Done pretty good now, baby
Keepin' the lights on the last little while
Nobody trying' to hunt us down for somethin' we done wrong
I got no reason not to smile

The sun come up every morning
Even when it's too cloudy to see
I was willing to lose that years ago
I don't know what was the matter with me

[Chorus:]
Baby, we're alright now
Gotta love so strong
Honey, we're alright now
Even when it's wrong

A little gratitude now baby
Sure can go a long long way
It feels good like eatin' ice cream
So I gotta have a little bit every day

A lot of heavy lifting, heavy lifting
Been done on out the head
Didn't earn it, didn't deserve it
We didn't even have to ask

[Chorus]

So won't you stay with me tonight?
We'll cry some tears and sing some songs
Honey it's alright now
All those bad old days are gone

Won't you stay with me tonight?
We'll cry some tears and sing some songs
Baby it's alright now
All those bad old days are gone

[Chorus]

Is this a cover or just blues? I can relate to being tired of the blues. I really do love John Hiatt too.
Just use PSD if you don't like straight-up blues. PSD opens the mind and frees one from stress. Everyone should take some ocassionally :-)
The blues genre is by definition predictable/rehashed/recycled/formulaic - whatever you choose to call it.  That is one of the reasons why so many people like it!

Yes the riffs in this song are very reminiscent of The Rolling Stones - but hey - they themselves recycled guitar licks from the blues grandfathers,
We certainly are now...

What a bunch of craptastia! Amazing how people can convince themselves that such a formulaic, incredibly boring bowl of mush is worth listening to. There's nothing fresh or exciting about. Just classic, utterly predictable hogwash!

Just go and watch the man, then come back here and say you fell asleep and I'll call you a liar.
edit: damn, cannot believe I just said that, must be feeling craptastic.

This is blistering solid bluesy rock, in the style of Big Head Todd, Tinsley Ellis, BB King, and Buddy Guy, with killer guitar & gutsy vocals
This guy hasn't gotten the attention his talent deserves. I love his voice, songwriting and the artists he plays with.

If you don't like what is played you can participate in the selection process. Check the submissions vote for or against. You can also make your own submissions. Anyone not doing this no right to complain about what is and isn't being played. If you are doing this thank you. Wish everyone did.

Anyone who has a log-in and can type has the "right to complain about what is and isn't being played".  It may get tiresome and annoying sometimes, but that's part of the function of the song comment threads.

You must certainly be listening to the wrong music service. Perhaps you were trying to find Nick Jonas? {#Puke}{#Eek}

Don't be so hard on yourself. Relax and enjoy the music.

Terrible.
Mr Hiatt is always worth turning up, even for his less stellar work. Similar legendary status to Van Morrison.
  We're Alright Now
It's just like yesterday.
enjoy Mr. Hiatt to a great degree.  Seems he's always entertaining.
Ditto. Hit 10. We're alright now.

I know what the "A' stands for....

he can sing: he just doesn't have a very beautiful voice. (But I like it.)

So sayeth "the big A"...
Some smokin' slide guitar on this - Sonny Landreth maybe? Anyway I'm loving it!
Just saw John Hiatt and the Combo in my hometown last week ... they played this song and a few others off his new album.  Awesome show ... So nice to hear him on RP!!

You know, if it wasn't formulaic it would be avant-garde jazz.

I was a huge fan of JH in the 80s then things got a little too formulaic, but I might have to give him a try again. solid 7

Every song he creates goes gold for me.  The man's got rhythm in his blues.

Every time they play this on the public radio station up north here, I crank it way the hell up!!

Is it the magical quality of handclaps? Seems to me that handclaps just add that extra to take any song to damn-near godlike.

As the first to rate this, I'm setting the bar high. A 9 for my main man John!

{#Clap}  {#Dance}

Edit: I swear there were no ratings or comments when I started typing this!
Hard to go wrong with Good 'Ole John!
Couple hours until the long weekend out here on the East Coast!

That's some Stonesy guitar work! I like it...
