Ya know I like this a lot and all...but damn, it seems to remind me of the soap operas my mom would watch on TV in the afternoon...c'mon, you hear it right?
That's ALL I hear. Days of Our Young and Restless Lives on the Edge of Night lit by the Guiding whatever... And don't you know I own the album!
Yep, just another hack like Satie or Debussy.
We all know music is crap unless it's very complicated.
Or was it "Guiding Light"?
Ah, the sparse, spare, Scandinavian minimalism is immediately apparent, even without her singing on this number. It's strange how such minimalist music gets me just there. 9 from the Scandophile Nottingham jury.
Pleasant but VERY basic. Sounds like something a GCSE Music pianist could compose.
I'm a classically-trained pianist doing a master's degree in film composition and I'm here to say you're wrong.
Sorry but worst song ever!

Thank you for your article, I know nothing about complementary music. https://sonnerietelephone.fr/
William's been in Europe too long. This is a shameless plug for another music website. Maybe RP is promoting this website as part of their new business model or this is an oversight but it's clear some policing of RP needs to be done.

My God! You put your finger on it. Definitely sounds like the desperate, dramatic and plaintive music that accompanied many of the soap operas my grandmother watched.
Mr. Satie did influence hundreds (if not thousands) of pianists and composers. This song does have a lot of that tension and dissonance that Satie brought about with minor chords and major sevenths.
Sure, Satie. I would not be able to explain it that profoundly, but I guess you've nailed it :-)
I also hear the spirit of Satie
indeed
Hate those glitches.. it's been happening to me all day. I'm ok with Joni, but I'd be disappointed to miss Agnes Obel!
I get those, too. It takes a page refresh to get the stream going again. Sometimes it picks up where it left off, sometimes I get something else...Joni would be OK.
not a good substitute

Perhaps if this is the second song you've ever heard, and you really liked the first one a lot.
Worst song ever belongs to Yoko Ono.
You obviously don't get out much.
And she's got a brand-new album...

I swear that I thought that is what was playing when I walked into the kitchen and I couldn't figure out how my husband would have THAT on.

Too soon.......

Why? Please elaborate more on that!
my thoughts too
While the modal character resonates, her music is not as subtle - This is the age of compromise.
edit: ha, as soon as I posted that^^^ the song changed. I HAVE THE POWER!!!
I shut down my RP app and that didn't help. Then I actually rebooted my tablet because I thought there was an app process that was having an issue. I guess someone had to kick the station.

Never really picked up on it before this. Agnes sounds exactly like Fiona Apple
So I guess I didn't just imagine already hearing that psychedelic little Simon & Garfunkel diddy, eh?
Yes, wonder if there is an owl in profile on the back.
Nope
(I see I'm not the only one who hears a resemblance with Erik Satie.)
Correction noted. I am pretty sloppy with typos but I put extra effort into names. If I mis-spell a name then it is probably deliberate. I did look up the spelling of his name before I posted it but I still got it wrong. I post most comments from the iphone now and I try to get them out by the first half of the song so i can go back and do a few edits before the song is over.
rdo, I only mentioned it because it just so happens that a family member has the same name as said actor, but with the extra "e" in the last name.
my thoughts too
Wow. I really like everything I've heard from this effort. My oldest son has recently taken up piano partially inspired by this this and the Lucovido Einaudi and similar minimalists I've played for him...
rdo, I believe that the last name of the Michael of the Halloween series of movies was spelled, Myers. I say this not to be an uptight stickler, but rather because I have a somewhat personal stake in the matter.

Reminds me of the Michael Meyers theme song a bit...from Halloween ..or just horror flick soundtracks more generally...creepy yet lovely.

Yes! *That's* what it made me think of. I couldn't put my finger on it!

Yes, it's autumn....
