I'd never known her to cry
But this time is different for sure
She's shaking with tears in her eyes
As she picks up what's left of the night
The hope for a reason seemed pure
As we leave what's left on the wall

But oh, how it's taken its toll
Oh, how it's taken its toll
Everything's taken its toll
Everything's taken its toll

There was more than a break in the smiles
They rose and slowly they tired
As she turned the moments were made
There were none that could prove where she lay
There's a calm in the stories now told
And the distance will always be home

And oh, how it's taken its toll
Oh, how it's taken its toll
Everything's taken its toll
Everything's taken its toll

Everything's taken its toll
It's a moment we carry alone
With a cause there's a cure for the soul
But oh, how it's taken its toll
Oh, how it's taken its toll

There has been some good news from BRMC lately; Leah Shapiro, the drummer, is recovering from some serious brain surgery. They had to stop touring because of her surgery, and she hopes that the doctors will give her approval to start drumming by March.
When I hear this one in the morning, I feel like going out in the yard and offing myself....down down down...

Overplayed band.

That's a damn fine cup of Segue, Bill.

Thought it was Paul Westerberg.

Oh yeah. Good comparison! PK is a bit less drony though. Now I know why I like this.
Agreed...this is taking a toll

Yawn.
Sounds like an old Springsteen tune. I can't quite put my finger on the title...
Reminded me I needed to update my CC info for RP!  For some reason the "receiver mail from RP" was set to no.  Sorry bout that {#Whistle}

You just woke me up with Embryonic Journey and now you're putting me back to sleep with this.

Man, I´m sorry but now i will not follow you in this (as i have done in so many others tunes).
This music is so boring that I really can handle this.
Just IMHO (of course).

Yeah - a bunch of fat guys... I must be demented...{#Doh}

Perhaps, but it seems to be a good demented.
Jeff Tweedy, like...

For some reason, reminds me of Bob Dylan (not a good thing).

I wonder if this has anything to do with Michael's death?

Good, isn't it? I love bands with names that subvert expectations. Massive Attack and Der Club  of Gore are two others that make me chuckle.

This is a fine album which really grows on you, though IMO this is one of the weaker numbers on it but still worth 7 from the Nottingham jury.

I'm probably repeating myself, but I bought this album after hearing some of the tunes here, and it is really good! Hats off, Bill.
...great song, but i am nodding off at my desk this morning, sadly...

And yet again, this one strikes to the heart of me today. Even more than the last time I posted these lyrics.

Why is this song rating so low?  Much better than the average offering from BRMC.

Maybe because of the repetitous lyrics! Let's just drone on & on....

Enjoying this album very much.
I just bought this, and it is an incredible CD. Lead singer reminds me of Marc Bolan at times, and that's a good thing.

Read this as.."The Troll ".{#Smile}

Still good ! #8
If you have a chance to see BRMC I would highly recommend it. These guys obviously take their music very seriously and give a fantastic performance, they have a really punishing tour schedule too, which makes me wonder how they can keep going night after night of pure raw energy. . . I saw them in a local club this year and they rocked everyones socks off. . . I'd buy tickets whenever they come over to South Blighty again.

These guys sure have some variety.  Near the top of my list of music to look into more deeply.
RIP Michael Been, your son continues your passion for music. Let's hear The Call sometime today.
Very nice!

Beautiful segue from Bob Dylan, Bill — thanks!
Not my favorite BRM but I can relate to the lyrics

I thought it sounded like Emmylou too!  I did a Google search and the backing vocals are done by Courtney Jaye.

A few songs back Bill played the Cowboy Junkies, who always seem to get bagged as being too slow. Yet these guys are college and indie radio station darlings. This is slow and repetitive. I've never been able to get into this band.
Expected more from the album, but this remains one of the finer cuts. I think BRMC is at their best when they slow things down a bit. Howl anyone?
It's Leah Shapiro, their new drummer.

Reminds me of The Replacements!

Very appropriate for the times.....kind of a slow dragging song tho'
