I got nothing
You got something
I feel out of place
Looking through your window
Into the delicate place
Reflections stating obvious mating holds

I'll own up to you if you own up to me
I'll picture for you if you picture for me

Have you got the answer
Have I yet won the part
Is this just your way of breaking my heart
Everyone denies it but they just want to be told

I'll hold if for you if you hold it for me
I'll picture for you if you picture for me
The delicate place
The questions it raise
The delicate place

I got nothing
You got something
I feel out of place
Looking through that window
Into the delicate place

I'll own up to you if you own up to me
I'll picture for you if you picture for me
The delicate place
The questions it raise
The delicate place yeah
The delicate place yeah
The delicate place yeah

I'm a bit slow of the mark with this one.
No.
Dear B&R:

how about some stuff from the band that inspired, for all I know, this band's name?
I love this piece.........

I'll have to agree.  My appreciation for Spoon has really grown.  I've noticed the higher my opinion of a band the less I tolerate "average" songs. And yet those "average" songs are still really good.

Not their best song in an overall very good album.

I think I shouldn't like this song.... but after years I still love me some Spoon.
Dandy!
Wait... I have a red hooded robe laying around, that'll be good for your album cover...

Nicely done.

Unfortunately, on second listen, it's still a solid 'ho-hum' for me.

That is the truth. I also had it low rated........obvious 8,     {#Yes}

Love the ending giggles.

The stereo separation, cool and slinky timing, and multi-layered arrangement on this sexy thang are exquisitely seductive — LOVE IT!
There's something ok in there somewhere but I go off any song that has sounds that make me wonder whether my speakers are broken.
 Just read a new album due this Spring...sweeeet! {#Hungry}
hmmm. i started dancing spontaneously. Could be a good song, no?
I second that emotion about seeing them live. Caught them a few years ago at SCALA in London, they ripped the place apart.
If you ever get a chance to see these wacky guys jam on stage in front of you, do it! I dug them before I saw 'em; dig 'em even more after!
Amazing band.
Alright. Which band member's new girl friend was it?
So much JAM going on in every song of theirs...  I always tend to grin when a Spoon tune comes on -- and for sure, I always CRANK IT!
I am curiously caught between the catchiness, and my ears wanting to bleed, ever so slightly. Hmm.
A few good sounds from this band, but it's hard to accept most of their sound when the lead singer's voice is not very good....{#No}

Now that is a direct and unattributed crib from Private Eye!

They both came into existence out of other bands about the same time, one in England the other in the U.S.  Contrary to sirdroseph's opinion I think that they're both great bands.  I find that Kula Shaker is more bombastic and much more psychedelic sounding with Spoon being more raw and kind of rustic.
This ROCKS! Very cool tune.  Never heard it before now....
I am enjoying this. Nothing else to say, but yeah...I'm enjoying this. So deep!{#Cheers} Probably the only time I ever Wikipedia'd the word SPOON...and actually didn't get the band, but a full blown wiki article about what else?....a spoon! Yeah baby!

Wow, what? !!!!!!!!!!
Great tension and anticipation, restraint and pent-up power...
Gimme SPOON

Makes me want to DANCE
Absolutely love the drums in this one !

Heh, looked at the playlist wrong and went crazy trying to prove that the lead singer of Spoon was also lead singer of Jump Little Children, cuz I knew this had to be Britt Daniel.  Figured he was just doing the Ben Gibbard thing.

Who cares? Spoon is great! Kula Shaker.......not so much.{#No}

I agree with you, I can't think of anybody that sounds like Spoon. They are an American original, and a cool one at that.

They've got their own unique sweet n sour sound. An original for sure. Nirvana was another band that comes to mind with similar qualities.

Edit - It just hit me that Britt Daniel sounds a bit like Ric Ocasik from The Cars, but of course Spoon sounds nothing like The Cars.

He sounds like Ian Hunter to me...

I wonder if this lead singer likes cougar's......sexy older women?...wow...see that was me giggling.....

i have ticket to spoon's up coming show in seattle, can't wait!
New Spoon CD out in January!

Actually I think on this song they sound a bit like XTC
Ahhhh....that's better.  Has already cleared the room of Jump Little Children stench.

I've always heard some Pixies influence in their music, but maybe it's just the odd time signatures, and a little hint of menace underneath even the sweetest harmonies. Whatever it is, I love it.

It's where you don't want to be kicked or spill hot coffee on...

Interesting you mention children liking Spoon. My son has loved them since he was two (now six) and his favorite song is "My Mathematical Mind" from this album. Lots of distortion, and yet he's completely drawn to it. I saw them at the Austin City Limits Festival in 2004 and have been passionate about them ever since.

While the last song (Vertigo by Jump Little Children) is beautiful, but sounds alot like other things, Spoon has managed to carve out a very distinctive furrow in the musical landscape.  Would you believe me if I told you that was an unintended pun until right before I typed furrow?  Anyway, they don't sound like anyone but themselves to me (<—- notice the "to me" bit there?).

I'm starting to really like these guys. Another band I never would have heard if not for RP. :)

9. I'm hugely into this disc. I saw them on Austin City Limits this week. This was one of the songs they played. I saw them live at the ACL 3-day music festival in Sept. 07. I really like Spoon, but we had a hard time hanging out and listening to them live. They just didn't sound right, but there could be many factors at play there (e.g. I'm sure running sound on an outdoor, open air stage with music playing concurrently on 6 other stages isn't the easiest thing in the world). That said, I still love their stuff, and love that this song followed Wilco... those two were my favorite bands in 2007.
I Love this - So playful!!!!!

Man, I sorta think Spoon does quite nicely in the variety department.
This band does well. Their music has that unique sound even if their songs can sound a lot alike. That being said, this is a cool tune, great beat, good buildup to the end. But they have much better. Solid 7.
For my ears, it sounds as follows: Rated 4.
Shades of older New Folk Implosion stuff.
The old-timer DJs sure do love this band. Bob Boilen is a fan, too.
The monotony is putting me to sleep. The beat is good and so is the drumming, but the singing has neither tunefulness nor emotion--though the part with the two voices is good. I am trying to like it, but I keep dozing off. No, it really is boring and the singers are pedestrian. The album cover is beautiful, evocative, striking. Maybe other songs than this go better with the cover.
I'll picture for you if you picture for me but i wanna hold the camera!
ACL is where I first heard/saw them (TV, not there unfortunately). I bought the album based on that, and was pleased that the non-live performance was better, although I thought the roughness worked in the live setting. I bet it was more compelling in person. supergroverx wrote:

Hey, these guys are good. Yeah, I'll own up to it.
In the immortal words of "The Tick"... SPOOOOON!!!!
How about playing some older Spoon? Kill the Moonlight is even better than Gimme Fiction...
You know... "down there".
i love everything else i've heard from this album, but this particular tune doesn't really do anything for me... oh well, it's not bad.
my favorite tune from one of my very favorite albums!
I love this entire album!
Me likes me spoons! While I'm at it I'll pass along a thought off the top of my head (yeah, I know you care). Since adopting eyeToonz as my primary means of music conveyance, I have been in the habit of making playlists, burning them to CD and not listening to complete CD's nearly as much as I used to. This song hasn't made it onto one of my compilations, and it makes me realize I need to listen to the whole album. I'm sure there are other songs I am neglecting. Funny how the Internet and cornputer have changed the music experience - mostly for the good, as with our dear old RP.
