Lock the door
Draw the shades
Close my eyes
I'm miles away

I'll spend the day
In my own way

Count the hours
Mark the days,
Underneath it all
The rising swirling
Of the waves

I'll spend the day
In my own way

All the plans
That were made
Let them die
Let them fade

I'll spend the day
In my own way

Please understand
I'm only human

After all's said and done
Only here a moment and
The moment's gone

I'll spend the day
In my own way

Please understand
I'm only human
At times I fail
At times at fault

Don't break your back
Tryin to carry
Weight of the world
Can't please them all

Lock the door
Draw the shades,
Close my eyes
I'm miles away

I'll spend the day
In my own way
I'll spend the day
In my own way
I'll spend the day
In my own way

At the time of writing, 48% of the songs you've rated have been a 10. The next most frequent rating is 1, with a 17% share of all songs you've rated. You seem to either love or hate what you hear, with little room in between . When someone sees that you've rated Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" a 1, and rated Red Hot Chili Peppers' "21st Century" a 10, it's difficult to give your opinions on the value of a song any consideration. Having said that, I'm curious to know if you suffer from head trauma. Or perhaps you're hearing impaired. Well now, hang on a minute - I see in another of your peevish comments that you mistook "whiny" for "whinny." That explains it. You're a HORSE!!!

Us and Them!
Raaayyy! Just like Yaaaayyy! Love this.
For me very close to Alan Parsons Project, off course like Pink Floyd

Lost a buddy yesterday.

I'm 77, he was 54.

There's no telling when your ending's come.

Live today like it's your last time to say 'Love you, ' to whomever that might be for you...

Egg-zactly.

Reminds me of Pink Floyd from Meddle and/or DSOTM.
Great album found through RP.Amazing sound fidelity. Why big well known bands are recording so poor?

Oh my goodness now I really wish that David Gilmour would have covered this at some point. This is already a 10 for me, I can only imagine what his unleashed guitar and vocals could have done to this song!
Sounds so much like Pink Floyd from Meddle.
Tears running down my cheeks as I leave the hills of North Wales heading back to normality. Such a beautiful track.
Beside all, this guitar makes it.
It’s smooth. Is all. Surrender to that. And, then walk away. With. whatever…

With the help of your negative post, the avg rating has gone up to 7.6 now with 4434 total rates....which means I'll go +1 to 11 today!  LLRP
reminds me so much of Pink Floyd Meddle album there is something about it.
Blood pressure dropping………..
That guitar tone! Coupled with Ray's voice, gorgeous!
I like this song.  I'm still adjusting to retirement.

This is SO Pink Floyd that I hope somewhere he acknowledges it as a tribute. If so, thumbs up. 👍
I don't see how this can be anything but a 10.

I do not often rate songs with a 10 because I reserve those for special songs that really touch me to my core. But this song by Ray takes me somewhere deep, it takes me to memories that I only recall when I hear this song.....good memories of my childhood when life seemed to innocent and trouble free. Thank you for this Ray. This song is the very definition of perfect (in my opinion). And a big thanks to RP for introducing me to Ray.
Please make a PTA button...Play This Again.  Damn...what a song.

It would be nicer if he could 'Breathe in the Air' more quietly!

I love that dirty guitar, then it's all pritty n'nat.
Dreamy

I guess you haven't listened to much of Ray.

A welcome (and necessary) 'speed of life' adjustment from Mr. LaMontagne.
I'd suggest to Ray that there's more out there than Pink Floyd.
Eine Mischung aus Pink Floyd und Neil Young. Gut geklaut.
This is one of the best albums of the last 10 years or so. The entire album reminds me of driving late night in Laurel canyon to Malibu and dreamily remembering my childhood at my grandparents in the Florida sand - walking, laughing, surfing.

Perhaps this is the exact opposite of what it should be (or should have been), but as I enter the part of life where my earthly future is very likely shorter than my past, wow .... how the words and atmosphere of this song resonate for me.

Don't know  exactly why, but this song always makes me think of summer evenings at my childhood home, relaxing in a hammock and watching fireflies as the sun set.

I am one of them.

For those picking up on some whiffs of Pink Floyd, check out Rays cover of Goodbye Blue Sky!
Ouroboros - symbol of a snake eating it's own tail - a circle of light around an orange planet.
Reminds me of Luna.
Sometimes this lounge music is just right.

The missing track from Dark Side of the Moon.

See I always thought DSM was an innovative, unique and interesting album, so this wouldn't fit at all.

Transformed, transported, and elevated .... every time I hear this song
I have to say, I have new found appreciation for this man’s work. I’m also a huge Jim James/MMJ fan. MMJ is on my life list of favorite bands, in fact. This combination of talent created this excellent sound, but Mr. LaMontagne makes the song. It simply takes me places, and for me, that’s a measure of a great song.
As much as I’m enthralled with this song, the last two songs on this album, A Murmuration of Starlings > Wouldn’t it Make a Lovely Photograph will blow your mind. All comparisons to Pink Floyd are justified, and it’s beautiful.
Pink Floyd
Wow, this hits me hard right now. I suppose I needed to hear the message...
This track reminds me of the tourist by Radiohead.
shades of Pink Floyd's Meddle - and that's fine by me!
Sounds a little like Pink Floyd's "Breathe" off Dark Side I think.  No?
Brilliant fucking album production!!!
Just looked at the lyrics.  They are elegantly sparse.   Great fit with the music.

The message reminded me of another "make the world go away" song I enjoyed as a kid – the Beatles "I'm Only Sleeping".

I'm listening to this online course in Science of  Well-Being from Yale:  https://www.coursera.org/learn...

However, this song does the job in 16 bars.

Excellent vocal timbre - mellow and confident, passion and power, acoustic and electric, soft and not so ....

More a Gilmour influence than a Water's one.
This would explain why the entire album works so well!

From the WP entry: "He cited the Talk Talk album Spirit of Eden as stylistically similar to his vision of an unstructured, free-flowing album."
This certainly shares a lot with "Us and Them", but I'm willing to throw in a healthy helping of "Make It with You" by Bread. I like it quite a lot.

I'm with the "sounds like Pink Floyd" group.  I like relaxing tunes but this one doesn't do it for me.

something of a David Gilmour / On an Island feel to this.. me likey likey :)
8 to 9, this song keeps getting better with each hearing.
Better suited for Mellow mix...
Such a beautiful tune, and I loooove the guitar.

Normally enjoy Ray but this one’s really hard to like.
I saw a blood moon like that off my balcony last night, how fitting.
