You're falling way behind
Well give it just a little bit of time
Cause when we're all exposed
Do you wanna be the first in line
Those bewitching crowds
The smoke they blow
Can make your head pop
The ego is playing its tricks on you again and again

We'll blow all our chances thinking we know
All the answers, and so it goes
With all the changes, nothing changes
No matter what you're told

So you're picking up signs
You're scared you might be losing your mind
And all the hopes of any shot you've got
Are leaving you behind
You're making light of this I know
And it's a shame
That your silly sentimental heart is to blame

We'll blow all our chances thinking we know
All the answers, and so it goes
With all the changes, nothing changes
No matter what you're told

You don't wanna end up in the lost and found
You better hold on tight
Odds will turn to evens when you're upside down
You've gotta hold on tight
I don't wanna be there when you hit the ground
You need to hold on tight

We'll blow all our chances thinking we know
All the answers, and so it goes
With all the changes, nothing changes
No matter what you're told

One of the best collaborations in modern music.  Broken Bells
I'm surprised that they don't play songs from the Shins "Chutes too Narrow" album.  Lot of songs on that album that would fit the RP playlists
What a mix today!!! Wow thanks @William!!! Radioparadise rocks

Every time I hear this song I always have to try to remember whether this is Broken Bells, Howling Bells, or School of Seven Bells.  Not sure why all these bands are so intent on using the word "bells".

That said, Radio Paradise should really look at "The Wait" by School of Seven Bells.  I'm kind of astounded this didn't come up in the search function because I'm sure I heard it on RP in 2016.

Modest Mouse.
DeadMouse.
DangerMouse.

i feel your pain.

Hi, I heard this song here on RP today (end of July 2020) and I was like - Hey, that sounds like The Black Keys :) but somewhat fresher.

It's pretty good. Got a black keys sound, but is somewhat more original. Love this kind of retro music. Those who want to hate, hey, there's worse music out there!

I heard The White Stripes at the beginning. This seems like something Jack White would sing. Anyway, I like it!

I'm curious.  Does anyone else hear anything that sounds even slightly like Led Zeppelin in this track?

Not a bit- Mr. Mercer and the Mouse  aree wonderful- no need to borrow...
Also has some T-Rex  hooks

Mostly when someone/anyone is trying to cover Led Zeppelin, they fail. This is no exception.

Actually, I think tsadam's comment might be spot-on.
If
they were trying to cover Led Zeppelin - this was a complete fail...
Simple happy fun!
8 from me.

BB are just sooooo Black Keys, with less crunch but more instruments and varied sounds. And as I love the BKs, that's a damn good thing. 8 from the rockin' Nottingham jury.

It's Danger Mouse you hear.  Ever since the first Broken Bells album, everything Danger Mouse touches sounds like everything else Danger Mouse touches.  That would be awesome if he had a good sound, but he favors heavy compression and mud, so even good music like this is fairly unlistenable in short order.

I hear The Cure in the first few opening measures...after that I just hear...Broken Bells, I guess.  No idea how someone got Led Zep out of this song.
6.5 for Catchy
I like James Mercer in all his incarnations, but this is just too poppy for me.

I hear an electric guitar; maybe that's it.  Oh, wait, there are drums too.  Amazingly no one has commented that this is somehow a rip-off of Pink Floyd...yet.

Maybe he's a bit dazed and confused? Any other suggestions? {#Wink}

Maybe tsadam's point was: this song is failed, so it must be a LedZep cover.

Don't agree with him on any account.
Not the sign of the gypsy queen.... 😓

Not remotely. Black Keys maybe.

Possibly an errant post meant for another song?

Loved their first album - their second is right up there with it!

I hear Black Keys, too - good spot; good music.  pxd

Feel like I am in a Cindi Lauper video...
I wish the rest of them was broken.
Love this

Swore this was some nugget from the 80s I had missed. I like it.

Fun.
Has a very similar sound to The Black Keys. Completely vile.
Makes me feel like I'm watching Romper Room.
Shins dude has quite a voice. Not so great in concert I was told.
I posted this song on Facebook on the day of the Scottish Independence election, as the most appropriate song for the day. So glad Scotland pulled back from the verge of the precipice.
..thanks RP!..
!...loving the BB theme RP

...bout time I
bought the entire
BB album
because, boy its

...btw...

These guys apparently have a lot of inspirations; they particularly seem to be influenced by bands from the 1970s such as Sparks and The Sweet.  Their sound is often very '70s-sounding, as is that of The Raconteurs.

Everyone in my cubicle is dancing to this right now.
I just enjoy reading people comments inside Radio Paradise - so much more informed than other social media sources.  Thanks everyone - or almost everyone :-)

Bassline = Sisters of Mercy!

"SISTERS OF MERCER"

yuk! a pervert's idea of the raconteurs? {#Eek}
Much better than the other tune played from this disc. I made plunge and got album. It's better than I expected, but not as good as first for sure!

Sure does.  I hear a little MMJ as well.
Sounds like an out-take from Bowie's Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) album - hearing "Ashes to Ashes" in there?
