All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come, how come

I twisted you over and under to take you
The coals went so wild as they swallowed the rest
I twisted you under and under to break you
I just couldn't breathe with your throne on my chest

All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come, how come

So far under the bed
Into the beams you've gone
I've gone, you've gone

I'm wrapped in the depths of these deeds that have made me
I can't bring a sound from my head though I try
I can't seem to find my way up from the basement
A demon holds my place on earth 'till I die

All night, all I hear, all I hear's your heart
How come, how come

So far under the bed
Into the beams you've gone
I've gone, you've gone

One of the best voices of our time!  This one really showcases her range!  Bravo!

So - because Weird Edward doesn't understand or is unable to "read" (interpret) - it's bobbins?! Lol. Go listen to Pop then, man. Lyrics are clear enough there.
Never get tired of listen to Neko!

the tune and cover art are perfect together, kind of creepy
Just don't get tired of this one

Damn, thought from the start it was gonna be "Somebody once told me, the worrrrrld was gonna roll me...."
she sounds like a pirate
A little Yodel singing in this makes it very special.
I've heard this song so many times and never really noticed the lyrics are about killing someone, burning the body, and then still hearing their heartbeat constantly, Tell-Tale Heart style...
What, exactly, is a "chee-est"?

Its not that long a song, and frankly, I like hearing it 3 or 4 times a month!

i'll go 2x on that one...
An add smells like teen spirit to the list
I love how she evokes Patsy Cline and Hank Williams so well, yet her own passion and genius shine through with a gem-like brilliance!

Bill does play stuff I can't stand. Talking Heads anyone? But since I've never been a DJ and Bill has ever since Jesus pitched the Cubs to a World Series, I believe he knows better than I do. Plus, Bill is kind enough to offer us PSD. {#Cheers}

I like hearing it.  Maybe if you don't, then you should switch stations and NOT bitch about it!

WOW!  Thanks for causing me to google her pic! Married to a redhead, so I'm good, but wow, she's not afraid to have her picture taken, and I'm good with that too!

You're kidding, right? Rock wool, yes. Cotton!? I mean, honestly{#Tongue}

(trying hard not to ask how you achieved the altered mental state required to molest a balloon while masticating home supplies...)

Wonderful metaphor!  But in this case I happen to like the sound of the balloon down the blackboard, and the zing from chewing tin foil.  I haven't tried the cotton wool yet since they come from flora and fauna and as far as I know haven't crossed species.
I like the guitar. It reminds me of the darker side (and that says a lot) of 16 Horsepower & Woven Hand & Lilium.

Loved the background screechy guitar fade from Neko's Furnace Room Lullabye into The Cure's Fascination Street. Added almost a gothic horror sound as the song ends.
yum!
I'm not tired of Neko Case's voice yet. I love how she sounds. And this song rocks.

Device?  What device?  Green ink?

The guy from ELO?

The prank caller?

To those that don't like her style/ voice: I suppose Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lucinda Williams... great poets with, arguably grating voices might take lessons from, oh maybe, Taylor Swift? Come on...

Beautiful voice but I'm really, really sick of that particular song.
Ode to Poe's Telltale Heart?
sweet & tasty  {#Bounce}
Walked into the room, heard this & immediately - Neko Case.  Distinctive voice. Very nice.
This is new to me and the title is catchy if nothing else! Interesting lyrics, pretty dark for a lullaby: https://www.cowboylyrics.com/tabs/case-neko/furnace-room-lullaby-10041.html
The Voice !!! Magnifique..

Shazam!  Love it!  Amen!

This song is soooo gorgeous...  love it...  sigh...

No more Neko.
Quick — does anyone know if I can tweak my Grace Slick cancelling head phones so they work for Nico Case too?

My experience with pandora is, they recycle the same songs every day. I am not a fan of ALL Neko's songs but this is my favorite. She has a cool voice.

Great voice,.. writing,..  simple but strong instrumentation:  :-)
I actually felt my heart muscles contract the second I heard her voice on this song.....

Definitely not my favorite Neko song, and that lovely voice is used to better effect elsewhere. But still, WOW she's so whatever the word is for transcendent.

I think the word you're looking for is "trosgynnol".  Great tune.

I've no idea if this is technically the correct musical term, but I find the minor key most of Neko Case's songs are sung in really grating. It's like even though she's hitting the notes spot-on, all I hear is this awful drone.  Way prefer her as part of the New Pornographers...
I second on both Madrugada and Neko! I've seen Neko at least a half-dozen times (San Diego, Baltimore, D.C.), and every time is fantastic. I got turned onto Madrugada/Sivert Hoyem just recently—thank you to RP for both.

Oh, yeah!! and the goosebumps say thank you, Bill!

Funny, by far my favorite Neko song...to each his own Neko...

True, Bill is playing Neko a lot, but she is so wonderful. At least it's not the same quantity of Bruce Springsteen.

That's been my attitude for some time now, but RP is playing soooo much of a few popular artists. Getting to be like commercial radio that way. Sad.

I bought her latest Album (the bonus version of Fox Confessor) based on my enjoyment of this song and Bells.  I never got into any of the songs though - just the "greatest hits" songs on the bonus disc which were the songs I already knew.  I was dissapointed that I didn't enjoy it more.

In the context, I thought both comments were damn funny.

I managed to bag four tickets for Neko's April 17 show in Toronto, in a venue that holds maybe 1,000 people.

The "secondary market" price for them is currently $375 a seat.

what a voice.... Bravo!!
Mood shattering after Madrugda - Majesty.
after "The fix" from Elbow it's one of the nice and beautiful songs i'm starting to dislike because overplayed... so i'm getting bored of it. There's so much music in the world... why persevere playing the same songs?
Beautiful, finally have to buy the cd now  — 10!
Absolutely divine.
GOD this song gives you chills when she first comes on....

LOVE
her.

I'd like it followed up with a little Tift Merritt.  Haven't heard anything from her in a while on RP.
