It can take a long, long time
To find a reason and a rhyme
One minute you're dancing, wild and free
Next thing you know, you can hardly move your feet

Won't you, won't you wait for me?
I'm almost there, have faith in me
You say you know what I should do
But you have never walked a mile
In my shoes

I keep trudging up the hill
It feels like I'm standing still (standing still)
Pouring rain soaks to the bone
I shield my eyes and lean into the bitter cold

Won't you, won't you wait for me?
I'm almost there, have faith in me (faith in me)
You say you know what I should do
But you have never walked a mile (walked a mile, walked a mile)
In my shoes

Won't you, won't you wait for me?
I went so close, have faith in me (faith in me)
You say you know what I should do
But you have never walked a mile (walked a mile, walked a mile)
Won't you, won't you wait for me?
I'm almost there, have faith in me (faith in me)
You keep saying what I should do
But you have never walked a mile (walked a mile, walked a mile)
In my shoes

great Kate Bush song!
I could swear I'm hearing a nursery rhyme in the chorus, like one used as a taunt.  Not sure of the words, but I know I heard it a long time ago.  Still a good song.
Almost everything  she's been doing in the last 10 years is amazing.
Waiting for the new album...
Why would you make any assumptions about this artist killing whales? What happened to innocent before proven guilty. Stop spreading stupid nonsense in your cause.
I wonder if this artist participates in Grindadráp? If so, I will PSD.  Grindadráp is the local name for a yearly event that sees the people of the Faroe Islands, a self-governing archipelago under Denmark, hunt long-finned pilot whales as well as other species of cetaceans such as bottlenose dolphins, white-sided dolphins and Risso’s dolphins. A disgusting "tradition" that needs a modern take, i.e. stop it! Much like shooting Great Plains  bison from a passing train.  They The Faroese may not be able to figure this out themselves due to the high levels of mercury they're consuming in whale meat. Let's help them understand this is unsustainable bullshit.
A Nordic Kate Bush?

One could add Ane Brun to this "category" - another incredible vocalist from the North, all amazing. There is a subtle echo of melodic style, but each is their own.

I sure am glad Bill and Co. like all these female vocalists and play them so frequently here on RP!
Its an interesting place where she was born and grew up.

We need definitely more of her and in Faroese: just sounds amazing.
Cool... This is one of many artists that we are presenting at The National Art Center in Ottawa for our 2022 Summer Programming

Whoah, awesome -- Eivor was involved in that, one of the best and most compelling historical spectacles of all time? I heard this incomparably wonderful woman's voice on RP well before I saw The Last Kingdom. I felt thrilled, every episode of every season, incredible soundtrack included! She's an amazing artist; a true force of Nature!

I think she may also be an extra in the first episode. Look for a singer in Breda's first scene when she determines what her tribe/clan will do in regard to invading.

I think the new season is about to drop.  Have to go back and rewatch the last ones.

This album is available in a Faroese version on iTunes (UK).  As ever, with music which I suspect has had English bolted on afterwards, I find the cadences of the original language suit the music better. YMMV...
She's a siren calling us from wuthering heights.

I love this more and more every time I hear it. She absolutely grabs me. Lovely song, intriguing artist. The rarest treats are often the best.
this one has grown on me… I love it.

But she's trudging up that hill, not running... nevermind.

All I could hear was: In fact at first all I could hear was the ghost of that tune and it probably took me an hour just to figure out what song was (sucks when you don't know but snippets and wrong lyrics).
Makes me want to emigrate!
I'm hearing shades of "Close Call" by Rilo Kiley.
How versatile RP is: never thought to listen to music from the Faroe Islands.
just lovely
Apparently I’m not the first to observe how much she sounds like Kate Bush in this song.

To be clear, I was mocking the folks who try to lump woman musicians into the same box, and agree with you completely.
Here's a live version of Røttu Skógvarnir (I'm guessing in the original Faroese):

That's funny! I was thinking Norah Jones!
Lawdy with RP commenteers. Now I'll never be able to listen to Faroe Islands artists and their songs without thinking of Will Ferrell.

I dig it. Though, I keep half expecting Will Ferrell to join in for a duet.
Must be the daughter of Kate  Busch.....
Faroes FTW
Mmmm, hits the spot.

This is a beautiful and compelling pop song.

That is where I have heard Eivør before.

I just did the same thing...and for sure Eivor sounds like KB, just a bit "cuter?" sounding, and not cute as in looks (there's that too for sure!) - can't quite articulate it....still....Long Live RP and all the singers from the Faroe Islands!!

She really reminds me of Kate Bush in this song (though I've not heard any other by her yet!). Diggin' it ;) Beautiful <3
Thank you for playing this again. I always forget to look up the artist, this reminds me a little bit of Kate Bush’s stuff from the 1980s.

Is it the way they tug at the old heart strings? Any way, I'm 100% with you there!
Yet another good reason to listen to RP - delightful.

Discovered another artist I like just from listening to RP.
Wonderful

The Kate/Tori comparison is dull and overblown. I think it's hilarious that two artists can have such huge catalogues of self-written/produced solo work and somehow be conflated as if they were versions of the other. Mild vocal similarities and composing on piano =/ sameness. If this logic were applied to every man with a guitar...

Eivor is MUCH more than just a (very good) Kate Bush-alike, though - had the unexpected pleasure of seeing her play a very intimate gig while knowing nothing about her and indeed, one of her singing styles (found in quite a bit of her English work) is very much like classic Kate Bush (and this song kinda fits into that, although this is a fairly unmemorable track tbh). However, she also has lots of different vocal styles and influences - her Faeroese work is quite different and relies a lot on percussion and a sort of folk keening (which is atmospheric and arresting)... also she shifts down into what feels close to inuit throat singing in places. Really versatile and gifted singer, who sounded impeccable live - and would definitely recommend giving her more of a chance than "Kate Bush impersonator" territory. Her work on the soundtrack for The Last Kingdom alone is haunting and beautiful.

I really like the sounds in this song, kind of reminds me of sound effects from radio plays.  I also like the message of personal perspective, heck, if this was a common thought most folks had I think the entire population would be better off.  It's a 7 for me for now.  Long Live RP!!
