Bad snow freeze my throat
And numbs my soul
Eats me whole to pick me up
That's where you know
Free to go
You call the Jones
Makes me old before I'm old
It's all you love
Deep inside I know you love
The less the I seem to know you love
Bad snow numbs my throat
And leaves me dry leaves me dry
Leaves me barely whole
Down to the wire
Rock gone cold
You caught a cold
Like so many times before its all you love
Deep inside I go you love
The less the I seem to know you love
Here now, deep inside I go
Here now
And numbs my soul
Eats me whole to pick me up
That's where you know
Free to go
You call the Jones
Makes me old before I'm old
It's all you love
Deep inside I know you love
The less the I seem to know you love
Bad snow numbs my throat

Down to the wire

Had to check Google as I swore this wasn't on their debut album - apparently on the US release 👍

So? How as Goodwin's solo album? Impressions?
Only bad thing I could ever say about this band is that they sure take their time between albums. Seems like they go 4 years between albums....and now that I look back, it has been 5 years since their last album, yet they are still touring this year.
Jimi Goodwin (singer of Doves) just released his first solo album, I may have to pick that up to help me get by until the next Doves album.

If you click the Amazon link this appears to be a bonus track on the US release of this album.
Weird that this track does not appear on the track listing of the copy of this album that I possess. I obviously can't listen to it again from RP so next time it plays I will have to see if maybe it is a track on the copy I have which has a different name.

Love the Doves since they arrived on the scene.
This song definitely owes a debt to Radiohead.
Sounds like early Radiohead

Would have loved to have heard what Ian “Lemmy” Kilmister would have done with this piece. Alas.

Raised it from a 7 to a 9 on this listen. Now, I don't know why I had it at a 7, ever! Maybe because I'm cold and in a darkened room. It resonates more. Or - it's just a way cool song!
excellent! their best album so far, imho
Love it! >9

I like the"Something's in the Air" guitar thing at the end of this song.

I like this but I'm sure why yet....
Interesting, I guess the drummer got paid per number of snare hits on this song.
A first hearing on RP from a pretty remarkable CD. I get everything I can by Doves and will continue until there is nothing left. This song is from their first album, which certainly demonstrates that they knew exactly what they were doing from the start. There is certainly a dark quality to both lyrics and music. I await their next work, if and when this ever happens.

Great album! Dark and mellow.
I'm nuts about this song!
Almost a sophisticated version of dubstep.

Great funk beat on this one and the bass line is cool too. Sounds great on a system that can reproduce good bass tones. 10/10!
This CD is an absolute MUST OWN for most folks listening to RP.

Best currently active band by a long way.
It says this was last played on September 29, though it was clearly last played last night, on October 30. A bug?
Very nice!
Fine tune!
Awesome Bill. Little harder (in places) than a lot of RP fare. Welcome to my ears. I'm liking the bassline.

The album for this song is incorrect. It's not on the "Lost Souls" album, it's on the "Lost Sides" album. Just so you know!

What a cool groove. One of the better Doves tunes.
Good to hear after Radiohead's I Might Be Wrong. I believe Nigel Goodrich produced both albums, around the same time period. Such good work!
Edit: No, wasn't him on this disk.. I still lump Radiohead, Travis, and the Doves from this period under the same style though.

Interesting special background effects!
Great transition from Radiohead!
Like it! It's cool.
Love the Doves.
Its so brrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooding.
Ya know what I hear? Sort of? Fleetwood Mac's "I'm So Afraid". "I slip and I fall and I die..."
I really, really like the drumming. The whole song is very moody. Interesting.
I dig this song, but please don't chop "I Might Be Wrong", it's just wrong.
Speaking of this song and Radiohead, the guitar lick at the end of the Doves track sounds suspiciously like it was taken right off "Nice Dream". I expect that was an intentional nod?
If they ever make a second X-files movie, this would make a good song for the soundtrack.
Appropriate foreboding song for the last day before 6/6/6.
This cut may sound a bit Coldplay-ish but Doves have depth and it shows through...

This kicks Coldplay's collective butts. That bass is pretty cool.
Hey, it gets "lighter" for a minute near the end...
I think I found new band I like :)

I assume so. I noticed the smiliarity right away, too.
Oddly enough, I usually don't mind the Doves, but this sounded pretty dull, whereas I usually hate Radiohead, but I Might Be Wrong is probably my favorite song of theirs. Go figger.
Liked the Radiohead, but I have yet to hear a Doves song I like. I guess I must be missing something, but to me they seem seriously overrated.
Spine tinglingly foreboding. Doves do it again.
Coldplay Again????NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"New Cities"
I'd rank the albums like this:
1. Lost Souls
2. Some Cities
3. The Last Broadcast
I really don't see anything wrong with their latest release.

I do not recommend New Cities, honestly. That album struck me as their weakest one to date. Lost Souls or The Last Broadcast are very good. Lost Sides is very nice, too.

Is this placed intentionally after RH I Might Be Wrong? Some def. similarities in the rythm section and mood. Both cool tunes, IMHO.

Hmmm.... second tune I've heard from this disc this week. Starting to really like it. It's good to hear more than one track from a given disc before making a buying decision (I've been burned numerous times from buying a CD on the strength of ONE tune on RP only to find the rest of it relative rubbish. ANYhoo, this sounds pretty darn good.
ohhh the Doves. Most excellent.....
I derive great pleasure from all the layers of rich, unique sounds in this song.
What an awesome song. Why do they not show this song on the track listing in AMG?

Much better than that Cedar Room crap.
