When you dream you only dream your Annabel.
All the secrets there inside you Annabel.

Down beneath an emerald sky sing Annabel.
Nothing that they did will stop you Annabel.

Land of the lines, tangled there in porcelain.
Under the stars you'll begin.

When you dream you only dream your Annabel.
Sleep reminds you takes you there, oh Annabel.

Gentle whisper, endless winters, Annabel.
Why've they could have let you be both Annabel.

Land of the lines, of the years below still lies.
You are the truth they denied.
Run like the sea, tangled there in porcelain.
Under the stars you begin.

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh ah
(Only a boy under that)

Oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh ah
(Only a boy da da da)

I suppose it just depends on whether you are homicidal or suicidal.

I may rant sometimes about shitty music but I'm glad we all have diverse tastes.  If taste was all the same, the music space would constantly be a bland rehash of the same old stuff, and we'd be hearing Bill introducing Adele or Drake for the next song.
very etheral and hauntingly beautiful song.
Reminds me of Twin Peaks.
appreciate this song more each time I hear it. bumped my 8 to a 9.
It never ceases to amaze me on what people think is a good song and what isn't.
After reading the negative comments, my thoughts, well perhaps, but it never really occurred to me, until reading it.

What we think is good or bad, just based on our perception.

Well, Alison was only 5 then, and they hadn't even landed their first gig on Captain Kangaroo, so perhaps the hype was unjustified at that point.
In all of Goldfrapp’s catalogue, this tune is so unique and special.
Bill and Rebecca have absolutely the best taste in music…

Annabelle Chvostek of the Wailin' Jennys - lovely music
I prefer "Annabelle",  by Don Henley
Lovely effortless voice.

Now, I must say, pretty damn cool...

I understand though, it ain't got a hook like a Stones tune...
Well, she was much younger then.

kill this song   kill it with fire
When you dream you're Hannibal :o)
An acquired taste for sure, but I'm liking Goldfrapp more and more....this piece is haunting.
To me, she kinda sounds like she's humming a variation of the Doctor Who theme

Thank God.  Laura Marling is whiny and pointless.  Goldfrapp are proper.
Never heard of Goldfrapp before until about 2008. Her music is either lame as hell or sublime, nothing much in between. This song is sublime. I first heard Lovely Head on an ethereal/darkwave fan playlist 20 years ago.

I was thinking the same thing so I also went +1 to a 9...and find that of all the Goldfrapp tracks BnR play this is my favorite.  And having heard this and other tunes on Netflix show soundtracks, here's a big THANK YOU to BnR for turning me on to her music....LLRP!!

1st time I've heard this.  So beautiful.  So different from the few tracks I've heard by them.
Great song
Haunting
Anna........   wait for it......... Bel
No problem with the lyrics, but the way she says "Anna.... Bell" just really grates. Almost like the full name is too much of an effort, or doesn't belong with the first half of the name.

When you dream you only dream your Anna... bel.
All the secrets there inside you Anna... bel.

Thank you for this link to the video, or should I say cinematography? Wonderful portrayal of a "boy" being accepted by his mother as a "girl". I have a niece/nephew currently grappling with trans-gender.

You can't help having no taste

Once, so many years ago, there was one youth hostel Annabel in Athens, Greece... ah, what a nice memories to those days... This song reminds me on them:-).
Annabel is a beautiful name...seldom heard these days..lovely song
No new material, no new concerts. She posts new photos from time to time. Resting on her laurels?...done with the music scene? I wish there was another album, another tour stateside though I'd love to be in  a UK concert audience.
Hauntingly beautiful...

It is a little late-1960s-sounding.  It seems somewhat influenced by Komeda's soundtrack to "Rosemary's Baby", in a good way.

Very good.  I thought that sounded familiar.  I just watched 'Rosemary's Baby' on cable a few weeks ago.
Anyone else hear the original legend of zelda underworld theme in this?

This is a really solid album overall.  She did well.
So good to hear this, every time. Sounded great when it came out; still blows me away with the arrangement and nuances of her voice!
This is just so lovely.........thx Bill   {#Smile}

Hands down, the best album of 2014. Beck's Mo(u)rning Phase is next.

I love it, and, I am not suicidal.

thanks for the link, its a beautiful video to accompany a lovely song
Sounds like it's going to burst into a full-blown James Bond theme . . . but doesn't.
"Felt mountain" is an album I will never recover from, deep impact for a lifetime. Soundtrack written for a movie that is happening inside me. ...words fail, sorry for the rant.

I consider myself pretty eclectic when it comes to music of all styles, but I was completely thrown off by "Black Cherry" and just never re-connected with the band the way I had with their debut album.

Thanks to Bill, I've heard a couple of cuts of this last effort. They sound good, really good... But good like the second time you take a bite of something that tasted like alien yet totally familiar the first time...

This one song, though, is oh so close to the Goldfrapp that haunted me for years... maybe I'll end up really liking "Tales of us" after all...

The bicycle in the video is incorrect, anatomically-speaking. See 1:40 and onwards, in particular, noting the position of the bell on the handlebars. The bell is on the same side much later, at 6:20...

So impresssed Bill & Rebecca.  This has only just come out in UK and Allison has been doing the rounds of the radio stations promoting this album.  She has only just appeared on our premier live TV music show "Later" with Jools Holland (ex Squeeze) this week singing this haunting and beautiful song.  The live arrangement was superb and captivating.  What a talent this gorgeous young woman and her partner Will Gregory really are. {#Notworthy}{#Sunny}{#Good-vibes}

We get that show here, Jools Holland, on cable if you are lucky...this is a very good show which I highly recommend.  Unfortunately we do not have a US equivalent...SNL is closest thing
I agree re. Francoise Hardy - is all Goldfrapp's material this mellow?
Lovely!  Reminds me very much of Françoise Hardy's 1971 album "La Question" (which I have on cd and love)  {#Wink}
