When I saw him for the last time
They were carryin' his load
Brother it was a long climb
He stopped the traffic lights
And no-one said a word
People stood and stared
This was a rare and special bird
The clouds turned dark and grey
And the rain came pourin' in
Just another Melbourne day
I caught his old sarcastic grin
Now we talk here in the kitchen
And agree to compromise
Every one of us a sinner
World-weary reckless and wise
So we raise a glass or three
To our true lost friend
Though nobody wants to face it
We'll all meet up in the end
The years have rolled on by
We're still playin' the same tunes
There's no more tears to cry
We're lickin' our new wounds
Like some broken-hearted fool
With too many lonely nights to fill
The hours slip through my hands
Until there's nothing left to kill
So I sit here in this kitchen
Swear I'll leave it all behind
Take the first boat out of town
And pray the winds are kind
I raise a glass or three
To my true lost friend
If it's written in the stars
Then we'll meet up in the end
Down Saint George's Road
I logged in to say this is very nice and more than a little Van Morrison. But you beat me by 22 minuets Edweirdo
Two years later,,,, first listen. I would have lost a bet that this was Van Morrison
I am getting an Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe AND of course a Van Morrison resemblance in the vocals. Very nice band, never heard of them before- rock on Radio Paradise, listening for many years here, probably 25 years or so.
Indeed. Just upped to a nine.
More Aussie gold
It's just fog
Mist on your guitar is like some spice on your food.
Isn't music strange. I've been listening to Joe in his various bands since 1983 and I have never twigged to the Van likeness. Not once. And now I will never not hear it ever again. Bummer.
Mate thank you..
the question is: why would a musician carry a guitar in bad weather?

I hear a Jimi / Van Morrison hybrid in the vocals. Good stuff!
I like it.

I thought it was Van right away. Had to look at it to check.

to play the blues
(and/or - of course to reflect a feeling)
A peaceful image. Just enjoy it!

Firewood :D
Perhaps he was just uncredited.
Thank you Bill.
Pleasant enough - a lot of Van M in there I think.
Seems a lot of us have the same thought!
Illegitimate son of George Ivan Morrison?
3 years age difference ...... those Belfast boys start shagging early :D
;)
"Here Comes The Night is a Van Morrison tribute project, spearheaded by Camilleri in association with Vince Jones and Vika Bull. Beginning in 2013, the group has performed several live shows throughout Australia.[14]"
"According to Australian music journalist Ed Nimmervoll, Camilleri was sacked for sounding too much like Mick Jagger and upstaging other band members."
yikes!
Van's son?
Saint Georges Road...St. Dominic's Preview?

Likewise, duration of listening and never having head of this band. Very nice!
