Sometimes I wonder if I should be medicated
If I would feel better just lightly sedated
The feeling comes so fast and I cannot control it
I'm on fire, but I'm trying not to show it

As it picks me up, puts me down
It picks me up, puts me down
Picks me up, puts me down a hundred times a day
It picks me up, puts me down
Chews me up, spits me out
Picks me up and puts me down

I'm always running from something
I push it back, but it keeps on coming
And being clever never got me very far
Because it's all in my head
"You're too sensitive" they said
I said "Okay, but let's discuss this at the hospital"

Picks me up, puts me down
It picks me up, puts me down
Picks me up, puts me down a hundred times a day
Picks me up, puts me down
Chews me up, spits me out
Picks me up, puts me down

But I hear the music
I feel the beat
And for a moment
When I'm dancing
I am free

I hear the music
I feel the beat
And for a moment
When I'm dancing
I am free
I am free

Is this how it is?
Is this how it's always been?
To exist in the face of suffering and death
And somehow still keep singing?

Oh, like Christ up on a cross
Who died for us, who died for what?
Oh, don't you wanna call it off?

But there is nothing else that I know how to do
But to open up my arms and give it all to you

'Cause I hear the music
I feel the beat
And for a moment
When I'm dancing
I am free
I am free
I am free
I am free

Well, yes, but that's why it's called "Florence & The Machine," not "The Machine & Some Redhead."

Brilliant.
The first song I've ever heard the captures the experience of anxiety/depression.  Has become a new favourite.  By the way Florence, try the meds, huge difference!
Hearing this woman always makes me think "So this is what it sounds like when a Celtic Priestess gets all up in arms over the state of things.:"  There's nothing like the refined rage of such a pagan in full throttle to the passion driving them.  Ummm....so to speak.

Lovely and uplifting - continuing on from the sublime Solsbury Hill, which played just before.
This is a British group.  It needs to be "Okay, but let's discuss this at hospital".

I'm tapping my foot, finding my mood lifted, by a Forence song? THAT has never happened. I must have a fever. I better sit down.
I have to say I've been noticing RP has been hitting certain Florence songs really hard lately.

My Love - 12 plays in 30 days
Free - 10 plays

And these seem to be out:

What The Water Gave - 3 plays
Cosmic Love - 3 plays
Heartlines - 0 plays
No Light - 0 plays
Ship To Wreck - 0 plays

Those used to be on all the time.  I guess RP is focusing more on becoming a "Today's Hits" station.  Five years ago I don't remember any song at all getting 10+ plays in 30 days.

That's ok, I'm pretty of tired of those old Florence songs anyway, but most of the songs with 10+ plays are wearing on me pretty fast and I hate to see that happen.
7>8
Raising it a point. It's great.

Simple,  but true.

"Because of the bad chemicals in his body" etc.. Kurt Vonnegut.
This song, and its video has changed how I feel about Florence. I really like this!
The medication has worked - I hear the music and feel the beat without having to turn the volume down.
Hello,

Thank you very much for this great radio stream. I like listening to you during work and the music puts me in a good mood.
Best regards from Hamburg, Germany, Anne
Damn fine song

Ha, I made a playlist for my daughter: "My Dad Listens To That".
My teenage son had a 'happening" in our garden. One of his friends provided the musical selection, and I complimented him on his choice, saying a lot of it could have come from my collection. My son said, " Well, actually Dad, ...."!

Better living through chemistry, baby!

I like Florence + the Machine's previous songs played on RP, and even have a half dozen on playlists, BUT . . . I absolutely LOVE this rockin' number.   It's going straight to my "Dad's Rock'n'Roll" playlist so that I can "share" it with my neighbours. And, what makes it even better, for me, is that the video that accompanies this song was filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine on November 18, 2021, and dedicated to "the spirit, creativity and perseverance of our brave Ukrainian friends."

Ha, I made a playlist for my daughter: "My Dad Listens To That".
Another song I would not hear if I was listening to commercial music radio with their SSDD
Finally understand what she's always on about. Most Excellent.
That's a rather good jolt of a song.  As opposed to other tracks of the act (some have gotten a bit old kinda quick) I could hear this one a lot.  A solid 8.
I heard this song on RP and made me curious about the new album.  I absolutely love it!

Quite the tuneful foot tapper.
Oh yes! Play more.

Somehow I skipped the previous (4h) album. This I think will try to acquire.
Holy shit the feels.

"Is this how it is?

When I get down
I get up again
Ain't never gonna get me down
;)
Verging on Annie Lennox with this one - decent enough for me 👍
Like it!

...but then she opens her mouth.
Yay, new Florence! First listen here, but digging it so far.
Not a big Florence fan but liking this.
Gotta admit I'm digging the lyrics on this one:

"You're too sensitive" they said
I said "Okay, but let's discuss this at the hospital"

Good stuff.

NEW FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE YES PLEASE
