One of the very best. Guitar, lyrics but the usual bunch of numb nuts will put it down in their endless quest to classify the worlds content.
One of a few things my former husband and I had in common was a love of music including a love of Pink Floyd music. We went to the Division Bell concert in Toronto at the Exhibition Stadium in 1994. Great concert and memory.

I wish there was a way to filter out content-free comments, too.
But I actually have some sympathy for this one. The chunta-chunta-chunta rhythm is kinda lightweight, childish even and precisely the wrong tempo.
(And I loved me some PF. I lay on the floor in the dark last night and listened to both Ummagumma discs and I couldn't have been happpier.)
wish i could like their material after Roger & Dave called it quits....love every single album to that point in time...then never bought another...

Favourite album to make love to in the 90's. We did our best to make our sessions last for the album :-)

But the new CD is great, as long as you know up front that it is pretty much an ambient instrumental album that was based around Rick Wright's keyboards. With that in mind, it is a great listen.

Have it and been listening to it. Its definitely got its own sound different from Division Bell. Some great riffing, juxtaposition and development from melodic ideas associated with Wish You Were Here and Saucerful of Secrets, in particular. It would be great to hear a track or two on RP. You can definitely get a sense of how important Rick Wright was for the sound.

Indeed, agreed on all of this. The Final Cut demonstrated what happened with Waters fully in the lead (i.e. a depressing, whiny, incoherent collection of only mild interest). The two albums by Gilmour go too far in the opposite direction (i.e. overly smooth, not timeless, and also of only mild interest). Like Lennon and McCartney, Waters and Gilmour wrote their best as a team.

I'll admit, I was a snob with this album. What a mistake! This is an awesome song.

Well, the Wall has its place but I agree, this entire album is a Masterpiece of concept, lyrics, and guitar arrangements.....Its one of my most favorite albums of all times.
Gilmour makes that piece fly — and so it will be on my iPod in about 10 minutes.

Hey Bill, if you're reading this, I'd love to hear something from David Gilmours semi-acoustic Meltdown concert he did in 2001. It offered some of the best versions of Pink Floyd and David Gilmour songs I've ever heard.
I hear some Moody Blues. But a nice piece. Great for headphones in the ears on a rocking bike ride.

Thanks again for reminding me to get this excellent CD out again!
Even though Waters was the backbone of Floyd, without him on this album this track shows that Gilmour himself certainly has what it takes to create the quality Floyd music we love.
Heard the intro, and jumped onto the site to see who it was, and leave a comment like "Man, digging that guitar." The I saw Pink Floyd, and wasn't the least bit shocked... So here I am.

We played this song on huge speakers in the southern desert of Israel, on an improvised camping site after a sleepless night of drinking, as the sun was rising. Great moment inspired by a beautiful PF song!

Not sure how to score this. I like how this song starts, and I generally like the song, but it is completely im-memorable for me. If you asked me to hum this song back to you in a few hours, nothing. But I can easily hum any number of other Pink Floyd tracks at a whim.
The aged and noble beast, toothless yet endearing.
If David Gilmour had cut back the trailing delay just a bit on his vocal...it would have made this tune a bit better. Still pretty good, but it lacks the emotion of Waters. Lacks some dynamic, but the guitar is awesome as usual.
