I can hear you playing up the pane
Even though you never leave your bedroom anymore
I can hear you all the same
All the same
All the same
All the same
All the same
As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye
After all this time, only you know the reason why
Well, they say you're shy and you get caught on the inside
Come on, come out, there's so much light
But there ain't much time
I can hear you crackin' off a windpipe
And the silence last for days
Then I see you coming round again
'Cause nothing ever lasts for every minute of the day
Last the day
Last the day
Last the day
Last the day
As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye
After all this time, only you know why
They say you're shy and you get caught on the inside
Come on, come out, there's so much light
But there ain't much time
No, there ain't much time
No, no, there ain't much time
Boy, if you knew the nights I'd stayed up thinking and crying over you
But I sit back and I say, "what can I do?"
Come on, let me in and gimme a clue
But you gotta do what you wanna do
As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye
After all this time, after all this time
They say you're shy and you get caught on the inside
Come on, come out, there's so much light
But there ain't much time
Oh no, there ain't much time
No, now there ain't much time
I hear a bits of Orbison here.
...or Shearwater
I bought the album after hearing them on RP. Severall really good tracks and the album overall is very nice. If you like this song I recommend you buy the album.
Bill - If there's any way to do that so RP gets credit or commission please let us know.
William used to have an Amazon link for each title, where he would get some small commission on each sale. I don't see that anymore. In any case, it's probably more effective to be a recurring donor.

moved from 8 to 9. Bill, can we hear more from these guys!?
But there ain't much time!
Thank you
Sorry, I kinda liked this song, until about the thousandth time I heard it...
At least it took a thousand spins before you got tired of it- that's quite impressive!

Weird how some songs affect us that way and grow old after too many listens. This one? For me it's a sublime, aural groove, I never get tired of it.
What is "crackin' off a windpipe"? Does he mean whiffing off a crackpipe?
Windpipe is how we speak. The next line is about silence. I think it's his poetic way of saying that he can tell he's getting the silent treatment.
So very true. I can feel my blood pressure drop when I hear the opening chords.
No this is a tough one for me. My coonhound best friend is 17 years old. He's not long now and can't look me in the eye. And I can't get through this song
Oh you just killed me. Honey
I keep checking their website for US tour dates.... nada so far.
They must still be busking. But you can get a free high school diploma on their website.
these lyrics brought to tears…
With you. I have a feeling this was inspired by a real world experience.
This song reminds me of trying to civilize a young, feral cat. Had to go so slowly, giving her time to figure me out and come to me of her own volition. The "silence lasts for days, then I see you coming round again, cause nothing ever lasts for every minute of the day." She spent three weeks hidden in a back room, and then one evening she came around the kitchen door to check me out. The beginning of a beautiful friendship.
I also love cats., I got two 🐈⬛🐈⬛.
Your comments moved me to tears, because I can relate to all of this. Thank you very much!
i love this. i love this so much!
i'll never be able to hear this song and not think of this exact thing, because i've had that experience as well.
i'd like to hear more from these guys.

Sounds a little bit like a combination of a-ha and The Byrds.
10 points!
In the meantime, I was listening to the whole album. Definitely worth to listen to.

Same here. We took in a young female with a litter. Let her take over the basememt. She kept hiding the kittens. I'd sit at the top of stairs every evening and talk to her. Suddenly, one day, she came up, let me pet her, and we were buds from there on out.
formulatic syrupy puke show
Yes a little syrupy but still so much better than much the shite on the airwaves now.
Agreed! Love it.
I love this song ... the ending is really interesting - the vocal effect

Look. A Coca-Cola ad. I hear it's popular.
They had me at French Horn...
yup

I won't be able to think of anything else now when I hear this, 'cuz it's on my supersecret, most excellent ride-that-bike- to-nowhere playlist. Good on ya!

This has a lovely mellow vibe. I'm back in the office after being furloughed for a few weeks - the weather is beautiful and life's good during these awful times. Giving thanks for every day we are all safe. Thanks RP.
This is my prayer every morning.
The hook, the sound, one of those songs , could go on forever.
Agree. That is a big fat hook. So good.
Nice tune. But one of the lyrics bothers me. Instead of: "As hard as I try, you still can't look me in the eye," shouldn't it be, "As hard as YOU try, you still can't look me in the eye?" Or maybe, "As hard as I try, I still can't look you in the eye." Because no matter what YOU do, it shouldn't affect what the other person would do, right? I mean, is what the singer doing supposed to change what the other person...
Oh, crap. Never mind. I'm nearly late for my Nitpickers Anonymous meeting...
I think he is just trying to get their attention. Maybe?
Man, that keyboard player has got the best gig on the planet.
Too many notes! ;-)
Yanks will have to turn on the translate app.
Had this at seven but I'm diggin' it tonight so up to eight she goes
Good move!!

Weak lyrics, nice but predictable melody Give me Coldplay
Do you know the song, "Catacombs" by Poi Dog Pondering? Best French Horn solo in all of Rock.
Seriously, it's a beautiful, haunting song. A 10+

Nice! Thanks for the tip.
This song always nails me hard. In a good way.
Ditto that.
Following it up with Back on the Chain Gang grinds a little extra salt in long ago wounds thought to be tough old scars.
I don't regret it. Nice, mellow stuff.

Gawd yes. This song is sooo good.
Spanish and Portuguese share some words.
Different speeling = different word = different language. Portuguese is not Spanish 😤
Spanish and Portuguese share some words.
In Spanish "Fe" would have no accent, in portuguese it does.
What a beautiful song!
Buy this album. Best $15 you will ever spend.
Not bad, but not deserving more than a 6 here.
Not deserving *from you*, perhaps.
Ten Fé is Portuguese....not Spanish. Wikipedia....

Looks like it is up to a hefty 7 and moving toward 8. Well deserved.
I agree with other comments, shades of Fleetwood Mac, War on Drugs, Chris Isaak, many of my favorite artists, but not in anyway derivative. (whatever that means)
It immediately reminded me of the The Mutton Birds. For me, that's a good thing.
Horn & guitar take this up another notch.
Talk about can't explain, I was just now sitting here thinking "I don't really like this kind of music" while at the same time thinking "this is a pretty good song."
I'd agree...heard it a few time before (on RP)...this time it really grabbed me - so an 8 from me to start and next time I'll listen to the lyrics and see if it goes up a notch
Interesting band title. Spanish speakers would never come up with that name.
Oh, crap. Never mind. I'm nearly late for my Nitpickers Anonymous meeting...
Ha!, well, I take it to mean that in spite of whatever the singer does, the other person still can't look em in the eye, and that is the futility of the situation...actually quite brilliant, IMHO...
great song..
😉
Hardly - I'm sat here wishing we had a repeat button!
