auto-Tune is an abomination in my mind. I LIKE to hear real singing, even with the odd flaw or two.

I get home late from work, and catch Later w/ Jools Holland alot.
You hear real quick who is using autotune or some key correction on albums.

Taylor Swift was perhaps the worst I heard. If she looked less glamorous, no one would know who she was.

Regina's Blue Lips on Later is great on the other hand.

This is another fantastic album that RP turned me on to.  Eternal thanks go to RP.

Lily Allen?
even this is not the best tune, still its way more music. Not sayin' Lily's bad at what she is doing.

Regina Spektor is incomparable...no one touches her rare combination of quirky talent.
Whiney and annoying as hell.....

Please sir, can I have some more (Regina)?
Her timbre is similar to Sheryl Crow's
Lily Allen?
Really, really, really, really, really LOVE her!

Yes, I agree.  This is hurting my ears.
Cute.

Really? Amos and Bush have fantastic voices. I find Spektor's weak and too little girl like.
Wow, a touch of counterpoint bass. Kinky!
I like this a lot!

Bill, Regina's got a fantastic part in a new Ben Folds single called "You Don't Know Me," and I think it would fit very nicely in the RP lineup.  (It does have an F-bomb, I suppose, but it's not as if those are without precedent here.)
