In i dina tankar i ditt huvud står jag fri
I ditt öga dansar stormar små
Men det är du som för
I döda vinkeln ser jag allt du gör
Ett monster underst i en hembyggd våningsäng
Och på håll såg jag ljusen dö i dimman
Precis när mörkret tändes upp igen
Och jag såg dig springa över skaren

I think these guys have a few New Order records in their collection. None the worse for it either.
Sounds like Thai pop music sung in Swedish
Latter half did pick up

I have this sneaking suspicion that if I had grown up in Sweden, these guys would have been my favourite band...
Like everything else I've heard by them, this rocks! It has a great groove and vocals with a killer edge that I really appreciate. Sad they seem broken-up!
Music from Sweden!
It picked up near the last half of the song, so that part is getting my vote of 7 otherwise it would have been a 6.

Not a bad song, but I keep hearing -
"Torn between two lovers, feeling like a fool. Loving both of you is breaking all the rules". Aaargh! Out of my head!

Kent is quite popular here in Denmark,so this was a nice surprise.
It's so amazing to suddenly hear good lyrics in swedish here.... thank you for gordeous choice of music
I always enjoy a good singing voice, and this one is a good one.
Their latest album, Tigerdrottningen (Tiger Queen), is very much worth listening to as well.
I like it a lot
Sweden rules........again..........
Another band I never heard of and really like - Thanks once again Bill
I thought it was KEANE until I realized they weren't speaking English... good though...

Is it me, but does the figure on the right look like an elf-sized version of Vladimir Putin?
This is another fine track from Kent, and kudos as ever to RP for bringing listeners in the anglo-saxon world in touch with excellent Scandinavian music which we'd otherwise never hear

I think that is an accurate colloquial translation, it gets used that way a lot. One hears the term "döda vinkeln" when you are in driving class for example. But I wonder what that the literal translation might be different, more like "death's view" and that seems to be how Jocke is using it in this song.
Since I am from Sweden, but have lived in the US for a long time, I thought about the title "Den döda vinkeln". Am I the only one who would translate it "the blind spot"?

Here's a translation I did - apologies for any misspelligns. My Swedish is a bit rusty but I think I got the gist of it. Hope y'all enjoy!
For a long time I was the lonely only child
a monster at the bottom of a homemade bunk bed
and in the distance I saw the lights die in the mist
just when the darkness lit up again
And I saw you running over the crust
in pursuit of your fabolous view
and you taught me to completely disappear
Within your thoughts in your head I stand free
Give me a winter drug
give me all you've got
Come now I am chronicly low
only the darkness is heard
In your eye was a storm I saw
as summer snow
In the dead angle I see everything you do
And there they come. I see them between the trees
Please can you help me escape
their eyes are like fire over the world
There I crawl in the ashes, the Phoenix born anew
Give me a winter drug
give me all you've got
Come now I am chronicly low
only the darkness is heard
In your eye was a storm I saw
blowing summer snow
In the dead angle I see everything you do
Give me a winter drug
give me summer snow
Come now I am chronicly low
only the darkness is heard
In your eye small storms dance
but you lead
In the dead angle I see everything you do

There is something about the cadence or pronunciation of this that makes me think I SHOULD understand it, and I keep straining to make out the words... alas, I don't think it is going to work. Liked the song very much BTW.
Kent the Band
I met the whole band one time, before they even were famous. They came walking in a park, they had bought some hot dogs for lunch. I guess they could not afford much more then.
I came walking with my daughter in a stroller, and told her - Oh! Look there's a band called Kent.
If I had known they would have become that famous I guess (well I don't really know what I would have done)I would have said hi, or something nice.
Anyway, I'm swedish, married to an American, living in Sweden! Loves Radio Paradise. It is an utopia for ears and emotions.
Love Marie (Mrs. Superfido however that happened hahhaa)

For the record, the band did record english versions of their mid-career albums, but not so anymore. I guess they did not sell, maybe because some of the originality was lost.
There is an example here on RP.

Agreed, heartily. Nonetheless, it gave me a few seconds of reality vertigo . . . could not figure out why I could not figure out what he was saying.
Second song by these guys that I've heard, and I like it!

Hmm. I am no native speaker, however I would have done some things a little differently.

And you taught me to disappear completely
Inside your imagination, in your head I'm free
Give me a winterdrug
Give me everything you've got
Come on, I am chronically down
Only darkness is heard
In your eyes I saw a storm as summersnow
From death's angle I see everything you do
There they go, I see them between trees

Their eyes are seafire over world
I crawl through the ashes, a Phoenix reborn
Give me a winterdrug

Great band. I saw them live here in Gothenburg a couple of years ago, they put on a great show. This record is good even if you do not talar svenska.
Roll on the Eurovision Song Contest, I hear Morrissey may be doing it for the UK - null points there then
Can't understand a damn word they're saying, but I love everything I've heard from this group.

Nice translation. The word mareld literally means sea fire. It is an effect caused by sealiving organism that glows when disturbed. The most common organism that causes this in Swedish waters is the Seasparkle (latin: Noctiluca scintillans).
Heh, it's kind of weird to hear songs in my native language on Radio Paradise - it always takes me a while to reallize what it actually is. Normally, the first thing I notice is that I can't quite translate the words and that it sounds a bit like Kent; which leads me to the suspicion that maybe it's Swedish - which upon closer inspection it is. ;)
Really enjoying this!
Tried learning Swedish a few years ago but it didn't take, so thanks to those providing translation!

If the lyrics have been even somewhat closely translated, I nominate this as the "poster song" for those who live (throwing a dart) at a latitude >40°. Good tune/lyrics.
"Thank you for shopping at IKEA."
Very cool band from Sweden. Thanks for introducing them to me, RP. Likeable tune.

The Dead View
For long I was a lonely, only child
A monster under the bed
And from far away I watched the light fade in the mist
Just as the darkness lights up again
And I saw you running over the snow
In pursuit of your fantastic view
And you taught me to disappear utterly
Into your thoughts, in your head I stand free
Give me a winter drug
Give me all you have
Come now I am chronically low
Only the darkness is heard
In your eyes was a storm, I saw
Like summer snow
In the dead view I see all you do
And there they come, I see them between trees
Please can you help me flee
Their eyes are like water sparkling over the world
I crawl into the ashes, a Phoenix born anew
Give me a winter drug
Give me all you have
Come now I am chronically low
Only the darkness is heard
In your eyes was a storm, I saw
Blow summer snow
In the dead view I see all you do
Give me a winter drug
Give me summer snow
Come now I am chronically low
Only the darkness is heard
In your eyes dances a little storm
But it is for you
In the dead view I see all you do

This is good . . . dig the trippy english translation of the lyrics . . . reminds me of Robyn Hitchcock and his band the Soft Boys
This is a song RP should put in the playlist . . .
Only the Stones Remain
Men were executed, women bled
Beads and fish changed hands and
Children stayed up late
Uh huh
Colored drums they stretched the night
There's a taxidermist looking for a fight
But now he's gone
Ah yeah, only the stones remain
Girls were decked with flowers and violated while
Boys spat juice from out of their fresh young bulbs
Soldiers crossed their hearts and died and
Pretty girls turned cold inside
But now they're gone
Only the stones remain
Oh they're gone, yeah
Only the stones remain
And the stones have forgotten them
The stones have forgotten them
They break your body and drain the life out of it
It sinks into the soil while the soul flies up into the air above
And when there's no more tears to cry, there's
Nothing left to do but laugh
Stained glass elaborations collapse and candyfloss evaporates, honey
Only the stones remain, here they go
Ah yeah, only the stones remain
Now they're gone
Ah yeah, only the stones remain
Ah yeah, only the stones remain
Girls were decked with flowers and ovulated while
Colored drums expressed the night
There's a taxidermist grinnin' with deligh
Is this Swedish or is today Sunday? Solid tune.
No more winter drugs for this lot, judging by these lyrics they have had quite enough already
pretty good... cool cd cover.

And at distance i saw the lights die in the fog
Just when the darkness were light up again
And I saw you running over the crust
In the hunt for your fabulous view
And you learned me to entire disappear
In to your minds in your head I stand free
Give me a winter drug
Give me all you got
Come now I am chronic low
Only the darkness is heard
In your eye it was a storm I saw
Like summer snow
In the Dead View I see everything you do
And ther they come I sees them between the trees
Please can you help me flee?
Their eyes are like seafire(?) over the world
I crawl in to the ash Phoenix born as new
Give me a winter drug
Give me all you got
Come now I am chronic low
Only the darkness is heard
In your eye it was a storm I saw
Blow summer snow
In the Dead View I see everything you do
Give me a winter drug
Give me summer snow
Come now I am chronic low
Only the darkness is heard
In your eye the storm is dancing small
But that is you as before
In the Dead View I see everything you do
I really like this band! Maybe someone could translate the lyrics to this song?

This song is extremely good, quite surprised to hear it hear on RP.
And it sure sounds like a Mellotron.
You're surprised to hear it on RP ?
Playing extremely good songs is what they do !

Isn't there the sound of a mellotron in this track?
In all case, a very good song, IMHO.
