A monk was on his way Under frost, under bad weather, He almost froze The monk did not know where to go Went to the pub to warm up, He threw off his uniform threw off the uniform, and glasses He tore his coat to shreds He went dancing himself Having danced, having played, Having said good-will, Jumped onto the wing Hit the ring. A monk sits on a horse, Under the monk, the horse frolics in the Green Meadow A horse through a meadow, a meadow, a meadow The girls are walking around. I did not find the girl He went to the widow. Kissed, caressed, He called the soul I shouted - hooray! Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
Awesome.  Thank you RP!!!
Love this music! So unique. Thanks Radio Paradise for supporting Ukrainian artists. Slava Ukraina!!!
DakhaBrakha.  That's fun to say.  Even more fun if you say it to the beat of the song.

Sounds like Gnarls Barkley there towards the end.
Thank you, Bill!
Thank you, Dakha Brakha!

You lucky duck.  I wish that I could have been there & seen them too!

Your name fits you well.
just this morning, I hear that these folks are coming to my town: The Fredericton Playhouse.  I was also glad to learn that it was Ukrainian I was hearing, as I had thought it was Russian when I heard it for the first time a while back.  (This is listen#2)

The song about чумак's fate, which is played here occasionally, is much better. This one is nearly a regular pop song. Rating it 8, nevertheless, and hoping that this will result in the чумак's fate song be played more often by association.
This is horsecrap.

The monk did not know where to go
Went to the pub to warm up,
He threw off his uniform
threw off the uniform,
and glasses
He tore his coat to shreds
He went dancing himself
Having danced, having played,
Having said goodbye with good will,
Jumped onto the wing
Hit the ring.
A monk sits on a horse,
Under the monk, the horse frolics in the Green Meadow
A horse through a meadow, a meadow, a meadow
The girls are walking around.
I did not find the girl
He went to the widow.
Kissed, caressed,
He called the soul
I shouted - hooray!
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
Trouble was brewing
And not small
On Easter Saturday, everyone quit their jobs
They went to the tavern
They ate honey, drank wine,
The courgette was deceived
They smoked tobacco
Having smoked tobacco,
They lay on their sides.
This song is all Over.

Bump. 8 out of the gate for me.
Great tune!

I saw what you did there...
I like to think that chanting at the beginning is something mundane, like I get the mop bucket and clean the floors a bit, I want to sit down but first I gotta check on the laundry, etc.
Mildly indignant that this gets rotation yet my Henri Texier suggestion was shot down.
I miss the "... sounds like ..." postings.
That bass riff is very familiar, I know it from another song but can't place it.
Weird but interesting, i'm unable to give a rating
So bizarre and brilliant
Well it's a definite improvement over another bloody Bob Marley song, which is what I PSDed from.

Actually their website (https://www.dakhabrakha.com.ua) says they are a world-music quartet.

I am not with you or Ukraine. Good tune though.
Real cool Ukrainian band. Glory to Ukraine 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦
Thank you RADIO PARADISE 🇺🇲🇺🇲
I've noticed some jingoism in the comments concerning the band's country of origin. Stop it. RP is for music lovers, not lovers of war. RP has a global audience who may not share the shallow geopolitics of the USA. I doubt William intends this as a battle cry.
Background information
Genres Ethno-chaos

That's a fair description, yeah.  And a good tune.

Very cool!
Dang, this is brilliant. Fun, a backbone of dissonance, great vocals, and a  strong surrealist undercurrent (see the pic)!
Opens with a easy 7 from Napoli on the Gulf, big upside.

You keep playing songs that make me look... work isn't getting done. :/

Man, do I know what you're talking about! It's funny though as liking what we hear makes us want to look.

I'd never heard of ethno chaos as a musical genre before. Come to think of it, never heard it regardless of the field.
This is awesome!
Huh, this is pretty good.  I'll definitely have to check this out some more.  Made me stop and listen. So sad what is happening to their country.  Hope they're okay. 8 for now.
excellent.
Wild.  "Ethno-chaos."

Thanks, Bill.  You're opening up minds and ears!
