armour let it through, borne the arboretic truth you kept posing
sat down in the suit, fixed on up it wasn't you by finished closing
ramble in the roots, had the marvel, moved the proof be kneeled fine's glowing
storing up the clues, it had its sullen blue bruised through by showing
settle past a patience where wishes and your will are spilling pictures
water's running through in the valley where we grew to write this this scripture:
''never gonna break
never gonna break
never gonna break
never gonna break
not for a part in any gamut of the dark''
doubled in the toes annex it, it minute closed in the morning
did not lose it in the stack's stow, imma lay that call back on ya
you know it won't beseech you, we're laying in an open field
I will let you grow, no need to know this
so carry on my dear, what is clear up in the daylight is we're hung here
fall is coming soon, a new year for the moon and the Hmong here
''never gonna break
never gonna break
never gonna break
never gonna break
all that it seems
bellows tracing through the streams''
''never gonna break
never gonna break
never gonna break
never gonna break
all at its seams
swallows swelling for the beams''

Makes me think of Frank Zappa, strangely
That deep voice. Bobby Brown ;)

Oh man! All these comments had me cracking up. Made my day here in too-hot Utah: gateway to Nevada.

Saw a picture of the Kewatin moored in Saugatuck, Michigan while listening to this song. But it's called Minnesota, Wisconsin. So I'm lost. Where are we really?
"Sat down in the soup which I hoped was a loop", "never gonna break no corncrake" - WTF? Sing clearly, guys!
What a unique talent. Love it.
I am usually a fan of "different" and while this is different, I'm not a fan.
Is this sh--- still popular?

Very intersting arrangement
"Never gonna break no corncrake" - I should hope not, as they're rare and elusive creatures:
I almost never care about the singer's voice in rock music, except when they constantly use a lame falsetto like this guy. Nearly unlistenable for me.

Funny, with marvelous harmonization! What really cracks me up, is that these guys all look like a bunch of lumberjacks or ice fishermen or something.

Gaaaaaack! I do not get the love for this dude/band. Then again, I may be an acquired taste as well.

You're not supposed to hang the hips of your underwear on your shoulders, boys.
This caused a nasty flashback to Tiny Tim tiptoeing through the tulips. Ugh.
Promising beginning but quickly turns into a bloodless bore. This is the equivalent of sonic Unisom.
Hope I don't rub the ink off the "PSD" button . . .

Having the PRECISE same reaction I had the first day I heard Talking Heads (how the hell can I remember that from 30 years ago but can't find my glasses? WTF?) Eerie, high-concept, good musicianship. Don't comprehend this at all—must stretch brain to hear. That's good. 7.

I try and avoid negatively commenting on bands based on vocal styles, but I can't abide by what I hear from these guys. Their music stands on its own as interesting and creative. You're a band, not a boys choir. Your voice doesn't have to be on par with the other instruments in the band (of which there are, like, 20). The only person rock singers pay homage to when they sing falsetto is the late, great Tiny Tim.

Funny spoof of Bon Iver on SNL last weekend — towards the end of the Beyonce skit — "...oh no, Bon Iver put himself to sleep...!"
Sound like "TV on the radio".
Very happy that they won some Grammys. The appearance on SNL was very good too.
Love this song...and his voice
Really, really like this album. If you have not heard it in its entirety, I recommend taking a listen. Received a Grammy for Best New Artist and one for Best Alternative Album this past weekend.

Perhaps Justin just sings this way. He's pretty talented. But it's not all to my taste either I have to agree there.

Flatuent Poseurs would be a better name for this band.

Thanks to the Coen Brothers, I always think of their fine film Fargo when I see Minnesota mentioned, and of the weird americo-scandinavian accents of the locals, and of course of an awful lot of snow.
Me too! Also anytime there is mention of wood chippers.....and on a lighter note, anytime I happen to enjoy the artwork of postage stamps. Oh yeah - and this guy does sound like TV On the Radio.

I respect Justin Vernon's talents as a songwriter, but I just can't warm up to his voice. There are some very good musicians whose singing voices just grate on my ear drums. Unfortunately Bon Iver is one of them.
Wow, I agree! Totally thought this was a TV On The Radio song at first - amazing....

Thank you for that tidbit of information about the art of Euclide, Proclivities. Off to check out his work. I learn at least one new thing every day on RP - the education station!
On a small scale, that cover art does look a little like some "found" art or old place-mat illustration, but it was actually commissioned from an interesting artist named Gregory Euclide, who often works in 3-D and incorporates items from nature, like moss, leaves, and seeds in his work. Nice tune.

"Never gonna break no corncrake" - wtf? I should hope not - the corncrake's an endangered species, at least in the UK.

Like this, and the cover art looks like a touristy placemat at the local roadside diner!

A lot of people mention Fargo as their window into our corner of the world. The Coen brothers hail from the Twin Cities area, so they have some experience with the accent. They did exaggerate a bit. Well, ok then, a lot dontcha know.

Hey, we hear it this time!!
Thanks for the pronunciation advice. Yeah, it's based on the French for "good winter", so that pronunciation makes sense.
Oh, and yes, the next time this plays it will actually play... Very sorry about that.

I thought I heard the sound of wind and bamboo chimes - it was coming from outside my bedroom window.

Minimalist
Mellow
Quietest song I've ever heard and it goes on a bit too long!
Dead air, Bill—where's the music?
