Look what they made; they made it for me... happy technology!
Outside the Lions roam feeding on remains...
We'll never leave, look at us now;
So in love with the way we are here!
The world that the children made...
The world that the children made, here!
The world that the children made, here!
The world that the children made.
Every night they rock us to sleep, digital family!
Is it real? Or is it a dream? Can you believe in machines?
Outside, the beating sun, can you hear the screams?
We'll never leave, look at us now.
So in love with the way we are here!
Happy life...with the machines scattered around the room.
Look what they made, they made it for me; happy technology!
Outside the lions roam feeding on remains.
We'll never leave, look at us now;
So in love with with the way we are here!
deadmau5 discovers Chris James on Twitter for The Veldt March 20, 2012
Here I am posting the obligatory 'WTF are you doing listening to Radio Paradise if you don't want to have your musical tastes challenged?' post. Variety is kind of the whole point of Radio Paradise. This is what you signed up for! Keep an open mind!

I've thought about this story a lot, ever since the first time the Target refrigerator lights went on when I walked by. The story (published in 1950) describes this technology and a virtual simulation that preceded holodecks, VR, and various technologies real and imagined.
And most importantly, the anti-social potential for them all.
what is the name of that book?
Generic garbage
Generic, maybe. Garbage? No. I'd be interested in the music you create. What, surprise? You say you don't play an instrument and can't write? I would have never known.
The freedom of expressing a biased opinion about a piece of music is being used at it's full potential by this comment. Too bad it's narrow minded. It's ok to say it's not for you, but to exclaim it's "garbage" is nothing short of ignorant. Now get off my lawn!
It's just a misplaced RadioHead comment. Maybe Billie Eilish.

I might be more tolerant of the unwelcome techno-pop vibe if it didn't go on for 8 minutes. And some of us listen to the hi-def stream on players with better audio options. PSD is not an option.
I'll give deadmau5 a pass for the cool album cover, and RP a pass for following this with "Subterranean Homesick Alien".
I miss that show!

Owl City.....you are sooooo right!
Discovering song years after its publication, thanks to RP still having it in rotation: +1
Discovering remarkable manner in which the final vocal-tracked version evolved: +2

Realizing I'm 7 years in arrears, this old dad hears curated feature example of electronic artist, Deadmau5 - The Veldt, I would find out later the title being a reference to a Ray Bradbury short story. Having never heard this artist nor much of this kind of music before, the song just made me old-man dance. A month later, I heard it again and got curious about the title and researched it: The story of how the published song came together from a semi-random internet-connected collaboration I found really fascinating.
See https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=deadmau5+the+veldt
3rd hit on the search is the artist's narrative live-streamed at the time he discovered the volunteer lyrical collaboration and immediately recognized its value and embraced it. It was fun to see an artist's AHA! moment.
This is just a 5 in my book.

Well Said!
Especially with "newer material"
So basically any eclectic/electronic music as long as it's produced before 1990? -- The reason I keep coming back to RP is because they do a mix of the old and new.

I've felt the way you've commented a lot lately, and in reading my older posts (under my prev username) I was a lot like that (I guess age does broaden ones horizons, eh?)
That being said, I did find BnR's "about RP" statement to be elucidating to the topic of "STFU and quit your bitching" vs. "I'm not feeling this one, sorry" - so yeah...Long Live RP!!
About RP
Radio Paradise is Old Fashioned Radio for the 21st Century
Each hour of music is carefully blended together to flow smoothly between different musical styles & genres - just like real DJs used to do on FM. We don't use the computer-generated playlists or "carefully researched music libraries" that have sucked the soul out of FM radio - and we never just throw songs together at random the way many web stations do.
We also depend on input from you to help fine-tune our music mix. If you hear something that you feel strongly about (either positively or negatively), please take a moment to rate and/or post a comment on that song. Just click the song title anywhere on our site or the heart icon on the web player.
We'd also love to hear from you if there's an artist you don't hear, but think would fit in with our music mix. You can do that (or register your opinion on songs others have suggested) on our Submissions page.
I’ve long believed that some listeners like to kid themselves that they have eclectic tastes but lack the necessary tolerance to truly appreciate eclectic radio.
Got up to look and my suspicion was correct.
I think this mau5 needs to find a new pony, or teach the current one a new trick.
I thought they were saying Cheater till I looked at the lyrics

This certainly gives the techno/house genre a different meaning. Seems like a bargain at thirty thousand, though ...

Cheers to the Cancon!
Of course you know I mean the Cancon that doesn't live on the Vegas Strip.
(and cheers to the seemingly disproportionate amount of Cancon we hear here )
Cheers to the Cancon!
Gimme a $2,000 bottle of vodka and some extreme VIP attention and I still won't like it.
Dunno what intrinsic value RP sees in this kindergarten music. Maybe I'm missing the point?
At least it's followed by a classic quality piece of music in this set. Thanks for putting me out of my misery with this gold standard Who song, Love Reign O'er Me.

Came to comment about this. Gives the song a really interesting dark edge. Not sure if that would be there from the lyrics alone because I knew the story before I listened to the words.
Perfect for a first day of cool air, non polluted lazy lazy morning, in Beijing , this sunday, end of august 2017
Reminding me how the drum machines helped kill live music venues.
(and cheers to the seemingly disproportionate amount of Cancon we hear here )
Thank you for making me stop what I was doing and listen.
ditto.
Absolutely no shame in playing more chill/trip/lounge/house music here on RP. There are many great artists making electronic music today.
Solid 6 for now- will watch it ebb and flow~

Thanks..
exactly my thoughts...heck I'm surprised that on the first play this track got about 6 comments...and I'm also at an 8 for the imagery (metaphorical and pictorial...that cover art is pretty neat) and cool beat, although I'm thinking it will end up as a 7 soon. LLRP!

Truly eclectic! An artist I never thought I would hear on RP.
I am pleased.
