repetitive and boring
It is amazing that these guys put out 4 great albums during a  3 year period!  This is in spite of the fact that Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker were always at odds,  sometimes leading to physical altercations, with Clapton often acting as a referee. This animosity lasted well into their later years.
Ooh!  Eric is not in the good books is he..

I'm glad that we don't have to listen to YOUR playlist!
Not-so-fresh Cream
I'm so glad when this awful song is over.
I guess the cream doesn't always rise to the top :/

“I’m So Glad” was an old blues tune written by Nehemiah “Skip” James. When the band recorded the song, they made sure that Skip received the royalties he was entitled to, something that was not often done in those days. The money probably gave him some comfort in his last years. Skip had the opportunity to see Cream perform his song on stage before he succumbed to cancer in 1969. Jack Bruce received a letter of gratitude from his widow.

Yeah, it got on my late father's nerves too.  We were riding along in my car one day when this came on FM.  After listening for a few minutes, I could see he became visibly annoyed.  He grew up in the era of Peggy Lee, South Pacific, Sinatra and a thousand other crooners of often well written songs.   "I'm glad he's glad, I'll sell him some new lyrics..."

I'm sad there's not a play it again button so I can hear those drums, bass and guitar more than once.  Bill...

Too bad so many here can't get into the repetition. Sometimes when you're glad, that's all you really have to say about it. Probably made more sense in the 60s if you were stoned.

Most of the time I'm glad that I'm glad. It's a good feeling. Then, most of time I'm glad that I'm able to be glad about being glad. That's an even better feeling. Imagine not being able to do that. So glad I can.
Also.. I'm glad to hear the backstory on the song.
My mother bought this as reel-to-reel and all of us wore that player out with this and other gems such as Pearl by Janis Joplin. I’m so glad.
OK. We get it. You're glad.
If only they were 'glad'

Is Jack Bruce even attempting to "sing" to a melody? His singing in some way is dissociated from the song itself. Maybe deliberate, but odd. Dissonance as a vocal tool is not the usual, is it? I think this is a pretty great piece of work.
Great threesome sound of 1966. Solid 9.
I'm coming to dig the new RP app. When it gives you negative comments at the top you know that there will be some choice pieces of wisdom to follow 😁

A song lyric like this makes you start hearing the word "glad" as sounding odd. It's a strange phenomenon, like when you notice someone speaking with "um" in between several words...after a while it's all you hear.

I'm glad I made this comment. Are you glad you read it? Probably not.

This was an 'odd' thing to say.  i 'gladly' point it out.

Hmmm. Ya sorry they don't play your Kanye hits here.

Hahaha - Kanye, right. Nope. But I just read some comments about the origin. Very decent but I still find the song tedious to listen to.

Reminds me of a terrible pun: although the lion didn't normally eat female tourists, in the end he was gladiator...

Sorry, one more time just so I'm clear....are you sad or glad?
This arrangement is brilliantly covered by London-based outfit Cream of Hendrix; the harmonies are phenomenal

A friend once told me that this song came from what was called a "field holler", sung by black slaves in the fields.  Skip James took that chant and made a song out of it.
I'm so glad he's glad. (Is this a wrap song?)

Yes, I agree. The guitar break — big surprise — makes the track.
One time, riding along in a car with my late father, this blasting on the tape or radio, he had the same reaction of bafflement. Holy shit, did they run out of lyrics?! He's glad, I'm glad, we're all glad.  I'll be glad when this noise is over!

Ha! I'm glad that he was my dad.

Skip James did it better!
Settles the argument over pain being the basis of true art.

It starts to sound like "I'm so blind!" Ha Ha.  Still great!
Not my favourite Cream song.  But oh so happy to hear it anyways.

I'm so glad RP plays Cream but I wish these lyrics said a little more.  Still, it's Cream so I'm diggin' the guitar.
it is 1966....but listen to the drumwork!
It seems to me being glad is still as easy :)
I'll be Glad when it's over! 5

I think his being glad is given, it's if he's glad he's glad that might be the question.  Or, is he glad he's glad he's glad....lol....I've actually re-bumped this to an 8, had it at a 7 for awhile (cuz it's a pretty silly song in a lot of ways) and I'm glad that he was grateful and shared that with us (albeit it over and over and over and over again) - Long Live RP!!

Well, I'm glad that you're glad that he's glad that he's glad, . . . er, I think.  ; )

With a song like that...  who needs complex lyrics?  :-)

This song is a perfect demonstration for semantic satiation.
Sitting in my bedroom in 7th grate with my Zenith stereo with detachable speakers blasting "I'm so glad" LOL
Questioning the repetition of the lyrics is missing the point: what the hell is the message here? These might be thrown-together lyrics (rock does allow this) but maybe there is another level? Maybe not exactly profound, but trying to say something almost hidden?

You dont' mind quite so much when you're trippin' on Sunshine and your shoes laces are blowing your mind.
I'm glad Bill is playing this! Thanks Bill!
