For those wishing that this awesome song would somehow be pushed down to a Sucko-Barfo by like minded individuals, I hate to tell you…you are in the vast minority. It currently sits (deservedly) between Pretty Good and Quite Likeable! Ha ha ha!!

hi hi..{#Dancingbanana}
Zarba. Absolutely. Makes me grin. Always...
My God, this is one of the best pop songs to come out of that era. Great tune, good harmonies, crystal clear production. It doesn't get any better than this.
One of MY all-time favorites -- who ARE you people saying nasty things about Nick Lowe?
A keeper, indeedy! This song reminds me of working at the dry cleaners everyday after my senior year in high school. Yes. I am old.
You detractors are obviously 'Now' people.
Cruel to be kind? No you don't.
Not all pop-ish tunes suck. This one is a keeper. Kind of has that Jeff Lynn/ELO thing going on.

No, it's worse: it's bad AM radio in 128k hi-fi--meaning you can hear just exactly how utterly awful it is.

Reminds me of the archies, or happy, shiny comic book goodness like that. no reason to freak out, it's just a little pop song :)
I agree completely with all your points. Not a bad song by any means, but not one of my favorites either.

Wow, I've never heard this version of this song before this morning, when I heard it on WERS in Boston... before that I only knew that version that plays during the credits of 10 Things I Hate About You.. I'm the COOLEST!
Yeah, it's sad when the only place you can hear Nick Lowe's version is on a college-run non-commercial station. Public radio forever!

Great, fun tune. Enjoyable early MTV video.
REPULSIVE! Not to mention shallow, repetitive, insipid, vapid . . . etc.
FANTASTIC!! \:D/
this is a classic - great freaking song
My only affection, however slight, comes from the fact that this song is covered by Letters to Cleo in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You. <-(
No better pop song . . .

Let's get this to the sucko-barfo rating it deserves

Well, it's certainly no Cliff Richard!
Hey, I'm from England where Cliff Richard is a national treasure - like buttered white bread. And CR never put this bad a song on a CD. (Of course, I never listened to a CR CD, I just can't imagine a worse song on any CD.)
danceable but cool song!!!

The kind of song a roller rink would play back in the day
Whoa - I thought I'd been hijacked to a bad 80's stream in cyber purgatory. Then I realized that this is the type of song that makes me appreciate (nearly) everything else you play...

It's good yanks do not apppreciate this, that leaves more copies for the rest of you cats, right. Heard better at Renzo's down on the corner last Wednesday.
this is such a cute song! i love it!
Mainstream but quite likeable.
I give it an 8! Good song!
*yawn*
This is just sad.......
Nick Lowe is simply one of the best songcrafters ever. That this became a hit is deserved; that he hasn't had more is a myssssssssstery.

Sorry Scott... Adjustment complete
Heh. First 4 people to rate it gave it a 10. I've never seen that. And then a monkey shows up with his finger on the 1. Damn. This reminds me that I found RP when I Googled for Nick Lowe one day. RP used to list on Shoutcast, iTunes, etc. as Eclectic...Rock playing Nick Lowe, etc. (or something to that effect.)
Cruel to Be Kind is one of the stupidest songs I've ever heard.
