I could climb the highest hill
Reach my hands up to the sky
Maybe touch a passing cloud
My heart would know all the while

That you take me higher
So much higher

I could board an aeroplane
And look down across the land
But it could never reach that place
That I know your sweet loving can

'Cause you take me higher
So much higher

Your love's the sunrise that turns my night into day
It gives me wings and lets me fly away

I could shoot out into space
Count the endless sea of stars
But with you I'd have to say
My heaven's never quite that far

'Cause you take me higher
So much higher
So much higher

Chris Stapleton is far more talented than most of the folks for whom he wrote all those hit songs. His sincerity, grasp of nuance, gut-wrenching lyrics, and low-key approach make him one of the top artists today. Very happy for his success as a solo artist, well deserved.

That is amazing that he has all of those hits for others, and i really like his sound. I think thankfully for Chris as the songwriter he makes the most money from the royalties :)
Currently binge watching "Yellowstone" on Youtube. Chris Stapleton's music is featured on the series.

Steve Earle meets John Hiatt?

Yes, because I always get those two confused when their songs first come on.

Why are those people screaming?

Because they think they need to sing notes that are far beyond where their voices can comfortably reach. It's a thing, now, and it's painful to listen to. Maybe they should change the song to "Lower".
Why are those people screaming?
Chris Stapleton is one heck of a singer/songwriter.
Once again, at a quick listen I thought Steve Earle or John Hyatt, both favorable comparisons IMHO.

I love his voice and his guitar skills are top notch!! I'm more a fan of his rock leaning songs than country - but a fan nonetheless!!  His rendition of the National Anthem during the Superbowl was one of the best IMO.
We need more Stapleton on RP.

Not my favorite song of his, but I'm glad to hear him on RP.

Okay. I'll bite. What is your favorite Stapleton song?
Nice lyrics, written from the heart.  Deserves a high mark.
7.1 with only 26 signers.  This should get high real soon.
his voice reminds me of another Chris... But this one is deceased in suspicious ways...
Not my favorite song of his, but I'm glad to hear him on RP.
Gonna go 7 to start.
