You are the hole in my head, you are the space in my bed
You are the silence in between what I thought and what I said
You are the night time fear, you are the morning when it's clear
When it's over you're the start, you're my head, you're my heart

No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day
You can't choose what stays and what fades away
And I'd do anything to make you stay
No light, no light, no light, tell me what you want me to say

Through the crowds I was crying out and
In your place there were a thousand other faces
I was disappearing in plain sight
Heaven help me, I need to make it right

You want a revelation, you wanna get right
But, it's a conversation, I just can't help tonight
You want a revelation, some kind of resolution
You want a revelation

No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day
You can't choose what stays and what fades away
And I'd do anything to make you stay
No light, no light, no light, tell me what you want me to say

Would you leave me if I told you what I've done?
And would you leave me if I told you what I've become?
Because it's so easy to sing it to a crowd
But it's so hard, my love, to say it to you out loud

No light, no light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day
You can't choose what stays and what fades away
And I'd do anything to make you stay
No light, no light, no light, tell me what you want me to say

You want a revelation, you wanna get right
But it's a conversation I just can't have tonight
You want a revelation, some kind of resolution
You want a revelation
You want a revelation, you wanna get right
But it's a conversation I just can't have tonight
You want a revelation, some kind of resolution
Tell me what you want me to say

Yeah, I've had that thought circling in my head lately also.  The songs all start quiet and build up into these shouty wall of sound anthems.

I vote for Eddie Vedder.

I like her, and I wish my speakers had a setting beyond "loud" for this song.

Who would want to live next door to Florence.

I suspect that she writes her lyrics in all caps.
I love this song.  All of it grabs me.

I've been slowly liking F&TM more each time you play them, and the last minute of this one, with the great low end made me go 7 to 8 today (and another great segue to CCR's "Run Through the Jungle!"  Long Live RP!!
Not my taste but boy, does she has lungs and does she can use them!

WHY DOES SHE SING IN ALL CAPS??

Hmmm, I'd rather listen to Florence in all caps than that 239 lb redhead from Hannityland.

Flo is loud and in yer face, right enough, but she's a truly passionate woman who expresses that passion forcefully in her singing. I would be truly afraid to be a lover of hers - the emotion and commitment must be full-on 24/7. Only lovers with resilience and stamina need apply ;-)

fred, I dunno.  Lots of NA feminists would cut your nuts off for that kind of comment.  Just sayin'.

Lot of haters for a song with a high average score.  Distinctive voices seem to wear that here e.g. Kate Bush, Natalie Merchant etc.

Good tune.  For me it's nearly up to the level of the brilliant first album.

Boring lyrics, boring music.
This is a blurred memory of a night with almost too much to drink and a conversation that I don't understand and will never win.

You need not be a jerk to wind up in conversations that get louder and more confusing. You will not win and there is no way out...

Both of her studio albums list five or six producers (four of them on both albums); I guess they all favor a similar sound.  I don't remember seeing one album with that many different producers, though that seems to be a popular trend these days.

Burn it down, FLO....

Odd,  young Robert Plant gets 8's for his banshee wail and Flo gets a drubbing.
They've both got good heads of hair, y'know.
4 + 4 - 2 = 6 for some reason
This was exactly what I needed this morning. Totally energised me and made me feel like I can take on the world :)

Wow!
You cant choose what stays and what fades away.  Darn right.
I really do like this song. Nevertheless, I find it necessary to post this: There's no need to shout!

This is a nice refreshing blast of new music after the overplayed Zep I just had to sit through.
This is a fantastic song and I love all things Florence, her voice, her lyrics, her presentation and of course, the way she looks. I don't understand all the hate here for her, but we all have different tastes and that's cool with me. I'm just glad that RP likes her and plays her often. Thanks.
Cool song but every song from this album just reminds me to listen to the superior first album.  This one for instance is good but when My boy builds coffins the power of this song suddenly seems limp by comparison.
I wish Winamp had a PSD button...

This band and this album have broken awesome new ground.  I love it!

Having seen Flo perform live (on Tv) on several occasions by now, I'm beginning to wonder whether she has a personal vendetta against notes. When 80% of her notes are off key- and I mean way off - and she continues to prance about the stage as though this is her intention - suspicions are going to be aroused.

Her voice doesn't sound off-key on these recordings, but I've never heard a live performance of hers.
"Foghorn" Florence's pitch is not what bothers me about most of the songs I've heard from this band, it's her howling.
dont like her voice

this is a very POWERFUL song.............just my opinion..............
and they called Springsteen histrionic.

like Tori Amos on meth.

dreck.
Awful!  Might as well be listening to Cher during an aerobics class.  All sounds the same from this machine - impassioned screeching.  RP get's it right 99% so guess they are allowed a mulligan.
This is exactly what I needed to hear right now.
Here's how good she is live:

A simply astonishing album.
Everything off this sounds like an anthem, like they expect people to chant it at a live concert.

I'm kinda feeling rhe same vibe. She's riding high now and getting tons of airplay. That said, her voice is distinct and powerful. I like her despite that she might be classified as "pop" most of which normally repulses me.

Love it more every time I hear it...and you know you have found a great song when you're compelled to log in and rate it before it slips away... ;-)
Reminds me of early Arcade Fire. So much power!

5 1/2 hours seems like a decent interval to me for songs off a newly-released album. I'm pretty sure that other artists (U2, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, etc) appear far more frequently on the playlist, though I've not timed it (life's just not long enough) and I'm not complaining. I really don't think that you can seriously accuse RP of lacking variety - eclectic is its essence.

Commercial radio generally runs with a 2 to 4 hour rotation of playing the same song.  How mad would a person go listening to the same crap every 2-4 hours?  Oh, that's why we are all here and not listening to commercial radio.

They were on Austin City Limits the other night.  I had never seen what the band looked like, only heard them (mostly here).  I predicted barefoot twirling....and I was right!
I really like Florence & The Machine and this song, but I have to agree, this is wayyyyy overboard.  Does anyone here have a direct line to Bill?  Something needs to be said about this.  If we're going to do Florence & The Machine let's hear some of their other stuff besides the usual trio of No Light, Cosmic Love, and What The Water Gave Me.

Flo will be appearing at Nottingham soon, I think, though the chances of getting a ticket will be slim and she'll be in some massive corporate stadium where I'd need strong binos to see her on stage. I did see her on TV a while back, on the Jools Holland show, and she was terrific live.

It seems short to me. How about 1/day/artist and 5 days before repeating a song? Overplaying Florance just emphasizes that all her songs are (somewhat) the same.

I don't want to get tired of F&M. Other songs I absolutely never want to get tired of include Jeff Buckley's (or anybody's) Hallelujah or Debussy's 'Jardins sous la pluie'.

Bill, I know it makes your job harder, but that's why we love you.

Fredriley, there are instructions here on recording a stream for time shifting purposes. (I don't know why I'm mentioning this; as time shifters record and then discard after one listen ;). Even better, click on one of the purchase links above.

I don't think it has to do with indpendence or any conspiracy you seem to be alluding to. I think they just like certain groups and play them a lot much to the detriment of us that do no like redundancy. Isn't that why none of us can stand Clear Channel, but oh well I just come here for the forum.
