Easily one of my fave artist discoveries here on RP.  Was fortunate enough to see him perform live a few times.  What a talent.
Long time Tuku fan here. Great that he's on RP's playlist.  Saw him play live once on a golf course in Dubai in front of a crowd of Zimbabwean expats. Probably the most jubilant show I've ever seen.
SUPERB!!  RP introduced me to him, now I like a LOT of his music.  Thanx RP!
Nice!
Delightful!

Let's see, 7 years ago would have been about 2014. "the idiot in dc" probably referred to Barak Obama and his African roots. What exactly are you saying here?
My heart is in Africa with you, boy !

why should musical taste be influenced by historical context? and who says that the african music of a few centuries ago sounded like today's african music?

Written down somewhere.
I will always hold in my heart the pure joy and bliss when he and the band performed at  Shakori Hills (grassroots festival) in NC. Enhanced by an open meadow stage, open starry skies, dancing that frees the soul, I was not alone in feeling lifted up to the heavenly skies.
Happy happy thanks rp

Radio FIP?
I am so frustrated that I cannot get any sound out of my nook tablet for the past few days and now i have missed the current set, which is extremely to my taste, especially because of the Lion of Africa. The stupid nook is being sent back to wherever bad nooks go, I am learning how to play RP on Roku, but alas I have missed this brilliant singer's uplifting and transporting voice... this time anyway. I absolutely could  and have listened to him for hours and hope i will again soon.  VERY glad to see him on the RP playlist.
Back to my African roots

how about you stop trolling and write something worthy of a forum post...
Open your mind along with your ears and eyes and you may grow up a little, IMHO.
It's easy for this to just go in one ear and out the other when you aren't familiar with this kind of music.  I just gave it a good listen for the first time on my drive home, and holy shit, it's amazing!  Will definitely need to explore more of Oliver's music!  The drums in this song are great.

it might be monday for everyone else, but it is friday here...  a long overdue one.  thank you so much for this run of oliver mtukudzi, ry cooder, billie holiday, et al...  :D

This song is good for the ears...

I believe that is an old number, he's 61 years old and released his 61st album this year. At least, that's what I learned while under Police arrest in Mozambique for 2 days this summer. We had an endless diet of Oliver........the only redeeming feature of the event.
He's an amazing performer..
According to Wikipedia this is from his 55th album! He's a busy guy :)
