Day I've ever known
Can't live for tomorrow,
Tomorrow's much too long
I'll burn my eyes out
Before I get out
I wanted more
Than life could ever grant me
Bored by the chore
Of saving face
Today is the greatest
Day I've ever known
Can't wait for tomorrow
I might not have that long
I'll tear my heart out
Before I get out
Pink ribbon scars
That never forget
I tried so hard
To cleanse these regrets
My angel wings
Were bruised and restrained
My belly stings
Today is
Today is
Today is
The greatest day
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you on
I want to turn you
Today is the greatest
Today is the greatest day
Today is the greatest day
That I have ever really known
Maybe its just because I lived in Chicago or that I'm a Cub's fan but I love the Punkin's hard- edge. Southsider's gonna hate...
Same. Southsider's don't hate, they're jealous. LOL, not of the Cubs, that would be ridiculous!
How did they tune that chain saw under water, to get that sound?
Must be worthy of some kind of an award!

I can see where your name comes from.
In my humble opinion, The Smashing Pumpkins ain't great RnR. It ain't even good RnR.
Oooops, in case you need t know: RnR stands for "rock n roll". Something the Smashing Pumpkins never figured out. Oh...the pain, the angst, the anger, the despair!!!!
Can you feel it?
Sometimes the person picks the name, sometimes the name picks the person.
OMG!! A real battle betwixt y'all....oddly enough I think BD wrote a song about this type of thing.....
For those scoring at home, Idiot Wind 2 ScottishWillie 2 - who will break the tie (where's H8trhater when you NEED him!!?)
LONG LIVE RP!! Oh....I rate this a 5, which means it's a "good grungeish" song to me. PEACE!!!

Hmmm, that's exactly what my parents told me about "my" music when I was 17.
Their cover of "Landslide" is the single worst cover I've heard in the history of popular music. It's as incredibly awful as Taylor Swift trying to do a duet with Stevie Nicks and sounding like a sea hag.
It's...it's almost as if they have a formula for this.
It's...it's almost as if they are simply going through the motions. As if they are following a script.
No...that just could not be!
You seem to be comfortable with formulaic output.
I won, I won,,,,, I pushed PSD from the Cranberries Zombie , and this song came up.
Its like winning the lottery

Excellent! You know that I appreciate great RnR. Like what you find on Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks" album. Check out the song, "Idiot Wind".

If it's any comfort to you, I went through the same kind of thing as an angsty teenager (for me it was the Cure and the Smiths, not the Pumpkins), and it was the music that helped me get through it. Miserable music gives many of us a place to park our misery, and help us through the hard times. Things might have been much worse for your son if he didn't have a band like the Pumpkins helping him along.
That's a good point which a lot of people don't seem to understand. Sad or "miserable" music lets the listener know that there is at least one other person feeling pain - another person to whom they can relate. I was often more depressed by a lot of the "happy", Top 40 music of the mid-to-late'70s (Bee Gees, Carpenters, Eagles, etc.) than I was by the Lou Reed or other artists I listened to back then.
I imagine the sound of a screaming old bomber plane in a flaming nose dive trailing smoke and debris. Ah the aural joy of crashing guitars.
Alternative (always hated that name) lives on .
I bought this album back in the day but inexplicably failed to spot its greatness and it lay in hibernation on my shelf for almost two decades. However thanks to the rejuvenating power of Radio Paradise it has been resuscitated and now features very highly in the Davidson family play list with my teenage sons playing it often enough and loud enough to irritate their mother.
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this song today...
I got "Siamese Dream" as a throw-in for a Columbia House mail-order CD rip-off binge (yes, yes my name really is Hugh Jazz!) and I was amazed. Beat that disc to death for a while.
Can't say I'm thrilled with what they put out after they got back together.
Very bad emotions, whose memories will never dim with time.

I love this album, but it is definitely the latter - Ten is very aptly named.
This song is absolutely awesome... love it today as much as yesterday...
Only happened to me a couple of times, but the first time i heard this song, i KNEW it would be a classic.

Great track from a great album, segued in nicely between God Is an Astronaut and Joy Division. Nice."
——————-you guys getting lazy on us?
100%, but also Mellon Collie has a lot of very good stuff inside.
Don't know about that, but it is a damn fine song from a damn fine album.
The 90's also had the Smashing Pumpkins.
Perfect fit for a grey rainy UK summers day, whilst job hunting.
Hey, it's not often we agree but when it comes to the 'singing' of Mr. Corgan, I'm on your side. Vocalizing by Billy always sounds so painful for him, what with all the grunting and straining. In fact, I'm surprised he hasn't busted his spleen. Despite that, there are a few Smashing Pumpkins songs that I like, but I don't like them for the vocals, I like them for the music.
great song... love it...
Me too Mr Tuma.
Not in a century that also contained Neil Diamond and Michael Bolton it doesn't.
Your ears, not mine. Corgan's screeching is ear-bane!
A good tune with good memories associated with it. Infact when I first saw them live, they played this song. I was only a few feet away from the band with my girlfriend. It was one of the "greatest days of my life". It was also her first true concert.
Nice

Hey Bill, do something from Gish or somethin'. :)
My mom had one. It was so much fun to drive & plenty of leg room for a tall person like me....I miss that car...
Reminds me of 1993 in Santa Fe, NM when Smashing Pumpkins played Club Luna. That was a show!
Much easier to play on a real guitar though.
OK, but the drumming would be the simplest ever! Really. Same rhythm throughout the whole song. It annoys me and thrils me all at the same time.
Much easier to play on a real guitar though.
Love it-

Boy I sure was high a lot. Back when it was fun!
