Trying to save your face
Need some lovin girl know I have it
Just to decorate your place
Dog my cat
Can't you scratch that itch
Things were more simple
When we didn't have a stitch
Bring that thing oh back home
Bring that thing back home
Well lord I need forgiveness
For the methods I use
I believe I can overcome them well
Talking about the blues
These hard times
They sink you down just like a stone
But you don't stop praying oh lord no don't stop praying cause
You gonna make it home
Bring that thing back home
Bring that thing back home
Some folks tried and some folks failed
Living without love somehow
Well that might float you know but I kind of doubt it cause
It;s sure been fun up till now
I might be the one
I'm laying silver down in your hand
Whatever else I may or may not be
I swear I'll always be your man
Bring that thing back home
Bring that thing back home
Richard Thompson be cool?
Thanks, as always, B&R.
fantastic music
Thx Bill for playing the best
Can't help but wonder if all that physical beauty seeps in to his amazing skills on his varied instruments, and in to his songwriting.
Well done, sir. I have been looking forward to catching one of your live gigs for some time.
Try to catch him. Saw him years ago when they were doing 'lobby' concerts at the Kennedy Center. Excellent concert and he hung around afterwards selling and signing CDs and talking with everyone. Class act.

Maybe he's just reminding himself of his one job: bring money home, lay the silver in her hand.
It's either about plate tectonics or starfish; I can't remember which.
Malarkey.
Been there often.
I was going to say that was some kcar vs proclivities shit going down, but jump roping dogs kind of stole the show.

Seen Harry do this tune several times and he is always good, sometimes great.
Loves a good pun too.
Had his Mohan Veena stolen last year, anyone know if he got it back?

That's quite a comparison to S R Vaughan
Plus no visible effort.
Perhaps the 7 years apprenticeship in India helped a tad.

I can imagine you right now, playing your guitar and rhythmically typing your post with a pencil in your mouth! Since I'm doing the same thing, I can't raise my hand, but I'm with you!

Great song!!! Way to get behind the mule Harry!
Cool song. I don't know WTF he's going on about, but his voice is captivating and the sound hypnotising. 8 from the dirty-minded Nottingham jury.

Huh??
I think you meant to reply to AdyMiles's comment?
I quite like this tune!
. . . Like every comment you make.
poor vancouve, sometimes that brings a peace of mind you dont have. listen to that harmonica! if you cant get pleasure out of this you probably have problems elsewhere!
blues, they are hard times.
An expression of astonishment... Early printed uses include Mark Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and the O. Henry story "Memoirs of a Yellow Dog" ..From Chapter 15 in Huckleberry Finn, Jim says "...but dog my cats ef it ain't de powerfullest dream I ever see."
Well dog my cat - I did not know that!
Thanks ewesto2!

Did Excelsior move to England and change his name?
I suppose this will be lost on you, but again, posting the words "no comment" is not the same as actually, you know, not making a comment. But I don't get the impression you're thinking about it very hard, so I won't bother to discuss it further with you.
I get the impression he is saying: "this is a 9, end of discussion", or "this is so much a 9 that I don't want to hear your feeble dissenting arguments".
Dear AdyMiles:
Please make a positive comment now and then. It would be a refreshing change. Thank you.
I love it.

The first use of this I recall was an early Preston Sturges movie entitled "Christmas in July".
These days this might refer to following cats hoping to spy on them having sex but I'd hope that such a 'modern' meaning of 'dogging' (see Wikipedia) wouldn't have applied in the days when this song was written ;)

can you understand that situations exist where to say "no comment" mean to say "everything"?: or, if you want, "silence is gold", ty. - 9.

Uh, dude, just so you know: it's kind of annoying to keep reading your comments saying "No comment." If you don't want to make a comment, how about not posting that you're not making a comment?
Far out, Catherwood...roll another bomber and leave it on the sidetable.
thanks for this one, it's such a great song...

I have spent countless hours minutes trying to decipher calypsus_1's song comments with limited success. Why post "no comment" when not posting a comment is essentially the same thing? What on earth does "no comment" mean to say "everything" mean, anyway? (The more I read that the more it sounds like nonsense). I am utterly confused.
In order to maintain my limited grasp on sanity, I have decided to simply skip over and not read any comments I see that are made in a dark blue, bold typeface.
I think that is a very fine plan of action, which I will adopt.
Of course, now he'll probably just change the color of the typeface. But I am adaptable.

I'm not getting the "no comment" thing either. If the dude/dudette wants people to know he/she rated it a 9 just post 9. Adding "no comment" is kinda weird.
