no time for breezy
no time for arguments
no time for love like now

there’s no time in the bardo
no time in the in-between
no time for love like now

there’s no time for dancing
no time for undecideds
no time for love like now

where did this all begin to change
the lockdown memories can’t sustain
this glistening, hanging free fall

i turned away from the glorious light
i turned my head and cried
whatever waiting means in this new place
i am waiting for you

there’s no time for honey
no time for psalms and thresholds
whisper a sweet prayer sigh

where did this all begin to change
the lockdown memories can’t sustain
this glistening hanging free fall

i turned away from the glorious light
i turned my head and cried
whatever waiting means in this new place
i am waiting for you
your voice is echoing love love love love love
i hear it far far away
and i am here waiting for you
i am waiting for you
whatever waiting means in this new place
i am waiting for you
i am waiting for you

His voice has gotten more raspy.  I like it!
Traumatic times. Will take many years to process and heal. Still barely can hear the "p" word. So much damage done. That shall never happen again.
this sounds like karaoke

Sublime Stipe.
probably my favorite singer/songwriter of all time.
No time for this. Skip.
did he suddenly develop an irish accent?
Simply splendid!
quite interesting and below is the place I often visit to download ringtones: muzyka na telefon za darmo
Sorta sounds like Stipe borowed from Brian Ferry's vocal technique.
There is always time for dancing.

Wow. Lyrics are intense. Thinking about all the people who 'ran out of time'. At first listen I'm kind of 'meh', but the lyrics are haunting. I can imagine a video collage of hospital rooms, distanced funerals, heartbroken friends and relatives. We all are forever changed.

This is the song of our times. It took a plague to bring it into focus.
No time for Ivermectin
I love this song. But I’ll not hear it more than it’s played. Random is RP.
The more I listen to this the more I love it.
Wow, this rally sounds like REM

Duh
No time for Michael Stipe. Skip.
Grew up on REM...albums, then tapes, CDs, MP3s, streaming.  I can't think of another band that has consistently shifted its style and focus with such quality (even if I didn't always embrace the shift).  Everything from early-day college/garage (Stipe vocals difficult to decipher), to (somewhat forgettable) pop (Stand, Shiny Happy People), to rock, to borderline melodic/electronic.  I feel like I can always find an R.E.M. song to fit my mood.  Reinvention.  R.E.M.-vention.  So glad to hear Stipe carrying on, even if it's without Bill/Peter/Mike.

I once heard that R.E.M. never had a #1 hit in the U.S. (I don't know if that's true, but some RP fan will educate me).  Some say it's because they weren't good enough.  Others, like myself, think it's because they're were too good.
Absolutely

Boy, I miss REM.

Michael is obviously getting old...he's slowed down enough so I can actually understand the words!

Me too. REM is a band I didn't appreciate anywhere near enough in their heyday, and this is a good of a substitute as there is. I'll be looking for more from this album.

Oh! Something “contemporary”! i.e. recent to this year, 2022. Love this. 🙏
It's just occured to me that Michael Stipe sounds a bit like Feargal Sharkey from the undertones .........
watching him sing this (video) adds an even deeper appreciation !
Jeezus...  I have never liked MS until now.  This song is incredible.
I was kind of expecting Gotye to kick in with his "waahhhhh ohhhhhhh waahh ohhh"... the melody and key feels like it's gearing up for that in the chorus.

Damn, that is one beautiful song.

I really like it as well.  He sings it with feeling
Damn, that is one beautiful song.
The trading arm of the Hell's Angels Motorcycle Club are outside.  I think they'd like a word...
Miss those guys. Even though Michael Stipe turned out to be a Worrying Machine Man, probably incredibly hard to be with, he's genuine and true to himself as ever. Love this song.
Just my observation: It feels plodding. No excitement, no energy.  With all the angst this song is talking about, Stop Waiting. Do something.
Good Tune!
Michael Stipe is one of those singers that I’d listen to and never get sick of. The only other performer that does that to me is Elvis Costello. They can sing anything and I’d love it.
It says "Released: 2021" but it was actually released in 2020.
I love REM, but I don't like this.
I love, love, love the way Michael's voice has aged...

I wish that my dancing had matured as gracefully...
heehee - thought it was the Barenaked Ladies...
This song is underrated. Melody is beautiful and lyrics meaningful.
Haunting...

Looks like it was a little later - https://www.jambase.com/article/michael-stipe-colbert-no-time-for-love-like-now

link below is apparently it but it doesn't work for me - whatever private means...

In the early days of the pandemic Stipe performed a version of this on The Late Show from his home studio.  For me it evokes that scary uncertain time.  "No time in the bardo, no time for the in between no time for love like now. "  Beautiful, haunting.

I think this could have been GREAT, with a strong band behind him....

Agreed. You could take the vocal track by itself and put it on a band that sounds more like Pearl Jam (space, guitar, no annoying bouncy orch track) and it would probably move me to tears.

With the first line I thought, "REM? How do I not recognize this?!"

Yeah, I miss REM. The lyrics on this one… "i turned my head and cried"
I think this could have been GREAT, with a strong band behind him....
I remember seeing him perform this song on video several times last year on the various late night shows during the pandemic and thinking how great it was to have him back creating new music again. I hope this is just the start of more music from this gifted artist.
Fantastic vocal tones and pure emotion, nice 👍
Wow, that stopped me mid-work stream, pause, reflect, read the lyrics...absolutely loved it, went from an 8 to a 9 on first listen! Anyone hear the ending drums sound like a heartbeat stopping? Defo got me...nice one Bill!!
"lockdown memories" - A phrase December, 2019 me would not notice and current me paused, stopped work, and could not continue until I read the lyrics.
I keep hoping he will do another deep creative dive in his "wisdom years," either as a solo or collaborative work, or, maybe even with REM!  (I'm thinking similar to Bowie here).
Nice, soulful sound
Red ones go faster.
Despite bringing in some all-star help I can't help but feel this track is a mere shadow of the magic of Stipe's peak years.  It sort of reminds me of a terrible later career Waterboys track I hear on RP that makes me sad for Mike Scott.
Wow. Lyrics are intense. Thinking about all the people who 'ran out of time'. At first listen I'm kind of 'meh', but the lyrics are haunting. I can imagine a video collage of hospital rooms, distanced funerals, heartbroken friends and relatives. We all are forever changed.

It doesn't grab me on first listen, but I think it will grow on me.  Time will tell.
It's great to hear from him again.
Boy, I miss REM.
