I saw your shoes by the kitchen door
and I knew I missed you
I saw your shoes by the front door
and I began to miss you more
I saw your shoes on the landing
and lord I knew I cared
I saw your shoes pretty baby
and I longed to have you there.

I saw your shoes by the record player
and I wished you'd call me
I saw your shoes by the tv set
I prayed you'd call
I saw your shoes by the couch
and I longed to feel your touch, babe
I saw your shoes pretty baby
and I had to have you there.

I see your shoes by the shower stall
and I begin to wondering
I see your shoes by the bedroom door
and my hearts starts pounding.
I see your shoes at the foot of the bed
and I start laughing
I see your shoes, pretty baby,
but most of all I see you.

Thought this was Chrissy Hynde for a second, but lo and behold, the Cowboy Junkies (on speed) instead!
Cool.
Cool fuzzy guitar!
Good Tune!
Miss you, Lisanne L, and love you forever, not least for turning me on to these rocking Canadians! Fun & wild times we had in Noto shall live on in my mind forever!

Billy Joe MacAllister on speed...?

So those are Billy Joe MacAllisters shoes?
I like the CJ, OMG this does sound like Boots are made... I hated that song so much I can’t write the entire title.
These boots are made for walking?
OK, so there are exactly 2 Cowboy Junkies songs that I can tolerate. Bill, please, pretty please, just play those, 'cause the rest all sound identically dull.

ZZzzZZzzz...reliably dull. Wish I liked this band.
Somebody woke up the Cowboy Junkies.  Nice tune.
All I could hear after a few seconds is 'These Boots Are Made For Walking.  This is almost that bad.

Excellent. Now that we've identified their worst song, can we stop playing it?
boppinest CJ song ever, and it's still lame  holy shit read those lyrics what a joke
My ears like this less every time.  Sorry, fans.
Wow, i'll sound like a hater but this one... uggh.

I was digging the drums and repetitive lyrics but that horrendous attempt at lead guitar had me wincing and laughing. Seriously, the "solo" is note for note what anyone with 6 weeks of bad lessons can manage. And to top it off, the song ends with feedback wailing like the guy is dreaming of Hendrix, but sounding like 4th place at a middle school battle of the bands.

I like music. I like guitar. I like cowboy junkies. I can even appreciate music I don't like. But no one could argue that guitarist isn't awful. Exhibit A is every sour note.

edit: To be fair, I just listened to a live version to give the song another chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1fnnWKn_q0 and it removed all doubt but I'm not going to say any more because Mr. Timmins might visit this site. Don't give up the dream,  Buddy!

And a happy 420 to you, too, sir!  By the way, 420 is the major beer flavor of the Sweetwater Brewing Company, Atlanta, Georgia.  It goes down very easily, especially around 4:22 or 4:23 pm.

marvelous...  love it...

We be dancing in the pews...  love this song...

Everybody in my church loves this song...

Anyone else get "Tallahatchee Bridge" vibes from this song? RIP Billie Joe

Hey, glad you checked out my shoes. Did you know that These Boots Are Meant for Walkin'?

Nancy doesn't mind that you changed her song...
I've never heard this before - REALLY like it and surprised it was CJ...good stuff.

Always love hearing CBJs and this one is wonderful.

Didn't doubt it, just hadn't ever heard any evidence to support the theory.  Sounds pretty good.

Yeah, they are totally capable of being upbeat and interesting. When they want to.

Well, this ain't no slow, sad waltz!  It's got me tapping my foot (weird, for a Cowboy Junkies song...) and wondering if I still know how to dance like a maniac... {#Dancingbanana_2}{#Bananajam}

Agreed.
The guitar is just horrible sounding. Actually ruins a pretty good song.

Yeah......this is pretty bad.

I hope the similarity is intentional.
If so, I can understand, and perhaps see it as a bit of an homage.
If not... well then it's just not very well conceived.

They should release more outakes and b sides. I like this much better than almost all of their regular album output that I've heard.
not bad for one of the worst bands in the world.
Groooooooovy.!!
these boots were made for walking...
Great stuff... just upped my rating to a 9. I remember seeing the CJ's in Toronto in 1986 or so at the Rivoli, I think it was. :-)

And it should follow this track imo =)
A real shoesong,,Bill likes as much as iI do,would be Boys in high heel ones,,can not be overplayed Bill!! This one only #5
Got a shoe thing going this morning Bill? ('In These Shoes?' -> 'I Saw Your Shoes') How 'bout 'The Big Shoe Dance' next?
This person seems to own a lot of shoes that they profligately leave strewn about. I'd suggest someone with less interest in their pedal extremities, and more interest in housekeeping.

Just what I was gonna say!
guitar mixed way too low .. I'll bet it has a great fuzz edge to it up another couple notches. Otherwise, pretty good .... for the C.J.'s ...

Zowie! Nice to hear an upbeat CJ song - and definitely great it's not "Sweet Jane!' Sing it, Margo!!

You must be deaf not hearing that!

Me too!
I'm guessing the album art is intended to look like a well-worn LP cover. Nice touch. Too bad the song doesn't quite live up to the creativeness of the album art.
Boring & repetitive
You on the guitar... sit down and turn that thing off. Now learn the song.
Hadn't heard this version. I've got a live version that is significantly less boppy. But with the CJ's, that's not necessarily a bad thing....
Not really Cowboy Junk. Just sounds like it after listening to the Beatles. Sorry, boys, but they're a tough act to follow.
Funny, I hear echoes of "These boots are made for walking" in some specific parts of the song.
"I see your shoes by the bedroom door and my heart starts POUNDING" I dig the sexy lyrics and the abrasive guitar. Excellent tune.
This must be my favorite from Cowboy Junkies. Makes me feel good, happy.
I own this CD and really enjoy it. For those who looks for some CJ variation this is it. I especially liked the effort to make the CD cover look like an old, well loved vinyl record sleeve with the wear patterns from the rim.
Wow? Did the Junkies discover coffee or something?
Boooooooo-ring.
But...but...it started and I thought, "Gee, what band is ripping off Cowboy Junkies' 'Common Disaster'?" And it turned out to be Cowboy Junkies ripping off Cowboy Junkies! Guess they should change their name to Fine Young Cannibals...
I used to like Cowboy Junkies, but their music has become increasingly interchangeable. Same licks, same beat, same -old same-old.
Whoa! Like, cheery up-tempo Junkies! Doesn't show off Margot's to-die-for voice quite like the more usual fare, but I like it. . . .

So "Paradise" lives up to its name. Your welcome.
Man, those must be some nice shoes. Where can I get a pair? Imagine the marketing promo: "These shoes will guarantee that you get laid". I could be a millionaire.

Wow...didn\'t know the Junkies could rock this hard. Someone must have taken away their Prozac. Good stuff! Question regarding the CD title: what\'s a wlatz? If it\'s as hard to do as it is to say....
Yow! This song is on KPIG at the same time! Coincidence? Hard to say.
