hey honey what you trying to say
as i stand here
don't you walk away
and the world comes tumbling down
hand in hand in a violent life
making love on the edge of a knife
and the world comes tumbling down
and it's hard
for me to say
and it's hard
for me to stay
i'm going down
to be by myself
i'm going back
for the good of my health
and there's one thing
i couldnt do
sacrifice myself to you
sacrifice
baby baby i just can't see
just what you mean to me
i take my aim and i fake my words
i'm just your long time curse
and if you walk away
i can't take it
but that's the way that you are
and that's the things that you say
but now you've gone too far
with all the things you say
get back to where you come from
i can't help it
under the april skies
under the april sun
sun grows cold
sky gets black
and you broke me up
and now you won't come back
shaking hand, life is dead
and a broken heart
and a screaming head
as i stand here
don't you walk away
and the world comes tumbling down
hand in hand in a violent life
making love on the edge of a knife
and the world comes tumbling down
and it's hard

Barry: They always seemed what? They always seemed really great is what they always seemed. They picked up where your precious Echo left off and you're sitting around complaining about no more Echo albums. I can't believe you don't own this fucking record. -HIGH FIDELITY
Been listening to their new album this past week, there are definitely a few tracks that could/should find their way to RP - William?
The new album is very good, with a handful of tracks excellent.

Just saw em in Winterthur, Switzerland. Seriously rocking and I got a T-shirt!
YESSSSSSS! This makes my day.

No, they were overlooked for good reason.
Compared to all the other great bands back then, they were weak - very weak.
All the other great bands in 1987?
Not that there weren't any, just... it wasn't 1967 or 1992.

Good Tune!
A near perfect pop song that still sounds amazing after all these years!

single was released in April 1987, from the Darklands Album if you're interested!
Always nice to hear these guys..
All the planets aligned so that I'm the only person in the office right now. Volume set to "Melt."
So this is where The War on Drug got their sound... I totally forgot about these guys!

I get a block of English TV stations and one of the BBC channels shows reruns of "Top of the Pops" and they are currently around this period ~1984/85 and this song was a charting top 40 single and the band was on the show for a lip-sync performance.

Dang! Haven't heard this song in ages. What a great throwback.

Transition from my new favorite band (WoD) to my old favorite (JAMC)....thanks for being on my wavelength Mr Bill.

Yesss, we want more 🎵More Jesus and Mary Chain please!
This song is from Darklands
great song, great but lazy band, new when it has come and still new today.
Looking in my ratings for The Jesus and Mary Chain I see I have three songs rated pretty highly. This is why I love Radio Paradise - it knew I was a fan before I did.
So loved their guitar-feedback driven noise as a teenager! not heard them in probably 20 years :( thanks a mil Bill! More JMC would be welcome - Some candy talking please?
very interest music!
A total classic! LOVE IT! More JMC please, Bill.
Och far too short-lived a band. Brilliant. C'moan the Reids!
This is why I like RP. I don't think JMC is the best band ever, wouldn't buy their stuff, but still I love to hear this in the set. The blast from the past and its place in the set between Elvis Costello and Van Morrison is what makes it worth listening to.
Another RP first. First impulse, this is an 8! Crank it! Probably 20 years old and better than stuff from yesterday.
YAY YAY YAY !!!
NOW.......NOW we're TALKIN'!!!!! Bring it!!! Awesome tune and a truly pioneering band! And, YES, we could use more J&MC on RP.
Thanks Bill...just made my day
More J & M Chain! Their record "Automatic" one of the greats of all time.

I like this song! Not comparing it to anyone else.
In their days, these boys were great live, intense and mental as I recall. April Skies is a classic.
I keep expecting the pace to quicken.
Always liked this group. As some have alluded to they had a sorta retro sound.
that's the way she is

Man - I missed this band completely during my multi-year excursion outa rock/pop genre. Solid tune ;-)

Classic song.

Agreed on BMRC, but J+M went into the 90's. Saw them in '92 (I think) with Curve & Spiritualized. I remember lots of strobe lights and feedback.
Sometimes Always, which features Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval, is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time. Here's the video.
Aww man, I popped out for coffee and missed it!

I had a JMC album once. It "disappeared" in about 1991.... Perhaps it's time to replace.
Now this is a blast from the past! This is the loudest band I have ever seen live.
OH YES!!! This is how to make a girl happy...

They're from Scotland,
Don't know what happened to them.
The core of the band were brothers Jim and William Reid . Jim is still active in music and William has been a bit quiet for a while.
Drummer Bobbie Gillespie became the lead singer of Primal Scream who are on a bit of a comeback at the moment.
'April Skies' takes me back to my moody teenage years. Rock on........
Classic. I love the "majestic" sound. I'm a sucker for it really. Never get tired of it, in this song or others as well.
Yeah really awesome & quintessential 80's----classic really--still great make-out music!

A lot of their tunes sound fairly similar to me. However, that doesn't keep me from enjoying the music. I dig the J&M Chain.

How about playing J&MC "Dirty Watr' or any song from that album- very cheerful downer music.
You're talking about 'Stoned & Dethroned' which is a truly wise album...unless you are an achiever...and proud we are of all of them... that album has it going on.

Great band when they were in their prime. Love that J&MC trademark wall of sound.Good stuff.

This is nice. I'm not familiar with them. Is this typical of their sound? At first I thought it was The Church.
This is sort of in the middle for them, so I guess you could say it's typical.

ahh... I still like JMC ...some earlier stuff would be nice too. :-)
Cool Band, so diverse from the typical eighties music. Sometimes too edgy.
