Man, how I love this song! A wonderfully perfect blend of Western guitar, African rhytm, and that lovely melodic Tamasheq (Tuareg) language.

What a discovery, thank RP!
A great track from a sensational album. The Auerbach influence takes these great songs to a different level
GREAT TUNE!  Thanx RP!

I love the continuation of the amazing keyboard work of Rick Wright in Cymballine into this song, with the cranked-out guitar of this Tuareg jammer!

You could always splash out on their CD

Good tune, but sounds like it has the same vile production of The Black Keys.

Don't get this at all. Great production on all their CDs I've bought
I generally liked this for a while. This has got to be the most overplayed song on RP.
EXCELLENT TUNE!!  IDK,  I agree with the comments about the volume level.  Wuzzup?  PS: I am listening in FLAC w/ high quality phones, amp & DAC!
Is this related to Mdou Moctar? They have a very similar vibe.
What happened? The volume suddenly went down to one.
This is going from 7 to 8 today

i give your comment a 1
I listen this song on high quality and the sound level seems to be very very low compared to other songs. Maybe it's an error in the stream?

Love Bombino btw. I don't understand the hate. I prefer Bombino instead of the mediocre Americana that seems to be popular by the listeners.
GOOD TUNE!!

This one isn't.

I'm an American of Western European descent who loves Tuareg music and Bombino. Even bought one of his albums, a rarity these days.  Upped rating form 8 to 9 on this tune.

Cool, we're not sharing the moment!
Another of the artists I’d never heard before RP.  THANKS Bill and Rebecca.  Happy holidays and a wonderful 2023 to you!

I saw this guy live a weeks ago, it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen!
This guy is a absolute genius with a guitar!
Hearing this on RP inspired me to buy Bombino's most recent album, which is great. More (and different) Tuareg guitar tunes, please!

It might very well be, but having the 1973 version, even with a punch up to an RC 840 cc kit, lifting the front wheel off the pavement would be a feat.  The bike was heavy and very well balanced, which when punched up made it great for drag races and highway touring.  AND now that I've read your post I'm going to reminisce about the great times I had on that bike every time this song gets played!  Thanks buddy!

That's what Photoshop is for. Just rotate the bike a bit.

Nice tune. Interesting record cover. Nomad on what I think is a 70s Honda CB500.

Agreed.  Bombino has lots of good stuff. Add some variety, please. BTW, there's a good Youtube performance video for this song.
This whole paragraph from wikipedia, such a ride, especially the last sentence.

Bombino then joined Tidawt, a band by Nigerien musician Hasso Akotey, which led to his first time in North America as the band was brought to perform in an exhibit of Tuareg art organized by the Cantor Center for Visual Arts. While there, Tidawt was invited by saxophonist Tim Ries to perform in his new album of The Rolling Stones versions, Stone's World: The Rolling Stones Project Volume 2, where they played in a cover of "Hey Negrita", which also featured band members Keith Richards and Charlie Watts. Bombino later said he had never heard of The Rolling Stones, given that white rock musicians do not have a strong following in Africa.

I like that twangy, "Fendery" tone with just the right touch of overdrive - though he doesn't always use Fender guitars.  I think Dan Auerbach produced this album and he seems to like that tone with the slight distortion too.  As you said (sort of) "to each their own".
I really like this song

It sounds a little cleaner to me and it doesn't have the muffled vocals that the Black Keys seem to be obsessed with.

More good stuff from RP.  Thanks.
I love the melodic effect that grabs me and makes this a cut above the norm for 'ethnic' music. To me, it stands by itself and doesn't need any 'look at me humouring people so unlike me, aren't I a nice person' bien pendant ignoramus promotion.

Ps I love the previous comment about a bike in the dessert.  I have visions of it getting stuck in lakes of melting ice cream or crushed by rocks of meringue.

I seriously love Bombino. Thanks for playing this, Bill.

Great Groove - melodic and hypnotic.
Solid groove, but craving punchier percussion... maybe even some tabla added in. Still, solid 7

Not sure. Found the artist perryshall.com. About the cover:

The man is Bombino (Omar Moctar) himself. Dan and the label had some ideas of Bombino on the motorcycle riding through the dessert. I was the person to make that happen. I don't know if there's much else besides the technique and other ideas I could bring to the table. I'm stoked on it and the record itself is amazing.

Sounds just like "Amidinine", which played earlier today..  I mean, it's good, but I'm getting Bombino fatigue.

'Ethnic'? All music is sort of 'ethnic' :)
