I'm so tired of being alone,
I'm so tired of on my own,
Won't you help me, girl,
Just as soon as you can.
People say that I've found a way,
To make you say,
That you love me.
But baby,
You didn't go for that,
Ha, it's a natural fact,
That I want to come back,
Show me where it's at, baby.

I'm so tired of being alone,
I'm so tired of on my own,
Won't you help me, girl,
Just as soon as you can.
I guess you know that I, uh,
I love you so,
Even though,
You don't want me no more,
Hey, hey, hey, hey I'm cryin' tears,
Through the years,
I tell you like it is,
Honey, love me if you can.

Ya baby,
Tired of being alone here by myself, now
I tell ya, I'm tired baby,
I'm tired of being all wrapped up late at night,
In my dreams, nobody but you, baby.
Sometimes I wonder,
If you love me like you say you do,
You see baby, I, I, I, I've been thinking about you,
I've been wanting to get next to you, baby,
Sometimes I hold my arms and I say,
Oh baby, yeah, needing you has proven to me,
To be my greatest dream, yeah

Awh!

I'm so tired of being alone,
I'm so tired of on my own,
Sometimes late at night I get to wonderin' about you baby,
Baby, baby, ya

I can't say exactly why, but this reads like the observations of someone who has recently been doing a bit of consciousness alterations and while listening to this song had an epiphany. At least while cooking with RP playing I see such relationships emerge from the fog of daily awareness.

Very interesting observation.
EXCELLENT!!!

Wow, never heard those extremely diverse bands even remotely mentioned in the same breath, but yea, I'll go along that!
A pretty good definition of "soul music".
Very nice segue from Broken Bells' "The High Road"
If memory serves (and it may not) this was the first of the Cds I ever bought...still got it

Hey, some of us were too sexy for our shirts in 1975. So we just took them off. Including many of the girls (well at least their bras).

I don't recall many being too uptight to mind it much except old conservative bastards who hadn't gotten laid since Eisenhower. Even when they did it was standard 'missionary'. lol  {#Whistle}

....Eisenhower musta been one helluva busy guy back in the day {#Wink} {#Cheesygrin}

And props to Q.T. for causing a HUGE resurgence in Al Green's music with the inclusion of "Let's Stay Together" on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack...don't know how many of my age group (HS grad 1995) would have known his music otherwise.  I rate this one a 10 as well as a lot of the other tracks on the GH album.

And one musical regret I have is NOT going to see him at a local casino a few years ago with my wife and my dad; my dad died the next year and well.....yeah.......Long Live RP!!  PEACE OUT

Mr Green, as Yes and Radiohead also did, with a mastery of the finesse of harmonics, performed miracles within the ears of listeners...
I'm proud of my twelve-year-old self for having the taste back then to really love this and everything else by Al Green that was played on the radio in those days. Knew the words and sang along to all of them. Nearly fifty years later and those songs still sound good. I just don't sing along anymore. Well, not as much. And I make sure I'm alone in the house. :-)

Is this how they did it in '75?  Maybe it was a misunderstanding?

Photographer: I'm here for the cover shoot.

Al:  Ok, let me just get a shirt on...  Hey! - Wait!  (Attempting to cover himself with his arm)  Give me 2 sec..

Photographer: "Click"

Al: Oh man! People are going to look at that in 2013 and think I look ridiculous!...except jberko, who at least thinks I'm sexy. {#Heartkiss}

Maybe you weren't around in the 1970s, but shirtless publicity photos and album covers for male recording artists were pretty common back then - sometimes more regrettably than other times.  Anyhow, a lot of things look pretty silly forty years later, but I don't think anyone was thinking about 2013 back in 1975.
When I pass on, if there is a Heaven, I hope to be greeted by Al Green and Otis Redding, backed by Booker T. and the boys. The selection is their choice. It's all fine with me.

Oh yes, this is absolute stunning.  Truly stunning.
Takes me back, in the best way. So much pleasure listening to this, and so many others of his, over the years.pxd
in a class all by himself
One of the more tolerable top 40 plays back in high school ceramics class where the teacher allowed music but didn't appreciate (tolerate) underground FM stations. (I heard he used to drop acid so he must have had flashbacks hearing Pink Floyd, ELP, Moody Blues, etal...ha ha). Pretty hip song especially compared to the other utter crap played back then on top 40 stations.

 I miss Mo-Town.... We lost something when Gangsta music replaced soul music in pop-culture.

Well, this is Memphis, slow cooked soul, but I get your point.

Hey, that was one of Al's least outrageous outfits!

But you can't argue the results of his songs... at least, back in the day, pure romance! :-)
Space Oddity > Still, All Apologies > Tired of Being Alone
Wow, is it depressed hour? And I mean that in a good way.
I had to stop working, turned up the volume and groove.

Did you lose it while this song was playing?

{#Clap}
Saint Al
I don't understand.
You listen to the best radio station in the universe & you don't like Mr. Al Green.
non comprende
Hang in there and keep listening, someday it will become clear.

BTW, I sorta liked Rev. Al more before he got religion. Seemed to be a lot more fun...{#Wink}
D'ya think Obama could be persuaded to sing Al Green's greatest hits?
