Straight as an arrow
Carry our intentions through the wind
Dogs all around you
But your gonna get the message to your friend

At every rendezvous you keep on looking around
Nighttime in the city and the rain keeps falling down

Let me tell you how it all works out
Never thought we had so much time to lose
Just learning how to twist and shout
Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use
Let me tell you how it all works out
Never thought we had so much time to lose
Just learning how to twist and shout
Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use

I'll wind blows the road to go
How many times we've told you so
(Burn you up, and I'll burn you down)
(Burn you up, and I'll burn you down)
No rhyme or reason
No way to make it easy 'til it's done
(Burn you up, and I'll burn you down)
(Burn you up, and I'll burn you down)
So you cross onto the other side of the street
(Burn you up, and I'll burn you down)
(Burn you up, and I'll burn you down)
Should know better but you keep turning up the heat

Let me tell you how it all works out
Never thought we had so much time to lose
Just learning how to twist and shout
Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use
Let me tell you how it all works out
Never thought we had so much time to lose
Just learning how to twist and shout
Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use

Oh-oh-ai-ai
(hey hey hey hey)
Make me feel this
(hey hey hey hey)
Hey-ey Hey Hey
(hey hey hey hey)
Make me feel it
(hey hey hey hey)

When they lose you, it can bruise you
(Burn you up, we gonna burn you down)
(Burn you up, we gonna burn you down)
Break me open, I need someone to see me
(Burn you up, we gonna burn you down)
(Burn you up, we gonna burn you down)
Make me feel it, make me feel

In the city and the rain is falling down
(Burn you up, we gonna burn you down)
(Burn you up, we gonna burn you down)
You can make it happen with your eyes, with your eyes alone

Let me tell you how it all works out
Never thought we had so much time to lose
Just learning how to twist and shout
Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use
Let me tell you how it all works out
Never thought we had so much time to lose
Just learning how to twist and shout
Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use

Break me open
(Let me tell you how it all works out)
(Never thought we had so much time to lose)
Make me feel it
(Just learning how to twist and shout)
(Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use)
Break me open
(Let me tell you how it all works out)
(Never thought we had so much time to lose)
Make me feel it
(You make me feel it)
(Just learning how to twist and shout)
(Doesn't matter much which damn beat you use)

You can make me feel it
You can make me, you can make me, you can make me feel it
You can make me feel it
You can make me feel it
You can make me feel it...

Just love that distorted bass!
One of the better Peter Gabriel tunes on RP.

One of the things that sets Peter Gabriel apart from the rest, for me, is the ability to make a wonderfully huge soundscape without it sounding over-produced.

No histrionics.
Yeah, Pete's hittin the 1 but that don't necessarily mean it's funky
finally!

Agreed, I have attended thousands of concerts over the last 5+ decades and two of my most memorable were both Peter Gabriel shows...

Yes it has god vibes but i am more sensitive to other less predictable frequencees
This is a really good thread, overflowing with interesting remarks, observations, personal takes. Showing marvelously how RP brings mostly decent and enthusiastic people together to chat about music. ...I'm choosing to ignore the recurring need which way too many people feel to state that something else "is really crap" in comparison. That's not paying a compliment, that's lowering the bar and harming the work you claim you want to praise.

Looks like one of the Billiard Balls from the first Skulptur Art Exhibition in my hometown Muenster, Germany ...;-)

Well spotted, you can just see Adolf under the ball on the album cover.

Perhaps you are mistaking Lambchop for Adolf?

The entire album, with perhaps one miss, is interesting and enjoyable...
Speaking of doing projects around the house....

I just want to say that the Radio Paradise android app with slide show is absolutely terrific.

I simply carry the 10" android tablet with small stereo speakers from room to room as I go.

Not sure you'll ever get an answer. worldbeatboy has not made a post since that day.
Straight up wackness. One thing Pete ain't is funky.

Can't enough of Peter Gabriel.  He has a way of expressing the pain in his soul like few others.  His concerts are like therapy sessions.

The album cover makes me think of a cooler, more laid-back version of 'Rover' from The Prisoner...

I'm soooooo glad that Peter Gabriel escaped from the execrable Genesis in good time to develop his own talents, and to RP for exposing me to so much of Gabriel's work, which has radically changed my opinion of him. 8 from the enlightened Nottingham jury.

Decently funky, but ultimately a redo of Big Time (as was said by others here). Solid 7.

I don't really feel the comparison to Big Time, it's less lyric-focused and more radio-style than a lot of his work, but I don't think that makes it a redo of Big Time.
Seems like a PG throwaway. A tune made from others...and never made the cut in the lineup of other hit albums. It's ok...sorta formulaic Peter Gabriel to me.
I sometimes have big blue balls hangin' around--but never just one BBB.
Or even Sledgehammer.

Booorrrrrriing!
Really people? This seems a little phoned in compared to a lot of his other work.

One of the few (only) PG album I don't own. This track is good though, might have to remedy this oversight.

I think 1998 - 1991 = 7, not 17.  But what do I know.  :)

Beats the hell out of that crap he released recently with all the covers. And I'm a HUGE fan.
ST. PETER!
I like this version.  PG did release (sort of) a version of this on an early release of Up, but apparently pulled it off the album because it didn't fit the theme.  Shelved for later release, it seems to have ended up on Big Blue Ball.

Love the baseline.

This album is the live captured recordings of a jam session they had in Real World studios some 18 years go. Some songs don't even feature Peter (though this one does). Not my favorite complilation but some of the other tracks are interesting.
That's why I thought I was listening to an import or something I missed back in the early 90's
