Used to listen to this album a ton back in 2007-2008 thanks to RP. Haven't listened in a while. Time to add to the regular rotation again. I can always rely on RP to remind me of the excellent musical taste that I have because of RP!!

Kinda like the Clash meets David Bowie meets Talking Heads...kinda. In other words they have their own sound...and its really cool!
Rouen is where I filled my diesel car with petrol (gas) and had to have the tank drained. Nearly missed the ferry home to England.

I've read these lyrics twice thru and they are not political. My wife's an English professor and she says the lyrics are using lots of generic nouns like "stuff" that are meaningless. I think the comments here ARE political...but the lyrics sound more like something safe about subjective emotions to sing while the (good) music is playing. The lyrics are pretty generic so they can mean lots of different things to lots of different people.
As for obama being a socialist, that's just right-wing propaganda. He was a liberal senator but has (according to most of the pols) become a centrist president in order to get consensus. Sensible. Leans to the left. Politics has nothing to do with these lyrics. And "supergrass" probly does refer to marijuana, but who cares? It's a rock band. ! :-) Relax, sit back, and tap your fingers and toes to the beat.

I am forced to think of FlatOut 2 when hearing this song - it was the menu soundtrack. Over-use made this a bit grating at times, but hearing it in the middle of an RP playlist is ok.

Sometimes it's justified and necessary when the song itself has a strong political message (Michael Franti and Spearhead, for instance, sing explicit agitprop), but for relatively apolitical songs it's unnecessary and distracting. But what the hey, it's like some guys who go along to football matches for no other purpose but to vent their spleen - it serves a social purpose, I guess.

This reminds me of Brian Eno & David Byne's My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts. In a good way.
There never seems to be much buzz about these guys but they have been making great music under the radar for over a decade. I've liked everything I've heard off this disc.

Trying to find out what guitar riff the main one in this song reminded me of, distracted me from really listening to the music. It's I Want to Take You Higher by Sly and the Family Stone! Reading the comments it reminds people of lots of songs, riffs.

I bought this album used recently, based on what I had heard on RP. What surprised me was how many of the songs I have heard here are on that one album. Yet, never heard anything by the band anywhere else.
Great band. A million times stronger than half of the brit bands that made it big through the 90s...
