''Come on
Love my girl
She lookin' good
Feel it, come on
One more''

Five to one, baby
One in five
No one here gets out alive, now
You get yours, baby
I'll get mine
Gonna make it baby if we try

The old get old
And the young get stronger
May take a week and it may take longer
They got the guns but we got the numbers
Gonna win, yeah, we're takin' over
Come on!

Your ballroom days are over, baby
Night is drawin' near
Shadows of the evenin'
Crawl across the years
You walk across the floor
With a flower in your hand
Tryin' to tell me no one understands
Trade in your hours for a handful of dimes
Gonna make it, baby, in our prime

Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time

Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time

Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together one more time

Ahhh!

''Hey, come on, honey
You go along home and wait for me, baby
I'll be there in just a little while
You see, I gotta go out in this car
With these people and get...''

Get together one more time
Get together one more time
Get together, got to
Get together, got to
Get together, got to
Take you up in the mountains and... ha ha ha ha ha

''Love my girl
She lookin' good, lookin' real good
Love ya, come on''

At least it doesn't have that CRINGE inducing organ.

I Agree!!  I love that fuzz-bass.
At 18 years old my parents asked me why I wasn't looking for a job.  I responded loftily that I was unwilling to "trade my hours for a handful of dimes".  I think that was the first time I ever heard my father swear.
Great tune for the coming revolution....I say Long Live RP and short live the corporate run "democracy" in America!!

I never loved them, thought they were important enough to listen to a little but probably never sat thru an entire album. I like them a little more these days. It's clear (to me) that the White Stripes owe a lot to the Doors, this album especially. I think.
Hmm, Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison, who's next? Curt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix oder Janis Joplin? Could be the 27 Club playlist ;-)

Same thing. I'm pretty sure it was just a high school phase.

I know what you mean. Maybe its time to make an appointment with the urologist.

Now that's funny!

Pretty sure Jay-Z could have pulled it off if "Five to One" had never been recorded.

Not the best Doors song by a long shot. It sounds dated tonight, but the album is almost 45 years old. The Doors have been (somewhat) relevant a lot longer than most of their contemporaries and I doubt that Jay-Z's "The Takeover" will last anywhere near as long as most of the stuff Jim and the boys put out.

No one sounds new and dangerous forever. Not even Beethoven.

Interesting. I would say that this is their finest. Soft Parade is difficult to listen to. The driving bass penetrates my soul on this one.
I shot at "The Greatest Generation"
Since the early 90's when Jim's fantasy became reality-  We screwed everything up more then they ever did.

Thanks for playing the Doors. What a great and original band.
Just godlike,a 10 from amsterdam.
I tried, I really did, back in my Devotion to Hippiedom Days.  But I never ever liked the Doors.  They strike me as raspy and whiney - amplified kvetching.  It sounds like they are singing the same note over and over again.  A misery to hear.
Hmmm....never been a Doors fan but I'm likin' this one. {#Think}

I'd amend that statement.  The lead singer of VAST (Jon Crosby) sounds like Jim Morrison.  There's about a 40 year stretch in age there.

Dude must have been able to transport everybody in the audience, including (my opinion) his own bandmates.  Never got a chance to see the Doors, in any incarnation.  My bad.

Some of the comments below are absolutely hilarious! You can really see the splits between the generations
Wow...takes me back to my college days.....one more time.

If you are going to play The Doors, why not play the good stuff?  Especially since there is much to choose from.

This IS the good stuff, Mr. Magoo!
Jimbo always maintained that too.

In that case, Céline Dion awaits you....

There's really not that much - they only recorded about 65 tunes, many of which are either terribly dated (like this one) or painfully over-played.

This comment makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time ...

{#Whisper}Purty sure it is the other way around.

One of the most vicious attack songs in the history of rap, all thanks to The Doors.

one of my personal favourite songs of the band! it's also brilliantly used by Jay-Z btw....
NOW I remember why my Mom didn't want me listening to the Doors!  Sorry, Mom, you just didn't understand!

You're not alone, which says a lot for the Oasis song for me, because I'm not an Oasis fan.

'Sactly.

"Tradin' your hours for a handful of dimes." It doesn't get anymore succint than that.

OK, now play Jay-Z's "The Blueprint" which heavily samples this song (and makes the riff actually interesting).

For me, nothing much more to be said about them after "Strange Days."  Nonetheless, a groundbreaking band.

It's funny, I was only half listening, and thought 'this sounds like somebody trying to sound like The Doors'. Not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

I reckon it's better than The Soft Parade.

{#Lol} Comedy Gold!

Uh huh !  Works the same for me as when it was new.  What am awesome album released during a most magical summer.

Also from this album, The Unknown Soldier, one of the most controversial songs ever written.
